Hunt "why did we bring you 4 mental heath professionals?"

:dunno: Because you like to torture us???

Why would the defense play this portion of the tape... they must want him to get the DP as well.

:floorlaugh: I wouldn't put it past whizkid to have a 'who needs to die' list and those two defense attys may be on the top of it.

I think it is weird that they refer to CO's as "jailers". This trial is the 1st time I've heard that term.

"This terrible situation that he is in" WTF???? He put himself in this situation! :gavel:

'Whenever he has dealt with authority figures he has been polite and cooperative'.

Except when he unloaded and killed Officer Padron. That wasn't very polite.

They had said he stole veggies, but I saw steak, champagne, and candy.

They should give that too him for his last meal.
Who cares if it's 20 yrs old, it's not like it's really going to matter if he gets sick from eating it.

"There is no way a death sentence is justifiable for Brandon Daniel. That is very clear to me." - Hunt.

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Hunt w/ more mitigating factors: Hard worker, work has helped the world, he loves Jenna, he is loved by others, he is young & can overcome.

:puke:

Jaime Padron's life had meaning. He should not have died.

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Hunt wraps up his argument. Here comes Gary Cobb

So glad ADA Cobb is reminding the jurors of the victim, Senior Officer Jaime Padron!

"In this community there has to be a certain balance. We are unbalanced because we lost a community member." - Gary Cobb

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb talking just about Jaime Padron. One woman on Padron side of courthouse starts sobbing.

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
"Jaime Padron when he was 17 yo, signed up to serve our country in war time.... he joined the Marines. Marines are always first to go."

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
"You have two individuals, one who all his life has tried to pretend he will follow rules and do good in society." - Cobb

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
"He responded to that call.Didn't think it was a threat. That's the mistake everyone makes w/ defendant. They don't think he is a threat."

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb calls Padron's death "A cold-blooded assassination."

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
"In our society we are very critical of police until we need police. And then we are less critical," says Cobb. "Cops run to the gunshots."

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb is now using physical evidence to show the jury. Gun and the clips

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
"He was telling everyone who was listening, he wasn't sad about it, he said 'I killed a cop." - Cobb.

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
"When we talk about getting balance, look at what we have lost, look at what he has cost us, and now he plans to profit from that." - Cobb

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb reminding jurors that in jury selection that all said they could administer the death penalty law regardless of their personal opinions

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb said after Padron family left crying on first day of testimony, state talked to them & said they don't want to try & influence jurors.

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb has a slide up that says "Confluence of Morbidities." First bullet point says *Mom

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
"You will never see a newspaper story saying we got the wrong person in this case, but send him to prison and...." cont

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
"you will see a headling: Cop Killer Kills Again." - Cobb says Daniel is a future danger when, not if, he gets drugs and alcohol in prison.

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
"If you send him to prison without parole, you know who pays for him to be retired at 25 living the dream? We the taxpayers."

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb says Jaime Padron's daughter will pay for room and board for the man who killed their father.

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb says so many witnesses have talked about what can be done for Daniel. Cobb says jury needs to do what is right for community.

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb, demonstrative with his hands, walks towards defense table bringing an objection from Russ Hunt.

Chris Sadeghi @chrissadeghi
Cobb again showing the jail video of Daniel taking a bow when news coverage of a court hearing comes on the jail TV.

Sit down mister defense attorney!

I've never heard one side raise objections during the other side's closing statements.

IMO Outrageous.
