So he walked to a store and then continued walking? He couldn’t have been that injured then.

Head injuries can be very misleading. People will often say they are fine after suffering a head trauma only to die hours or days later. Read the story of the death of actor Liam Neeson’s wife Natasha in 2009.
It’s possible that NH did not realize he was severely injured as he walked away from the store and then collapsed later.

This is true. And so horrible about Natasha Richardson! :(We thought this initially in Jason Landry’s case too (and could still be the case).

But someone on that thread talked about how it’s quite rare to have a fatal head injury and seem fine for a while. It happens, but not often. I don’t know statistics on that or anything, but surely it’s rare? In any case I hope he’s found soon. Too many young men disappearing after wrecking their cars in Texas.

Missing Liberty Co. 22-year-old last seen walking away from car crash

Jan 15, 2021

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A search is underway for a missing 22-year-old man in Liberty County, days after he was last seen along a farm road.

According to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, Nathan Allen Heathco, 22, was driving on FM 1409 to visit a friend.

Deputies say Heathco's vehicle left the road and crashed into a ditch in the 8700 block of FM 1409 around 4 a.m.

Deputies responded to the scene due to an abandoned vehicle call, but by the time they arrived, Heathco was gone. Family members say he hasn't been seen since.

[..]

Across the street from the crash site, security cameras at the ESD #3 Volunteer Fire Department captured Heathco walking to a nearby store and then south on FM 1409.
____________

Given the hour -- I don't believe NAH found the store open but was captured on video walking in the direction of the store. MOO

This is crazy . . . another young man walking away from a car crash . . . and nowhere to be found! Really hoping he is discovered soon - so stressful for family and friends. I wonder if there is any news/evidence of what caused the car crash. It was very late - early morning 4:00 AM - more information would be helpful as to why he was going to a friends at that time? Maybe they both worked shift work of some kind. Also, have we heard whether the friend was expecting him or not. Moo

In Jason Landry’s case, LE was initially unconcerned to find an abandoned, wrecked car at night. They said it’s usually someone leaving the wreck to avoid a DUI, so perhaps that’s what we have here? Maybe he hasn’t come forward to avoid being in trouble? I hope so b/c that’s best case IMO.

Yes, it is pretty rare, but it does happen. It is one of the reasons people with severe concussions are watched so carefully for 24 hours.
There does seem to be an unusual number of disappearances after accidents lately. The accidents are usually at night and the vehicles are inoperable. The drivers get out and begin to walk and seem to vanish into thin air. One would think they’d walk along the side of the road, but why aren’t they found?
