Breaking news...CNN. Police conference still scheduled to go on at 12:15..

Aw crap........thanks for the update CP. So sad.....

Edited to add: wow - looks like she was found some 400 miles away from where she was abducted.....I'm not sure what to make of that, but it struck me as strange...

Not a whole of details as the investigation is ongoing. Tyler FBI headed to the crime scene. Chief did confirm that Megan died from a gunshot wound. Her body was found on the side of the road and visible.

My phone rang and I missed some of it but apparently they are looking at Williams for some other victims....no info as where or who. Possible serial killer!!!

just announced on CTV....body found in Texas...suspect in custody.

doesn't even have it on their website as of yet..it came across as Breaking News. She was a Walmart employee abducted from the parking lot and found in a ditch this morning.

I started a thread in the LOCATED section on her. I looked first to see if there was anything on her, but didn't check the MISSING! I apologize! I didnt' recognize her name and thought it was very recent.

How sad!! That poor girl and her family.. It didn't sound good, but I was hoping for the best.
At least htey have the SOB in custody ..

This is absolutly terrible or horrifying! My prayers are with her family. I am so glad he is in custody and something tells me he has a list of other crimes and victims.

I checked the Texas sex offender registry and there is someone listed there with the same name but the birthdate stated 1944 and the news article link above said the suspect is 24 years old. I have to say Texas' registry has much more information than many states. I think there should be national guidelines requiring all states to list more detailed information on sex offenders such as including what type of offense and victims' ages (whether an adult or child )and gender.

Prayers for justice!

She was located in a ditch - the suspect was put into custody after reporting to a hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound supposedly recieved when he tried to hold up an individual for money -

Do you mean that he tried to hold somebody up sometime AFTER abducting Megan? And he was still driving her car? Incredible!!

I was hoping that Megan had managed to shoot him during a struggle for her life. While it didn't save her, that gunshot wound is what allowed police to catch this creep so quickly.

This just breaks my heart.
From the video it looks like she almost got away. She must have been so scared. Such a tragedy. The fact that he was lurking around the store with a duffle bag and not asked to leave makes me shudder.

I am angery too. I can't believe that a young woman had to walk to her car in the back of the parking lot alone when it was pitch black outside. This tragedy could have been prevented.

Walmart seems more concerned with covering their *advertiser censored** legally than admitting any fault.

Does anyone know how to post pictures on their replies, b/c the guy in the TX registry looks a LOT like Johnny Williams, enough so to make me think he may be this guys father....

Why someone didn't report this guy to the police when he was loitering around is beyond me. I guarantee you he targeted that little girl...he probably saw her in the store and waited for her to get off work and start walking to her car. I believe he was lying in wait for her...DEATH PENALTY...esp. in Texas....you don't mess with Texas!!

This is really freaky to me!

I am 26, but I look like I could be 18 or 19. We have a shopping center with Walmart, Old Navy, Staples, Cost Plus and many, many other store. I was there Monday a little after 7pm getting an outfit to wear to the gym, since I forgot mine at home and I was on my way to the gym from work. I went into Old Navy, shopped a little, got an ourfit and left. The next day, I read in the news paper that at Staples (2 stores down...) that a local student was held at gun point and robbed just before 8pm!!!! Holy cow, I was there until about 7:30 at least. There is a great chance that they were either there when I was or that it could have been me.

Did I mention that this is in Santa Clarita (a good part of the valley too) on of the safest cities in the nation???? I am scared to go anywhere alone now....

Boy, doesn't this make you heartsick? And doesn't it make you angry?

If he just wanted her truck, why in the H*** did he have to kill her?

Too bad the person that shot him didn't have a chance to get a better aim. The sorry dog !

I think we will be hearing more about this guy. He apparently followed several women but didn't attack. Only Megan, is it because of some fantasy or he likes trucks....nah, not the trucks. The police chief made a fleeting mention that this Williams guy is being looked at for other missing and murdered. He didn't go into any detail at all. But there is some smoke there.

Williams was flying under the radar...nobody seem to know anything about him. If he hadn't gotten shot by the RV guy we wouldn't be having this discussion at all. All very curious. I am glad he is off the streets.

My heart breaks for Megan's family, especially her mother. Prayers for them in this terrible time of grief.

I also do not understand how a company large enough to have checkers at the exit doors to check your receipts does not have a security escort for young women leaving so late at night. I personally get very annoyed at walking two feet from the register at checkout and having to show my receipt. I tolerate it because I am told it is for security purposes. Why is there no security in place for employees, who are certainly more valuable than any piece of merchandise? Prayers for Megan.
 @Walmart

I totally agree with you monkalup !!! It's time for customers and employees alike to step up and tell Walmart (as well as other retailers) they'd better give better service and safty in the parking lot or we'll boycott them ! Their PR isn't all that great at the moment anyway. They'd respond. LET'S DO IT !!! We could save somebody's life.
