That other case is in Italy. I was just trying to get an idea of what might happen in the case of obesity. He's basically half her weight.

Well, she isn't going anywhere but they need to turn off her cableTV and other luxuries.

Good idea, MsRusty. Get that infirmary furnished with a bed and a chair for someone her size, limited meals and put her in there.

I still can't believe she just killed a little 2 yr old. That's so horrible.

Exactly, I'm not saying anything about her size I'm only upset that this could actually keep her out of prison. Maybe they can order a gastric bypass before locking her away.

Same here, MsRusty, she should be in jail for what she did. Hopefully they are making preparations.

This sounds silly, but I guess I didn't realize someone had to help "clean" a person that weighs this much. I never really thought about it that much. So was this lady home alone all that time with the little boy by herself? Or was someone else there to help her go to the bathroom and wipe her etc?

Not only did the aunt have the 2 1/2 year old, but it says the mother had also left her 2 younger children there.
So this mother had 3 children all under the age of 3? :furious:

How does someone let themselves get to a weight of 800 pounds?

I have swam with sea mammals that weigh less!

I think the findings of homicide were so NOT a surprise-the original story by this woman defied common sense...absolutely unbelievable that a responsible parent would leave the kids IMO, but we do not know what kind of choices this mother was forced to make and how agreeable this relative appeared to be.

Nancy Grace featured this last night, but I fell asleep before it came up. Did anybody catch it?

From the above article:
"Whatever the county and court system has to do in reference to the death of this child, we'll do it," Hidalgo County District Attorney Rene Guerra said. "We can't let someone's physical disability stand in the way of justice."

I hope this is true, I don't care how many walls they have to take down to get her out of the house, if she's responsible she needs to be locked away. PERIOD. This case has sickened me. I'm disgusted with both the aunt and the mother. I also think this shows just how often CPS fails these kids.

According to an article (linked below) this mother signed an agreement that this particular relative would NOT watch her children for her because of her disabilities. This situation should never have happened... I think the mother should be charged with murder along with the Aunt.

correct me if i am wrong but this happened in texas right? put her in a tent in the prison court yard and feed her nutraloaf. no danger of her not fitting in the cell that way and her weight will not be a problem long with that food.

Do we have tents in TX? I read somewhere that obese prisoners are kept in isolation for their own safety. Apparently they're easily targeted for whatever. So I'm sure somebody this size would definitly be isolated. And if she's going to be isolated she can tend to her own cleaning.

Gurrr...I should NEVER post during this time of month but I just can't help it today! How in the world is a bed ridden 27 YEAR OLD able to purchase enough food to maintain an 1000+ pound body weight? Some crazy person brings her mounds of food daily, (Who pays for it?) and cleans up mounds of waste daily. Where was that person? Was the poor little guy made responsible for bringing her food? Did the little guy accidently drop her side of beef while he was carrying it to her to feast on?...Was he responsible for bringing her the buckets of food she ate? I'm so ticked off right now I could scream. I bet my Blood pressure is sky high right now.

The problem I see with arresting her and putting her in prison is that the state of Texas (MY tax dollars) will be forced to care for her medical needs. She probably needs a full-time attendant to help her with a cast-iron jumbo size bed-pan. She can't possibly reach far enough to take care of her own sanitary needs! How on earth does someone survive at that weight? Can you even imagine all of the health problems? Blood pressure, cholesterol, fluid in the lungs from laying in bed 24/7...and don't forget the anti-depressants; she can't possibly be happy that way!It is not far-fetched to think that tax-payers will even have to foot the bill foor some kind of weight-reduction surgery.Seems to me that this child-killer will actually have a better life, courtesy of Texas taxpayers!

I'm thinking if she's this size, she's already on your tax dollars. She's probably on disablity and assuming she's on disability, she probably has home health coming in at least every other day-if not everday- to bathe her. She may or may not have any other health problems. (I personally know 2 people who are in the 600 pound range and other than sleep apnea they have no other ailments. But both of these people are very mobile, have held the same jobs as long as I've known them, drive,etc...) But I'm not sure she's actually bed-ridden. She may be mobile enough to get out of bed, although she can't leave the room. I'm thinking she has a fridge in her room to get her own food. Otherwise, to me anyway, I'd think somebody had to live with her...and if this were the case the children could have actually been left with them primarily.

I agree, how do you let yourself get that big? I am aware of glandular problems and whatnot but 800lbs? It is sickening. I am not sure she has a real long life span so I am guesing tax dollars won't be wasted too long, on the bright side.

I really, really like the tent idea.

What the heck is nutraloaf?!
