GUILTY TX - Billy Joe Harris for rapes of elderly women in 6 counties, 2011

So good to see you TM!! Am I nuts or is there something here? So, this girlfriend was only with him from October 2009 to April 2010. He hit four times during that span--Marlin, Centerville, Yoakum, and Luling. Would that be possible as we're talking about a 650 mile drive. And we know he scoped out the houses for a while. I wonder if he told her he was going visiting. She's the one who said that he's enrolled at Penn Valley College. I found this interesting:

"...things he had stolen from houses and stores he had "hit" in his father's Thrift store..."

Can someone in the KC area go down and see if they have any clocks or mounted deer heads at the thrift store? And where did she come up with the 38 years?

I guess all I need is for the Texas Rangers to take a look at him and for the Texas ladies who were attacked to see his photo. That would answer our questions and then we can move on if need be.

But someone raped those ladies and that someone has surely been quiet. I wonder if Simon's drug needs have escalated and he can no longer "organize" himself. He surely was organized at one time, fairly recently given his photos on his mother's Prayer Warrior site and while he was active in his "Gershwin" piano group.

Don't I remember something, somewhere about him trying on clothes in ladies' houses? I wonder if he has a thing for vintage gentlemen's clothes?

Well, finally something in the news!
http://www.examiner.com/x-33602-Wic...d-have-familialfamily-DNA-to-solve-cold-cases

In the wake of familial (family) DNA being used to arrest a suspect in the California Grim Sleeper murders, DNA experts recently said there was no reason that Texas investigators shouldn't also have the benefit of this valuable tool.

Experts have even suggested the family DNA format might be helpful in solving the Texas Twilight Serial Rapist cases. The Twilight Serial Rapist has allegedly raped twelve women across the state of Texas and has left his DNA profile behind at several crime scenes.

Let's hope that the Texas Rangers can travel the short distance up to the KC area and compare DNA with Simon Angilda, the man who recently raped the 92 year old woman. His actions are extremely suspect to me.

Just FYI:
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.co...s/is-your-smart-phone-spying-on-you.aspx?GT1= 33002

Is your smart phone spying on you?

Recent advances in smart phones give them huge processing power and superfast data connections. That means they're powerful enough to run sophisticated spyware that can become a stalker's ally or a jealous lover's private detective.

In fact, spyware now available on the Internet can be deployed to do creepy things such as monitor all your text messages and e-mails, provide access to your calls and even offer a live GPS signal that shows where you are.

Like minds....IWannaKnow. I just read that article aloud to my husband and I remarked that you'd commented way upthread about that very possibility.

Concerning the TSR, what is your theory as to how he might have used that technology? I'm very curious.

Bringing it back to the possible link to the recent rape in Missouri, I wonder if Angilda ever worked with cell phones? If I'm not mistaken, they haven't ever solved the rash of elder rapes in Mississippi either. You could be on to something.

IWannaKnow....You might want to sit down. Google Simoncells and see what comes up. How's that for curious?

It looks like SimonCells are out of business and surely did not get good reviews. I found a couple of review sites:

And it looks like two purchasers of the SimonCell phone who left a review on this site are from TX:

Both bought their phones and were happy with the service. The reviews were posted in 2007.

So, who else do we know that is bold, goes back to scene of the crime, and has even raped one poor woman twice? Yep. Well, check out this news blog concerning the MO rapist, Simon Angilda:

http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/2010/08...2_year_old_woman_violate_protection_order.php

Simon Angilda, accused of raping 92-year-old woman, now accused of violating a protection order

"Something's seriously wrong with Simon Takwana Angilda. The guy is already accused of raping and robbing a 92-year-old woman in Leawood on June 29. Really, guy? Apparently, the 21-year-old wasn't done with the poor old lady.

Court records show that Angilda violated a protection order on July 19 apparently having some contact with the woman accusing him of raping her. The victim's initials, H.L.B., match in both cases...."

more at link, including documents (but skip the comments as they are disgusting)

The more I read about this guy and the fact that he spent some of his childhood in Texas, makes me very suspicious. I wonder if his girlfriend has weighed in again?

Possibly. Definitely similar MO and timing. I don't recall the Texas rapist described as thin, though. And I don't see any element of theft or preparation. I'm still watching the Simon Angilda story out of Kansas City. Just too many similarities there. And a link to Texas.

We'll have to keep an eye on Maryland. Is there a thread on this rapist? There probably should be. The raping of a woman twice seems so bold. The other victim in Maryland is 86 and lives at a Senior Center, just like one of the women in Texas. Hmmm.

FWIW, one of the rapes occurred on June 19th. That's a holiday in Texas, Juneteenth, which is celebrated by many families of color. It's a celebration of the abolition of slavery in Texas in 1865. It's a state holiday in many states but not Maryland. Although, it's certainly celebrated there.

Whoah...this is a shock:

From Kansas Vinelink:

ANGILDA, SIMON T
05/16/1989 21
Out of Custody
General release
Missouri Dept of Corrections

I wonder when he was released? Here's a story about him:

http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/2010/07/simon_angilda_accused_of_raping_92-year-old_woman.php

He raped the woman in MO on June 29th. I know he was then jailed. But I don't know for how long. The first rape in Maryland was on June 19th. Then there was another on August 21st. The third was this week. Yikes.

Can anyone pull up a more detailed record in MO for him? I know he has a number of family members who were really advocating for him. I wonder if they bailed him out right away. But the bond was set at $500,000 and this is MO, which has only cash bonds. How the heck did he get out? All this time, I've assumed that he was still held due to the viciousness of his crime.

I don't think we have a thread for the Maryland rapist yet.

Here is one we have talked about in this thread that when I saw the show I instantly thought of. http://meridianstar.com/local/x681156425/Hunt-for-serial-rapist-continues

We have reviewed so many but the black and white sketch looks close to me -- but I am not the facial recognition person that many here at WS are.

Man linked to "Twilight Rapist" crimes arrested in Bell County

A man suspected of being the “Twilight Rapist” has been arrested in Bell County.

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office says the individual was taken into custody by the Edna Police Department on Saturday at approximately 4:30 a.m. The apprehension came after police responded to a call for assistance from a citizen. During the investigation a link was made to the Edna suspect and the serial rapist suspect in the Central and South Texas area.
...............
Officials have not yet released the identity of the suspect or what link allowed them to focus on him. The Bell County Sheriff’s Office is set to hold a press conference on Monday that may reveal more details on the suspect.

HA TEXAS MIST! I just read that myself. So happy!!!!!! I am shocked at his age!

I was surprised at his age, too - in his 50's!!

WACO (January 9, 2011)--A man in his 50s who was arrested in Edna was in custody Sunday in connection with the so-called Twilight Rapist case, which involved a series of rapes and burglaries that targeted elderly women living alone in Central and South Texas, according to several sources including the daughter of one of the Central Texas victims.

Bell County Sheriff Dan Smith confirmed the arrest in a brief statement Sunday afternoon.

He said Edna police arrested the man at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

“The police officer was responding to a call for assistance from a citizen,” Smith said.

Members of the Twilight Rapist Task Force traveled to Edna and following an investigation, arrested 53-year-old Billy Joe Harris for crimes atributed to the Twilight Rapist.

“Countless men and women worked long hours on the Task Force investigating every lead in this case for more than a year,” said DPS Director Steve McCraw. “As in many complex cases, these investigations turn quickly on a single incident. We are indebted to the brave victims and the Edna Police Department for helping solve these heinous crimes against defenseless elderly women.”

Through DNA evidence collected by a Texas Ranger, Harris was also linked to five other assaults in Yoakum, Bell, Falls and Leon counties.

Authorities say Harris lives in Missouri City, Texas and works as a non-commissioned employee for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Rosharon. He was also employed by a home health care agency in Houston.
The first known suspected attack was in Yoakum in January 2009. As many as 12 rapes, attempted rapes or burglaries in Yoakum and Luling and in rural Leon, Bell, McLennan and Falls counties through November of 2009 led to the formation of an informal task force. At Governor Rick Perry’s request, DPS formalized the Task Force in January 2010.

This investigation involved the combined efforts of the DPS; police departments in Yoakum, Luling, Moody and Edna; the sheriff’s offices in Leon, Falls, McLennan, Jackson and Bell counties; the Texas Department of Criminal Justice; the U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI.

The Task Force investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected. Harris is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail on a burglary charge in connection with the Edna attack.

His age is surely a HUGE surprise to me. Everything else fits, though. Very exciting news.

It just hit me that a man doesn't just up and start raping women in his 50s. I wonder how many other rapes they might be able to solve with this arrest?
