The courthouse is located downtown, and is a few miles west of the fairgrounds.

I wonder if bringing cops from other jurisdictions would be possible?

They wait until after the jury has been selected to bring up their concerns?

It really is unheard of for a trial to go on as scheduled the first time! I think they probably didn't think it would.

Even now it could still get postponed but once the jury was picked they knew they had to act before it got any closer to trial.

The Police have been voicing their concerns about the timing from the point the date was set - during the State Fair and 2 big college football games. That is why the department issued a memo stating no officers could take time off during the trial.
And, because of the DPD officer shortage, we do already have State Police helping patrol in Dallas. We're going to need more now for sure!

Shooting Involving Off Duty Officer – 1210 S. Lamar

This is interesting...
"An Internal Affairs investigation concluded that on September 9, 2018, Officer Guyger, #10702, engaged in adverse conduct when she was arrested for Manslaughter.
Officer Guyger was terminated for her actions."
I had not caught before that something she did on the 9th during her arrest in Kaufman was why she was terminated - not the actual shooting.

Dallas police officer who shot neighbor fired by department
Mitchell said that adverse conduct is “conduct which adversely affects the (morale) or efficiency of the Department or which has a tendency to adversely affect, lower, destroy public respect and confidence in the Department or officer.”

JMO but I think they fired her under pressure and this is the reason they gave.
Sadly it’s a moot point - that she was fired - because both sides agreed (in court hearing) not to say anything about it. Also one could conclude the prosecution does not need -this fact- to win the case.

I'm really confused about why a search warrant was issued on the victim's apartment. AG wasn't in there on official business so why in the world would they be investigating his premises instead of hers? What could they possibly have found that would exonerate an intruder coming into a man's apartment and shooting him dead immediately? And since there was nothing, then what's the logic in searching it?
drugs.

This is an old video but around 1:15 mark - covers the door & lock.
Will be interesting at trial to see exactly what happened with the door & the lock and trajectory of the bullets ....when compared to AG’s version.

A crime is like a sound. It does not exist if there is no one there to hear it.

I think the Handsome Sailor is right, and a few threads back I suggested the smell of marijuana was what took her to his apartment for a "bust". The smell probably permeated through the vents in to her apartment. I think this is a very plausible possibility, and perhaps the impetus for her gunslinging raid?

Amateur opinion and speculation

I wish we did things like in Japan. Where fault is determined by percentages. Like, if you get in a car accident, it might be 60% your fault and 40% hers.

So you think she was lying during the 911 call when she insisted 20 times that she went to the wrong apt.?

Yes. Either way, whether she was lying or not, she should never be allowed to ever own a gun. I am not even sure that she should be allowed to drive a car.
Well if the tables were turned and it was some guy walking into a cop's apartment and killing him, he'd never see the light of day to be able to drive a car.

Comparing this to a car accident: He was sitting in a legally parked car and she tried to park in the same space while he was already there. 0% his fault, 100% her fault, like they would determine in Japan. Oh, and he had a license and insurance and current registration. And the parking meter had time paid for in it.

I have a friend who parked his car in the street in the front of his house, just like he always does. Someone who apparently must have had some type of comparative negligence insurance, rammed into his car. The insurance company determined it was 95% their client's fault and 5% his fault. When he asked why it was 5% his fault when his car was parked correctly, they told him the bottom line was if he had parked somewhere else, the accident wouldn't have happened. He didn't get it---neither do I.

Valid point.

We lived in student housing when we were in college, at BYU, everyone had little kids, and all of the apartments looked pretty much the same. It wasn't uncommon to be doing something, and a little kid would come running in, go to the bathroom, grab a juice box from the fridge, and run back outside.

That is okay if you are four years old. Age 30? There is a problem there.

Agree Beach Sky. Definitely a game changer if the info doesn't match her account.
And, this answers 2 questions posters have asked too. This info is why they got the search warrants, so they could confirm or dispute her account; not so they could look for drugs.
It also says AG's apartment was searched with her approval. So no search warrant was needed.
