2017 is the deadliest year for mass killings in at least a decade
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...st-year-mass-killings-least-decade/836738001/

"With nearly eight weeks until the end of the year, 2017 has already earned a bitter honor: It is the most deadly year for mass killings in the U.S. in more than a decade.

Sunday’s shooting at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas, which killed 26 people, raised the total of victims lost in mass killings this year to 208,*according to USA TODAY data."

10 years from now, it will probably be the year that was the least deadly. It's just going to get worse.

MOO....oh yes, the Air Force messed up not sending info to the FBI, however, when someone really wants to do something, they find away. It was easy for him to buy the guns but if he could not buy them, he would have found another way. He could have bought off the street, through a private seller, stolen them or used another means like a car/van, explosives, etc. His mission was to kill for anger, revenge and other own personal reasons. No matter he would have found a way.

I absolutely agree with you.
he could have visited his local hardware store and purchased the requisites, without arousing suspicion.

Freeman Martin, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said Monday that all of the victims’ bodies had been removed from the church but that they couldn’t yet release their names.
He said law enforcement had removed hundreds of shell casings and 15 30-round clips from the church, all of them emptied.

What we know about the rifle used in the Texas church massacre

"The gunman in the Texas church massacre was armed with a Ruger AR-556 -- a type of AR-15, the military-style rifle that has been used in many other recent mass shootings."

Why the AR-15 is the mass shooter's go-to weapon

"Some gun sellers say customers are rushing to buy bump stocks -- the accessories that make rifles fire like automatic weapons -- since the massacre in Las Vegas.

"Oh, God, yes, it's been insane. Since this story has broke, we've been getting about 50 people a day asking for them," said Michael Cargill, owner of Central Texas Gun Works in Austin, Texas. He said his distributors sold out, too.

Gun sellers told CNNMoney they believe the sales spike is driven by fears of tighter gun control -- perhaps including *advertiser censored*ban on bump stocks*-- since the attack in Las Vegas, the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history."

I wonder if any of these gun stores getting 50 requests a day for bump stocks have enough of a conscience to just say no, and not order them. I mean, it's been proven that they aren't very accurate, so they aren't for hunting or target practice...

But it could have been stopped another way, aside from the gun control angle. As some others have pointed out, the Air Force only gave him one year in lock up for cracking a child's skull, choking and kicking a woman.

When we add up everything he's done that he should have been locked up for, including the animal cruelty, well, he simply should not have been anywhere but prison at the time.

Too much time and money is spent on locking up people for pot, and not enough spent locking people up for violence against animals and humans.

So our societal current “business model” or modus operandi regarding violence is not working. Currently we all have to wait until the mentally ill, deviant, sociopathic, or tormented, angry people perform an **action** before we can do anything and usually it is too late.

What I would like to see is a reporting agency whereby anonymous calls can go to a task force that encompasses counselors, investigators, documentary’s, etc and if you see something, you call it in. It’s all about prevention and would save the well-being of countless lives, children, spouses,& animals. This would have to be a new agency but one that could work collaboratively with police, social services, FBI, doctors, etc...

The process could be done & it would take years to get the “wrinkles” out of it. It would be worth it though.

We are at the breaking point in society so it is necessary, IMO.

I understand but part of the reason for properly reporting & recording aberrant or criminal behavior is that it alerts the public to the possibility of more of the same in the future. It’s an important warning system of sorts to protect society

Gosh, I watched all of that and went through an entire rainbow of thoughts and emotions.. I'm not anti-gun, I am terrified of guns, its an irrational thing, my father took me shooting when I was tiny ad I enjoyed it, as far as I know..
Sorry, for going all 'mememe' I was thinking he probably would have been a really great teacher and absolutely qualified and knowledgeable.. and he would have delivered a n utter respect for the art of shooting and respect for the instrument.
So , right from the start I was open to everything he said.
I perceived him as a sincere man.
When he was plugging the weapons towards the end, I knew he was sincere too.. and for that reason, forgivable.. but he was discussing the proper use of guns, for protection and defence. Very cool man.
But I would have waited for the cops, myself..
My fear is that many many people will be inspired by his actions and before soon, everybody will be doing it.
I think he may well get a very hard time from the media and I'm not about adding to that.
A slippery slope.

This is a rural area, not like a big city...calling 911 and there are 5 police in patrol cars in a 2 mile radius. Just sayin, waiting for help probably isn't a way of life sometimes

This! And it's highly likely imo if he hadn't acted when he did and instead waited for police, that The gunmans inlaws/exinlaws most likely would have been murdered as well. Imo every situation is different, but in this case a law abiding gun owner saved countless lives! And I hope everyone appreciates the risk this man took.

And this is necessary to protect our borders from refugees? Why? To scare desperate people? I bet the drug dealers laugh at this get up!
