Who is the search warrant for?

For anyone who they decide to search?

How could no neighbors hear that many shots fired so close to other homes? I don't know a ton about firearms, but can you put a silencer on a RIFLE? I have only ever heard of silencers on handguns, but this one had to be very quiet. It makes no sense.

eta maybe some neighbors were out of town for Easter weekend ?

Oops, maybe this ''The thunderclaps might well have masked the gunshots, as nobody in the surrounding houses called the police.''
Could they have waited for a stormy night? It's pretty smart because this time of year we have very , very loud storms.

Wow, just turned on my tv and heard something interesting on the local news.
www.myfoxdfw.com
A neighbor was speaking with Mrs. Mclelland after the ada was killed 2 months ago.
She said (paraphrase) she didn't think that would be all of the killings . Neighbor said'
'what about mike do you think he's safe' . She replied' oh yes, he's safe'.
So that is sad but also why would she assume , with her obvious insider knowledge,
that the killing two months ago would not be the only one? Something bad was going on.
They must have known they had some seriously p**** off folks.
Hmmm
Sorry no link, but the above station should have the same video I just watched.

That seemed like a creepy coincidence to me too. As if someone watched them for a few days, learned when Mike usually got ready for bed , and chose a time when rain was forecast. I wonder it there were any muddy footprints?

IMHO, they had to have been watching them, as up until a short time ago, since the ADA's murder, they had an armed guard at the home.

JMHO

I don't think that's even accurate. There is an article linked upstream that talks about at least one neighbor hearing multiple gun shots but not reporting them to police. So thunder did not mask the gun shots.
And they weren't necessarily killed during the thunder storm.

Who says neighbors didn't hear gunshots? At least one says he did. Here is the article. Neighbor heard multiple gun shots 3-4 am in the morning. He didn't confuse them with thunder. But apparently didn't contact police about it-even though it "kind of struck him as odd."
.

"Mike Griffith says he heard multiple gunshots around 3 or 4 o’clock Saturday morning from his house — which is behind the McLelland’s. Sources say the gun used is a semi-automatic similar to an AR-15. Griffith says, “There’s no mistaking that sound. It kind of struck me as odd, so many shots and loud.”"

Sorry , I was thinking no one heard gunshots, but now it seems people did but did not report them. I thought that because it was about a day before they were discovered dead, so a lot of time passed . mooo

Texas DA was shot 20 times, wife once, federal source says

By Pete Williams and Jeff Black, NBC News

A Texas district attorney was shot 20 times and his wife Cynthia was shot once when they were gunned down in their home on Saturday, a federal source with knowledge of the investigation told NBC News.

Earlier, an affidavit in the case said each of the victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The reason for the discrepancy was unclear.

The Kaufman County Sheriff was expected to release an update on the case on Tuesday. A scheduled Tuesday morning news briefing was cancelled and reporters were told the next update would be done via a news release.

Law enforcement officials have been somewhat tight-lipped on the investigation into the double murder since the night of the killing.

Authorities are also refuting an NBC News report that says Mike McLelland was shot 20 times.

Kaufman County murders: Are you terrorized yet?

By Tod Robberson / Editorial Writer

The main culprits under suspicion for the murders of the Kaufman County district attorney and his wife, two months after the murder of Assistant DA Mark Hasse, are either white supremacists of the Aryan Brotherhood or someone attached to the Mexican drug cartels. Or both.

We don’t know for sure who did it. What we do know is that lots of North Texans are frightened by the prospect of a dangerous, armed group out there targeting individuals for assassination. It’s safe to say that the entire staff of the Kaufman County district attorney’s office is having second thoughts about their work right now.

Since the people who are being targeted have political and governmental affiliations, it is fairly safe to say that the killers have a political motive for their actions. And it is fairly safe to say that the killers are aware of the effect such killings will have on society in general. In other words, these are targeted acts of extreme violence with the goal of furthering a political agenda and instilling a sense of terror among the general population.

Folks, that’s terrorism.

That's outrageous that he heard automatic weapon fire at 3 or 4 am and didn't call the sheriff's office. wth? It wouldn't have save this couple, but perhaps a fleeing vehicle could have been spotted.

I call the police every time I hear gunfire or cars backfiring and I don't even know all the creepy neighbors that live in rental dwellings behing me.
This neighbor likely knew the DA lived behind him.

and

Law enforcement officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, are refuting a report today in the New York Post concerning initials allegedly found on a wall inside the home of slain Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and wife Cynthia.

The Post reported this morning that investigators found the initials “AR” on a wall — “indicating they were gunned down by members of the notorious Aryan Brotherhood gang,” says the story.

Federal prosecutor over Aryan Brotherhood racketeering case in Houston withdraws due to security concerns

Jay Hileman, an assistant U.S. attorney in Houston, has withdrawn from a large Aryan Brotherhood of Texas racketeering case due to security concerns.

Richard O. Ely II, a Houston defense attorney who is representing one of the 34 defendants, said Hileman sent him an email on Tuesday, informing him that he was off the case.

Ely said another Justice Department prosecutor from Washington D.C. will be assigned to the case to replace Hileman.
