Dear God, no......

That not where Botham lived. He lived at Southside flats. Am I wrong here? I’m confused
You are correct. This is a different apartment complex that Joshua was at Friday night when he was shot and killed. This apartment is off of Cedar Springs Rd. just west of the tollway. Southside Flat is near downtown.

But is this truly Botham's next door neighbor that testified? If so this is incredibly scary. I still can't find it on MSM

ETA - OMG....you are right

Dear God - I am chilled to the bone. This is really scary.

Bringing over my post from BJ thread...

I disagree [with S. Lee Merritt Esq] that JB was a key witness that helped "put Amber Guyger away." In fact, JB testified that he heard voices between BJ and AG before shots fired -- giving credence to AG's testimony that she gave commands to BJ. JB was yet another resident that also testified he'd gone to wrong apartment (floor) before.

It's indeed tragic that another young man lost his life last night but I don't believe Mr. Merritt or anybody else should be so quick to associate his death with the trial of AG.

Reviews of Atera apartments where shooting occurred cite increased crime at this complex including armed robbery of resident in the parking lot at 6pm.

Brown was still visibly shaken up from the incident when he took the stand to testify on behalf of the prosecution. His murder underscores the reality of the black experience in America. A former athlete turned entrepreneur— Brown lived in constant fear that he could be the next victim of gun violence, either state sanctioned or otherwise. We have more work to do deal with the constant threats to our community both from within and without. Brown deserves the same justice he sought to ensure the Jean family. The Dallas County criminal justice system must mobilized to identify his killer and see that he is held accountable for this murder.
DPD did not confirm the identity of the victim when responding to a Law&Crime inquiry.

Instead, they referred us to their official release on the case:

On Friday, October 4, 2019, at approximately 10:37 p.m., Dallas patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the ATERA apartments located at 4606 Cedar Spring Road. Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by several witnesses directing them to the complainant’s location. The complainant was found lying on the ground in the apartment parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported the complainant to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Several witnesses heard several gunshots and observed a silver four-door sedan leaving the parking lot at a high rate of speed. There is no additional information on the suspect(s) at this time.

The complainant did not have any ID cards on him therefore, next of kin notification will be pending the ME examination and positive identification. It is important to note that there were no additional victims regarding this shooting call. The two victims I reported earlier that showed up at Parkland Hospital was not related to this shooting. This is an ongoing investigation, and no one is in custody.

Botham Jean's neighbor, a key witness in Amber Guyger trial, shot to death in Dallas

Snipped from the article:
A key witness in Amber Guyger's murder trial was shot and killed Friday evening at an apartment complex near Dallas' Medical District.

Joshua Brown, a neighbor of Botham Jean's and Guyger at the South Side Flats apartments, was slain about 10:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of Cedar Springs Road.

Brown, 28, lived across the hall from Jean and testified about the night he was killed.

Dallas County prosecutor Jason Hermus, the lead prosecutor in the Guyger case, said Saturday that Brown stood up at a time when others won't say what they know.

"He bravely came forward to testify when others wouldn't, " Hermus said. "If we had more people like him, we would have a better world."

VICTIM FRIENDLY

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is relevant to the case.

The "victim friendly" rule extends to the family members of victims and suspects. Sleuthing family members, friends, and others who have not been designated as suspects is not allowed. Don't make random accusations, suggest their involvement, nor bash and attack them. Posting their personal information, including names, addresses, and background data -- even if it is public -- is not allowed. That does not mean, however, that statements made by family members and other third parties cannot come into discussion as the facts of the case are reported in the media.

While the 28-year-old gave his testimony in front of a jury Tuesday (September 24), he broke down in tears as he recounted the events that took place in the Dallas apartment complex on September 6, 2018, reports NBC.

Judge Tammy Kemp appeared to get teary-eyed herself after the witness and jury left the courtroom. She was clearly emotional from Brown’s testimony about the night 26-year-old Botham Jean was killed, as shown in a video shared on Twitter by NBC 5’s Larry Collins.

From inside his apartment, he could see Guyger on the phone, crying, and heard her say, “I went into the wrong apartment.”
Judge In Amber Guyger’s Murder Trial Gets Emotional After Witness Joshua Brown’s Tearful Testimony
QUOTE="imstilla.grandma, post: 15466442, member: 226068"]According to the Dallas Morning News, officers arrived on the scene at around 10:30 p.m. to the Atera apartments located at the 4600 block of Cedar Springs Road in Dallas’ Turtle Creek neighborhood.

Per that report:

Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots and saw a silver four-door sedan speeding out of the parking lot.

The Dallas Police Department (DPD) has yet release information about the victim or the suspect. But attorneys with knowledge of the case and Brown’s family confirmed Brown’s identity via social media on Saturday afternoon.

Dominique Alexander, a Dallas area civil rights activist who is close to Brown’s family, posted about his death on Facebook:

I [have] been notified that Joshua Brown who testified on the stand in the Amber Guyger trial was shot & killed last night, not sure what happen but I will keep you updated on new developments.

Lee Merritt, the attorney for Botham Jean’s family, later confirmed the news in a separate Facebook post.

“Joshua Brown, the next door neighbor of #BothamJean was killed last night after being shot several times by an unknown assailant,” Merritt noted. “Local media has reported on the shooting but have not confirmed Brown’s identity. Online reaction thus far has been fierce–with many people terming Brown’s death an “assassination,” “hit,” and/or revenge on behalf of Dallas cops. While the timing of Brown’s death is suspicious, there is at this time no evidence to support that.

Guyger’s keys still hung from the door lock when the first officers arrived.

"Come on chief," Officer Michael Lee repeatedly tells Jean while he and another officer trade places trying to resuscitate the dying man.

Several friends gathered around Guyger as Sgt. Breanna Valentine pulled into the parking garage, dash-camera video showed. Hermus asked Valentine whether the friends, who appeared to be police officers, were members of the Dallas Police Association.

“This investigation from the very beginning treated Amber Guyger differently because she was a police officer,” Hermus said.

Joshua Brown lived across the hall from Jean. He was returning home when he heard loud voices as he walked toward his apartment.

He said it sounded like "two people meeting each other by surprise" but couldn't make out what the voices were saying. After the shouting, he heard gunshots.

Defense attorneys said during opening statements that Guyger yelled "Hands" at Jean when he advanced toward her in the apartment.
