You are right. The car may be impounded, but not always does that happen.

What happens to your vehicle after arrest
Upon an arrest for DUI, the police may impound your vehicle. If the police do not impound your vehicle upon your arrest, a family member or friend can drive the vehicle home for you.
The officer may permit you to call someone to pick up the vehicle, or the officer may move the vehicle to a nearby legal parking spot. However, in some states, such as Washington State, impoundment is mandatory upon arrest for DUI.

.

That is what I believe happen in the case I mentioned.

DH has purchased land and is building a commercial building. The business will pay us rent on the land and building. He told me this morning we are waiting on the steel material that will frame the building. I said, "Please tell me we aren't buying it from Fred Couch."

He replied "Who's Fred Couch?"

Sigh.

You made me LOL...

Just a reminder for all. nbcdfw just announced on their broadcast news that tomorrow, 1/19, the hearing will be held that will decide if Ethan can be declared an adult. They did not announce the time of the hearing. I just hope that the hearing is held as scheduled. His attorneys are probably looking for some kind of loophole to get it postponed.

Please post anything you read or hear. Live in KS and heard nothing about this on national news...so maybe it is local news only. Thanks for this update!

I do not know this for a fact but possibly nbcdfw.com will have live streaming of this hearing. At the present time they are showing more interest in this story than the others.

Hearing Tues, Jan 19, 8:30 a.m.

After gathering more than 40,000 signatures, Mothers Against Drunk Driving plans to deliver a petition to “fight affluenza” at a court hearing Tuesday where a judge is scheduled to consider moving Ethan Couch’s case to adult court.

Even tho I'm sure the judge is "in the know" I hope he asks the defense council where their client is. It is apparent Ethan needs adult supervision probation. He totally flunked out of Juvie probation. Anyone know how to check if psycho paid off her $3000.00 bill yet? Wonder who's paying her GPS monthly bill, food, other expenses? Wonder which one will be the 1st one to call 9ll? I wonder if they would turn her in for an violation?, drinking, or drugs, my guess for drinking, her DIL, on the cell phone in the garage.:jail: I think she will see a dr for a legal script of narcotics. I also wonder why they didn't set her next court date.:moo:

Maybe, just maybe, something good can come of the Couch case, if it makes parents more aware of giving consequences for misbehavior.

I agree. But I will say, this case went way beyond not providing consequences for bad behavior - they encouraged his delinquent behavior by giving him a house and a truck and unlimited funds. They weren't just remiss and didn't know how to correct a wayward willful teen - they set him up for this delinquency in a way I have seen very few parents do. One I know comes to mind, bizarre, and thankfully that son has reached adulthood with only a misdemeanor criminal record.
