I am so relieved for the Wilson family, but also so heartbroken for them too. I’m sitting here crying over a woman I never knew - and I can not imagine how they are feeling. I have nieces Moriah’s age and if anyone ever hurt them I would never be okay ever again.

The family exited the courtroom with the prosecution for about 10 minutes and are now taking their seats. It's likely that was their chance to say thanks to the lawyers and have a moment of privacy. It's possible they will get a chance to testify and say their peace to Kaitlin Armstrong during the sentencing phase.

At least that prison cell she is going to spend the rest of her life in probably doesn't have a lot of mirrors, so she won't have to constantly see that rough looking face she actually had to pay for.

After being escorted away briefly, Kaitlin Armstrong is back in the courtroom at the defense table. Mr. Wilson is looking in her direction. She is slightly slouched at her seat. Not much emotion on her face. The jury is being allowed back in. We are now beginning the sentencing phase.

A Travis County jury has found Kaitlin Armstrong guilty of murder in the 2022 shooting death of cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson, 25, in East Austin. She faces up to 99 years in prison during sentencing. The jury deliberated for about 2 hours and 15 minutes before reaching the verdict.

Armstrong, 35, did not testify during the nine-day trial. Prosecution witnesses said she was jealous of Wilson for briefly dating Armstrong's boyfriend, Colin Strickland, and that she talked about wanting to kill her.

Strickland and Armstrong had broken up briefly in October 2021 when Wilson went out with him for a few weeks.

Police said during the trial that they found Armstrong's DNA on the handlebars and bicycle seat of Wilson's bicycle after she was killed the night of May 11, 2022. She was shot four times at a garage apartment on Maple Avenue where she was staying with a friend. There was no forced entry to the apartment, investigators said.

State and defense waive opening statements. The state will call a number of witnesses, including Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Wilson, Matthew Wilson and Caitlin Cash. They are all being simultaneously sworn in.

First witness: Caitlin Cash. She takes a deep breath and takes the hands of each of the Wilson family before going up to the witness stand.

Cash says she is nervous. When asked about how close she was with Mo, she tears up and says she's not sure where to begin. "Begin wherever you want to begin," Jones reassures her.Cash says she met the Wilson family first when doing social media for a cycling event in Vermont. She says she kept seeing the Wilson family on the side of the road. Cash and the Wilson's hit it off. Cash says Mo "moved her beyond belief." Talks about her grit and determination.Cash fondly recollects the time she spent with Matthew and eventually meeting Mo. The races they competed in together and their first time ever actually meeting.Kaitlin Armstrong has her eyes low. It doesn't look as if she is looking at Cash. Her eyes may even be closed. Matthew has his head down and his family is comforting him in the front row.

The jury is now in a brief recess while logistics are worked out ahead of the punishment phase. In the punishment phase, more witnesses can be called. This will determine the full sentence.

Wilson's loved ones are crying and embracing. Armstrong's father is holding the hand of Armstrong's sister. Her mom is seated in between them.

Both sides waive openings for sentencing. Mo's mother, father, brother and Caitlin Cash were just sworn in as witnesses for sentencing. They're about to speak.

Cash says the day before the day Wilson died was a good day. She had picked Wilson up from the airport and the two spent the whole night laughing and catching up.
