I had a grandson born Thursday night. I looked at him and his 2 year old brother and all the family and friends gathered around rejoicing, when I finally got home and returned to this thread. I crashed and burned.....and yet how lucky I am. All of my 4 grandchildren are loved and cherished beyond belief! This little darling wasn’t.

congrats on the new Grandbaby.

I don't see sunglasses or a mask.

See the thumbnail on this video. I see sunglasses and a mask.
These are the last known images of Maleah Davis - CNN Video

I think she is wearing a mask. Her nose is white and artificially pointy. Enlarge the screen and you can see it better.

Around :30.
Thank you. I looked closely and it does look like she could be wearing a mask from the side angle. But the quality is not great so it's hard to tell. There are dark shadows on her face, especially her chin. It looks more like her cheek is swollen to me. Her face looks so pale.

Do you have any success stories in those years, the rare few that with a bit of help manage to change their life? Sometimes there are a few in all of the multitude of others. I can't imagine the burn out of working to help and never seeing it make a difference. Was it better in the earlier years than it is now? It sounds like with opiates and a lack of support, those things have changed things for the worse?

Were there drugs/opiates here and the children in Headstart? I am only trying to relate what we are talking about to this case to stay within rules. It would not surprise me, in fact in this case, nothing would at this time.

In this case, I am not sure any help would have made a difference but with someone young and wanting to get it right but without resources, it might.
Oh yes, last week a young man came looking for me and my assistant. We were at the same center. He was a young man we had years ago. His last class at Chapel Hill a professor declared that no Head Start child got far in life. He objected and sought us out. He starts Medical school in the fall! You rock Louis! You made me cry!

Awesome. I hope you hang onto those successes. A difference was made in that child's life!

I work with these poor kids in Head Start. So many bounce from foster home to foster home. And now opiates has raised its ugly head with these poor kids. I am thinking of leaving my profession. No, I am leaving my profession. I have for almost 40 years seen the decline in parenting, the decline in support for working with these poor kids. Done, God help me, done.
I have worked with at risk kids for most of my life, although not quite that long. (I'm not sure if I would make it 40 years!)
What seems to be common with most of the parents is a general lack of education and knowledge in child development.

Apparently the parenting classes in high school where you have to care for a "baby" don't do much good. Everything they know seems to have been passed on to them through their own parents.

No matter how hard I've tried, I have never been able to convince a parent that picking up and soothing a crying baby is not "spoiling" them.
Many wouldn't even think of sitting down on the floor and playing with their child.

And yes, many use drugs on a regular basis which only makes them incapable of dealing with the stress of caring for a demanding child. It doesn't take much for them to "lose it" and take it out on their kids.
It only takes a few seconds to cause a life-long injury. One punch or kick is all it takes. Imo

Ohhhh, that wonderful smell and curl against you! How do you ever hurt that?

only a evil person can do that.
This was no accident, that I do know. With an accident a normal human being would of called 911 or sought out medical attention. Normal person would not of concealed Malea h in a garbage bag across state lines and left her in the garbage bag on the side of the road to be run over with a lawn mower.

Said person or persons thought this out and planned it hoping decomp would set in so COD could not be found. People ha d prayed for Malea h to be found. I firmly believe in seeking justice for Malea h she will get miracal # 2. There is faith in prayer!!!
