You are thinking about the 1991 murder of Nancy Ludwig in Romulus, Michigan. Her killer was eventually caught and is currently serving a life sentence.

There was also a woman who was posting about her friend who was murdered and she was a flight attendant for an airline based out of Atlanta. Her name was Terry I think.
