“The suspect in the murder of a University of Texas freshman was reported as a runaway to Killeen police
less than a month ago.

Meechaiel Khalil Criner, 17, was in Child Protective Services custody when he was reported as a runaway on March 24.”

Wonder if he took a bus from Killeen to Austin and why to Austin? It cost less than $20.00 on a weekday. Maybe someone on the bus would remember him and his demeanor.

snip

As the figure passed the suspect and continues toward the bridge, the suspect watched her, puts the kickstand down on the bike, reaches into the back of his pants with his left hand and pulled out what appeared to be a shiny rigid object. The suspect then followed the female across the bridge and onto the sidewalk that extends behind the Alumni Center and runs along the west bank of Waller Creek."

This says it all IMO.

In it, Criner recounts enduring bullying in his younger years over his clothing and his "African-like accent," and describes the six months he spent in foster care when he was in fifth grade as "a really harsh time in my life." He claimed he was the victim of physical violence while in foster care, saying "People can be mean and hateful."
The article ends by saying Criner's future goals were unclear, "but there is one thing Criner aims to accomplish. 'Every day, I feel people think I'm not capable of much,' Criner said. 'What I want to leave behind is my name. I want them to know who Meechaiel Criner is,'" KSLA reports.

Investigators: Oklahoma teens accused of murdering family wanted to be known as serial killers

I could swear in the very beginning of the video of him, it looks like he's smoking. You can see "breath" come out of his mouth but I don't think it'd be cold enough for that. Maybe he was smoking k2 just beforehand??

The mobility of the suspect is interesting in light of statements by his grandmother (see below). It appears he was enrolled at Texas High School in Texarkana in Dec 2014 (article in school news), where, according to the grandmother, he disappeared in August 2015. Recent reports have him attending high school in Killeen, TX just weeks ago. The distance from Texarkana to Killeen is around 350 miles. He then disappeared from KIlleen Mar 24, as reported to Child Protective Services, ending up 60 miles away in Austin. Who was he living with in Killeen? Did he have problems while in Texarkana or Killeen? Was he on medication in Killeen?

According to his grandmother:

"...he had a problem, he talks to himself and walks back and forth like he's fighting himself," said Criner's grandmother Mary Wadley, his legal guardian."

"He had a problem; that's why I tried to keep a close watch on him.”

"He was on medication to calm a quick temper, Wadley said. She fears he wasn't taking anything since he's so far from home, leaving her on edge and praying for the best."

"Criner's older sister told ABC in Houston that the teen is mentally ill."

Just an FYI: 'UT Austin was Home to the first School Mass Shooting in the USA'...

The UT Tower Shooting

On August 1, 1966, Charles Whitman climbed to the top of the University of Texas Tower with three rifles, two pistols, and a sawed-off shotgun. The 25-year-old architectural engineering major and ex-Marine—who had previously complained of searing headaches and depression—had already murdered his mother, Margaret, and his wife, Kathy, earlier that morning. He fired his first shots just before noon, aiming with chilling precision at pedestrians below. “The crime scene spanned the length of five city blocks . . . and covered the nerve center of what was then a relatively small, quiet college town,” noted executive editor Pamela Colloff in her 2006 oral history of the shootings. “Hundreds of students, professors, tourists, and store clerks witnessed the 96-minute killing spree as they crouched behind trees, hid under desks, took cover in stairwells, or, if they had been hit, played dead.”

At the time, there was no precedent for such a tragedy. Whitman “introduced the nation to the idea of mass murder in a public space,” wrote Colloff. By the time he was gunned down by an Austin police officer early that afternoon, he had shot 43 people, thirteen of whom died.

Before entering K2- i thought oh my god, the FBI is going to be here in 15 minutes- I must look like one of the finest/biggest/with the best selection/ -one stop , get anything ..............THE Wal Mart of illict drugs

Lord!

Synthetic marijuana is a designer drug in which herbs, incense or other leafy materials are sprayed with lab-synthesized liquid chemicals to mimic the effect of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient in the naturally grown marijuana plant (cannabis sativa). Synthetic marijuana, also known by the name of “Spice” or “K2” first became available in the U.S. in 2008. It was frequently marketed as an incense in colorful three ounce pouches and labeled “not for human consumption”. Spice or K2 became increasingly popular with high school students and young adults because it was legally obtainable from convenience stores, smoke shops, and online - until July 2012 when a national ban was enacted against the sale of synthetic cannabinoids in the U.S.1

Meanwhile, the sister who has evidently made a successful life, is living in "La La Land" about her brother's guilt.

Spoken like a true 2nd year law student!

The young woman believes Meechaiel was an easy police target and hopes to talk to him soon about the evidence against him. She does have a message for the victim's family and plans to stand by her brother.

"My condolences go out to the Weiser family. I am greatly, deeply sorry this happened. I'm deeply sorry but I assure you Meechaiel Criner did not do this," she said.

I feel for his family. Nobody wants to believe their loved one is capable of such a horrible thing. We see it all the time. A person is accused of heinous crime. Family members say "this can't be so" "He would never do such a thing."
]
In my mind, denial is an expected response in such a situation. The heart and mind never want to accept such information about a loved one IMO.

True enough, if your own family will not speak up for you, who will ? And people are considered innocent until proven guilty!

The Nancy Grace program this last Thursday, stated that the assault on Haruka was so horrific, that they were unable to recognize her without having identifying information sent from her home town (dental records, finger prints?).

How many cases are there of stranger killings where someone is ambushed and attacked and murdered in public? No abduction...murdered right where their paths cross? In this case. It seems like all the crime scenes were very close together.

I don't know how many exactly, but this sure as **** isn't the first case. I can think of several recent ones off the top of my head.
