Good point! Ours in Louisiana have also been roped off since March. I know that the caution tape doesn’t detour everyone, but I can’t imagine the park overflowing with kids.Houston is a COVID hotspot right now. Are playgrounds at parks open? Our local playgrounds were roped off earlier this year, not sure about now.
OMGThere are so many RSO at the apartment complex, it is difficult to click on each one.

So the baby wasn’t seen leaving the complex on foot I guess? If she was taken in a vehicle that would be on video - would like to know the last time she was seen by anyone besides the family.....Maliyah Bass was wearing a colorful tank top and shorts and carrying a white pillow case with letter blocks inside when she was last seen on a playground in the complex at 10600 Beechnut St.
“Her mother went inside for just a matter of minutes,” said Kese Smith, a spokesman for the Houston Police Department. She came back outside, couldn’t find the girl and called police, Smith said.
Police searched the area and reviewed surveillance video, Smith said. They found no evidence in the video that Bass left the complex.

Lets test this "last seen at the park" statement despite the fact LE says the complex video doesn't show her leaving. (Assuming the video could pick up someone of a childs height).Grandmother of missing 2-year-old Houston girl begs for her safe return

She was last seen at a park in the 10600 block of Beechnut St., wearing a black tank top with multi-colored polka dots paired with the matching pants and a pair of blue shoes.
Her grandmother cried and begged for her safe return, saying, "She's little. She didn't do anything to anybody."

“Last seen” is from the family right? She hasn’t actually been sighted by anyone other than family?

IF she were at the park, she allegedly had a pillowcase with blocks in it. IF this is true, (big IF), then logic would suggest her pillowcase with the blocks was found there.....
Amateur opinion and speculation
I had a hard time interpreting what that meant. It might suggest the child was playing in a little cubby area, or perhaps attempting to hide/get away from someone. However, we have no way to know if this rendition is accurate, just like the story about the park.In her interview the grandmother says someone found a toy under the stairs. I’m not sure if she’s referring to the stairs at the apartment complex or stairs like at the playground that you climb up. Either way, per the grandmother, it seems they did find her toy. No mention of the pillowcase.
I haven't heard that much about the mother and the father(?). Do I understand this is a couple living in the apartment with the child? Does anyone know if this is the bio father?
Amateur opinion and speculation
It struck me as odd that GMa didn't want her face on camera. Maybe that's just me, but it stood out as being odd in a missing child case.Grandmother of missing 2-year-old Houston girl begs for her safe return

Transcript of the interview with the grandmother-
Grandmother: "I was at home because I stay right up the street with my daughter in law and my son and he say 'Mama, Maliyah is missing' and I said (sons name, which I can't understand) 'What are you talking about?' and he say 'Maliyah's missing' so I tried to get down here. I was able to get down here. I was aggitated because I felt like the police was not doing anything. They did not care. Then I found out that they brought a dog out here 2 to 3 hours later to scent to find my baby. You know, she's a little girl. She's sweet, she's loving and didn't do nothing to nobody. I don't understand why they would take her, you know? I'm just mad because I feel like they're not doing everything to find my little baby girl."
Reporter: "Tell me about Maliyah. For people who are going to see this who are going to be looking for her what was she wearing? How did she look?"
Grandmother: "She had some blue shoes. I think her dad said polka dot shirt. Her hair is kind of in an afro puff, you know and she probably had one of her toys if whoever took her didnt try to throw the toy away because I think they said they found a toy under the stairwell so she's ... This is just too much, you know."
Reporter: "She was playing in this park right here, right?"
Grandmother: "Yes she was playing in the park. You know what they say, she's a happy baby. She's always smiling, she's kind, she's loving and she was just being a little girl, you know. Somebody just came and took her. Just took her."
Reporter: "Is there anything, birthmark, or anything that people should look for? Does she answer by a nickname that people would know?"
Grandmother: "No. If you say, 'Maliyah?' she'll say, 'Yes?', you know, she answers my Maliyah."
Reporter: "But no birthmarks or anything like that on her that you know of?"
Grandmother: "No not that I know of."
Reporter: "But the biggest thing is you just want your granddaughter back."
Grandmother: "I just want my baby back, you know, she didnt do anything wrong. I dont want no hard feelings or nothing. I just want them to bring her back you know? Just bring her back, you know. Oh lord this is just-"
End of interview.
My thoughts exactly. Definitely not placing blame anywhere yet, but I am curious who was supposed to be watching Maliyah. By the sounds of it, it was her dad. However, that still raises a lot of questions.
