I am glad to hear that. There were some posts by locals who said they knew people in Saginaw and there wasn't much concern....

Is there consensus about what happened to Alanna or does everyone's theory vary? Do people think LE knows who did it?

I've heard a lot if different theories. I think people feel LE knows more than they are saying, especially because of what they are not asking for- like for people to be on the look out for her clothes. Also the Texas Rangers are pretty badass and people want to believe that they are on the right path. Not much suspicion of the family, at least in my social circle. They are obviously devastated.

The search warrant asked specifically for men's clothing and belts. The belts that were seized did not specify if they were men's or women's.

Could have been boys belts...If she was bounded by belts, they have the size and probably wanted to check to see if the same size was inside the home though guessing....I have not read every posting in all threads, and some of the postings i wanted to respond to i could not since they were closed..But Bessie posted a photo street view of the corner. And showing the housing there it would have been difficult to see the going ons at the corner with the privacy fences and the thick low hanging trees. Not sure about the other side. Looks as if you would have to come out and stand to see as they are in the photo....
I assumed she was last reported seen somewhere around her house. Outside at some point by someone. She was not found far at all from home. You could ride a bicycle and get to where she was found in minutes...The tarp photo looks more being placed on her than wrapped in it...I would ask the LEOS to ask the residences in the area to check there garages and so forth and see if they have a missing tarp. perhaps one that was folded up and put away awhile back and forgotten about. Just check and see if it is still there....My first thought on this was a thrill kill. take her kill her and leave her and than go home and wait for it to be discovered and hear about it on the news. Maybe even go to the scene after its discovery.

I am local and I think most people around here think LE knows who did it.

I see a lot of care and concern locally for this precious baby girl.

They said this exact thing in Denver, when Jessica went missing and was found murdered. Warned the public very strongly.

And they said the opposite here. To me that indicates they are looking at family.

It can certainly seem that way, since we are not on the inside. The FBI and Rangers are involved. They don't get involved, unless there IS a sense of urgency. There is always a reason for not releasing information to the public, and it's usually a good reason. I don't think we should assume they are working day and night, just because we don't have information...ya know? JMO.

I think we know LE is highly concerned and working hard but the media and the larger, general public seem less frantic about this case.

I think the reason, too often, that information is not released to the public is because they either don't trust the public, or don't have the information to release.

I always thought it was to protect the investigation, right?

Also in the sw wanting pants and belts in particular sizes it didnt specify if they wanted mens or womens specifically.
Im not looking at the search warrant but thats what my memory tells me.

But why a belt? It says she was belted in the tarp, so they have that belt.

If she was restrained with a belt, how would they know what size the belt is??

I believe the ME would have examined Alanna on site. Possibly at the ME's office & the LE were there? To do that they would need to remove the belt around the tarp & they measured it. That's my thoughts anyway.

Did the killer simply grab the first thing in site....a belt laying near by?
Just tossing out ideas....I pray this killer is found very very soon.

The silence in this case is deafening.

Thirteen days have gone by and nobody is talking.

Nobody meaning the police, the family, a family spokesperson (there isn't one), and grandparents.

Even the community appears to be quiet.

I can't say I have ever seen such a thing.

I just wanted to share my two cents, I always sleuth cases and my family usually makes jokes about calling me a super sleuth. So here goes my theory on this heartbreaking case...

Alanna could have gone to see if one of her friends could play, knocked on the door and someone answers.. The little friend isn't come but the perp tells her Little Alanna that her little friend is home and invites her in. Alanna is now inside the home, door shuts! Now maybe this perp is the parent of the little friend, maybe a relative of the little friend whatever but now he has her in the house and maybe he has watched her play at the house before? But maybe this guy just takes advantage of the situation? Maybe he does whatever horrific (I can't think about this part) and then he realizes time has past and the little friend and either the other parent is on their way home or maybe he just needs to go somewhere but his car is in the garage so he loads the baby in the car and opens the garage door and knows he needs to dump her little body

I didn't finish that sorry but so what if he sped off to the intersection and just thought nobody was around so he opened the door of his car and pushed her out??

That's my theory.. I think they need to look at Alanna's friends and those homes! I never let my children go inside people's homes on our street unless I know the parents bc you just don't know people or even people visiting their homes.. It's scary! :/

Could belts have been used as "restraints"? If so we're looking for someone with a LOT of belts...a shop? Most men would only own one belt :moo:

A leather dress up belt...brown.
A leather dress up belt...black.
A casual belt for jeans and kakhis.
Lastly a old worn out belt he wears fishing, lol.

If a local was responsible, they may have only needed to walk next door or a few houses down or on the backstreets or...whatever, to open a parent of Alanna's car door & flip the trunk for supplies. That's if there were matches that sway towards the vehicle of the family. jmo

Oh, that would also imply they were smart enough to know or observant enough to know what happened in the neighborhood. Scary.

To see if there are wear marks around the same hole on the belts seized as on the belt wrapped around the tarp.

Wasn't LE taking hair samples in the neighborhood last week? Or was that another case being discussed here? It has been difficult to tell which posts which to this case, and which to cases from decades ago.

In any event, I am not feeling at all certain that LE has a firm suspect and are simply biding their time gathering more evidence. I hope they are able to clear the household soon and say so publicly. Saying they are not "prime suspects" is terrible phrasing, IMO, and really sounds unprofessional if in fact they are not the focus. It implies they have a prime suspect, for one thing, and also lumps the parents into a group of suspects.

I think the killer may have. Which points to panic. To me this crime was either an accident during abuse or an impulsive crime of opportunity in which Alanna was murdered to hide a sexual assault or as part of the overall thrill for the perp.

Ugh.
