Posts from Guyger's Pinterest account now being shown to the jury. A post that says "I wear all black to remind you not to mess with me, because I'm already dressed for your funeral."

Another post showing someone holding a gun with the caption "stay low, go fast. kill first, die last. one shot, one kill. no luck, all skill."

Another post that says "People are so ungrateful. No one ever thanks me for having the patience not to kill them."
That post had one of those minions from Despicable Me in the picture, and Guyger captioned it "Grateful minion."

The court is taking a break.

I’m not really sure that these texts and her sexting with a married coworker really prove other than she wasn’t qualified to be in a situation standing judgement over someone with a deadly weapon in her hands.

Her actions show her to be careless and dishonest, and with extremely poor judgement

I want her to get a fair sentence that won’t get overturned.

Yeah, THIS is the stuff that bothers me. Way aggressive, and way too easy to soak into your consciousness when armed. Add that on top of seeing an unfamiliar male in a place you feel entitled to be in (especially if you may be uncomfortable with his race), and you've got a disaster.

On WFAA they just said the law changed in 2017 wrt the appeal bond, so that regardless of time sentenced (10 years and less vs. 11 or more) she will NOT be allowed to be free while waiting on an appeal. In other words, she's going to jail today regardless of the length of the sentence.

It's inflammatory and unnecessary. JMO

I don't agree because she tried to characterize herself as a soft-spoken woman, a police officer dedicated to helping people. This shows who she really was, an aggressive officer who thought her profession elevated her above others.

I’m not really sure that these texts and her sexting with a married coworker really prove other than she’s not a very moral or quality person to be a law enforcement officer and not anyone to promote.

They're not being presented to prove she committed a crime. But character evidence is relevant to sentencing:

"I wear all black to remind you not to mess with me, because I'm already dressed for your funeral."

"stay low, go fast. kill first, die last. one shot, one kill. no luck, all skill."

Reminds me of the police officer that shot Daniel Shaver who had the words "You're " engraved on his patrol rifle. For some reason law enforcement really seems to attract these gunslinger wannabes.

Also testifying was Allisa Findley, Jean's sister, who told the jury that she and her mother cry a lot, and that her father is "not the same." She says it's as if the light behind his eyes has been turned off.

Findley says she worries about how her youngest brother has reacted to Jean's September 2018 shooting.
Victim's Family Testifies at Sentencing Of Guyger Trial

“The hardest day for us is a Sunday,” explains Botham Jean’s father Bertrum. “It makes me cry, because Botham would be singing.”
Tonight, the family of Botham Jean sits down with me and discusses why each trip to Dallas, these days, is a painful journey...10pm on #WFAA

This verdict is exactly what we were looking for," the Rev. Sammie Berry, pastor of Dallas West, said after court recessed, adding that the verdict "lets us know that the God we serve is still on the throne."

"God is still in control," Berry said to shouts of agreement from those around him.

"This is what justice looks like," one Jean family supporter said exuberantly as court recessed for lunch.
Relief prevalent as Dallas community reacts to Amber Guyger guilty verdict

Those texts should not have been brought into evidence.

This is exactly the kind of evidence that happens in this phase. If the victim had anything aggressive, violent, racist, etc in his pass, do you not think the defense would present that? The only reason there feels like a disparity in all this evidence, is because the victim was a wonderful human being. Her attornies have the right to present character evidence for their client, and the prosecution has the right to refute it with their own.

This evidence was sought and found through a search warrant and that discovery was provided to the defense. This evidence is status quo in a punishment phase.

They should. Evidence of character is admissible during the sentencing phase.

These texts are snapshots in time, some were said in jest, we don't see the entire context of any of them or what she faced that particular day...etc. It's only there for shock value and to inflame opinions. It is not in my opinion equal to what a judicial proceeding should include. If I were a juror and had to be subjected to that I'd dismiss it.

Have you ever watched a punishment phase. This is what they look like. The fact that she thinks racist remarks are funny, shows her character. The fact that she thinks joking about killing people is funny, shows her character.

That's why there are two sides to the sentencing phase. She gets to present that if true.

And it is shocking. I have never made any such statements. In jest or otherwise. Unless quoting someone who did so. And that would be apparent by the context.
