I would consider a jury’s belief that she is covered by Texas’ castle law a worse crime than the murder itself. It would prove some sort of manipulation of the jury by authorities. This is just beyond stupid!!!

No rational human being would support that. The people of Texas are just and honorable. They will send this unstable woman to prison.

Amateur opinion and speculation.

How could anyone miss that rug...

If she gave CPR she would have had blood on her. That is why I asked earlier anther uniform. But now that I am looking at the rug again where is the blood? She would have had blood on the soles of her shoes and clothing. Also I posted an article about a witness stating the police officers told residents to stear clear of the blood pool.

Snip:Officials have remained tight-lipped about what the officer's physical and mental state was at the time, whether she was under the influence of a controlled substance, why she thought Jean's apartment was hers, and why a trained officer seemed so quick to use deadly force.

Guyger arrived home just before 10 p.m. Thursday and parked her car on the fourth level of the apartments' garage, the levels of which correspond to the floors where residents live.

Guyger called 911, turned on the lights and saw the apartment number on the front door: #1478. Her apartment was directly below, #1378. End Snip.

Officer who shot man says she mistakenly entered his apartment. His family doesn’t believe it.

Snip:
A Dallas police officer stands charged with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a man she mistakenly thought was in her apartment, but a prosecutor would not rule out a more serious charge Monday.

"The grand jury will be that entity that will make the final decision in terms of the charge or charges that will come out of this case," Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson told reporters. "We prepare to present a thorough case to the grand jury of Dallas County, so that the right decision can be made in this case."

Though Jean's family stood alongside Johnson at her news conference, they also appeared minutes later at a separate news conference with St. Lucia's prime minister and three attorneys. There, they told reporters that they felt Johnson and other officials had not been forthcoming with information about Botham Shem Jean's death. End Snip.

Dallas police officer could face stiffer charge for killing unarmed neighbor

Snip:At a news conference Monday evening, Merritt said two independent witnesses have told him they heard knocking on the door in the hallway before the shooting.

Sgt. Michael Mata, president of Dallas' largest police union, the Dallas Police Association, said Guyger was a respected officer who worked on a high-risk team tasked with arresting some of the most violent offenders. On the day of the shooting, her unit had arrested multiple suspects for armed robbery, he said. End Snip.
Attorneys question officer's account of neighbor's shooting

From KLRT FOX 16 NEWS:
An interview with Professor Chuck Hicks from Harding University’s Good News Singers about Botham:
Full Interview: Professor Remembers Former Student Killed by Dallas Police

To say the least and IMO, we are all angered, heart-broken, etc... for this needless death. I cannot imagine the anguish his wonderful family must be experiencing, but I marvel at their spirit because of the hope they have in Botham’s life with God. What an extraordinary young man he was because of the indelible impact he has had on so many lives in the short time he was alive.
However this case plays out, AG needs to understand her complete lack of professionalism and self-control has left a void that will never be filled; there won’t EVER be another “Botham.”

I hope it’s within the TOS to post the following brief glimpse into Botham’s many talents. If not, I sincerely apologize to our moderator for increasing your workload; please discard it if I’ve overreached my boundaries:

How kind of you to post this remembrance of honor. We are all here together because of this lovely man.
Botham Shem Jean.

Snip: It took almost three days before Guyger, 30, was arrested on a warrant for manslaughter after the fatal shooting of Botham Shem Jean, 26, and booked in a jail in neighboring Kaufman County. She was later released on a $300,000 bond, reported NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

That was totally their call, that was totally their responsibility, that was totally their lead," Johnson said at a news conference about how investigators first handled the case. "I cannot dictate to the Texas Rangers the process, the investigation, what they do and what they don't do."

On Monday night, NBC affiliate KXAS obtained a warrant for a search on Jean's home that was executed Saturday. The warrant sought "evidence of a criminal offense" and listed items including "fired projectiles," cartridge casings, and "trace evidence such as blood." It also listed "any contraband, such as narcotics, and other items that may have been used in criminal offenses ... ."

Authorities also sought a laptop and iPhone 7 Plus from Jean's apartment, according to the warrant. End Snip.

Prosecutor open to murder charge against officer who killed neighbor

Let’s put all the how and why aside for a second. I still can’t wrap my head around why it seems like most police departments seem to circle the wagons around an office that shoots an innocent person. It just continues to erode the public trust in them regardless of the situation. I think the police should never be allowed to investigate themselves.

To me, if the police department immediately stand with the officer in an off duty shooting it becomes an “officer involved shooting”. If the officer is off duty, the officer should be treated like any other suspect and by that I mean immediately questioned and if they refuse to cooperate then handle it like a non-officer shooting. They should not be able to have it both ways.

Can anyone honestly say that if this situation involved anyone else but a police officer it would be handled this lightly?

If Amber shot the victim as he opened the door, I would guess he fell backward or back and to the side, so probably no blood outside the door. For all we know, the door may haven’t been opened all the way. This may be where the term “ajar” came from.

I cannot find it now my quick break is almost over, I posted an article with a tenant stating that he and others had to be escorted to their apartment and to stear clear of the blood. I have to wait until tonight when I get home from work to find it. So there was blood in the hallway according to a tenant that was interviewed by the media.
