I have no sympathy for SM; my hinky meter was off the charts on her from the get-go. I too had posts deleted regarding her. No decent - or half decent, even - parent leaves a toddler alone to go out to dinner!

I have a 3-year old who is a literal nightmare at restaurants. Just last week my mom invited my siblings and I and our families out to a nice restaurant, her treat. I declined, and instead cooked a meal for 14, cleaned up after said meal, AND had to listen to my mother's latest 2 hour story about the feral cats in the woods. All that to avoid taking my toddler to a restaurant. And it was totally worth it considering my last attempt at eating out resulted in 2 broken glasses and the scaling of Mount Cash Register.

It just sickens me that these 2 'parents' did this to that sweet girl. Whether they beat her to death or near-death before their dinner, restrained her in a high chair, or sedated her, one way or another the truth will come out and I hope justice is swift and harsh. Myself being a nurse and mom, IMO SM is a sorry excuse for either.

I am of the opinion that this child did not accidentally die.
You do not make up stories around accidents.
When was Sherin murdered?
Her body may have been in the refrigerator, which might be why there was a dinner out. Still in the kitchen.
Nighmares.

Might depend on the nature of the "accident." In the drugging scenarios, the intent would not be murder, but control. Nonetheless, if the outcome was death, there would be fear of consequences if authorities were called.

I don't love the drug scenarios, or the night out motivation. For one thing WM already set the stage for conflict (over drinking milk). It makes sense that the cover story would draw from actual events. And I tend more in the direction of anger/rage/control than calculation. At this point I don't have a clue who was driving--Wesley, Sini or both. Clearly there are folks claiming to know the family who have no love for Sini. Whether they are reliable or not is anyone's guess.

One thing clear from this latest--LE knows more than we do. And they will only share in due time.

Yes, I could see the possibility that CPS would allow monitored visits.

A restraining order is only effective if the holder of the RO contacts LE if the perp breaks the order. But if the family doesn't report it, I don't see how CPS can successfully prevent visitation.

And since CPS is sending the child to live with Mom's sister, they don't seem to be too concerned with Mom being in contact at some point. JMO

From my experience with my ex, my kids paternal grandparents were allowed unsupervised visits but my ex was not. He lived there and had to leave if the kids were there. CPS new the times and dates of all visits and did pop in a few times. One time though, the kids said that he was there and he slept on the couch... that ended unsupervised visits, it would have ended supervised visits too, but the kids still wanted to see them (at that point), a short while later bio dad and his mom went to CPS for their visit and flipped out about it not being fair that the grandpa (kids didnt want to see him), wasn't allowed etc. The kids were escorted out of the building via a safe route, the building was on lockdown and LE was called but they left before LE arrived, no charges were pressed, but after that visits with paternal grandparents were cut completely and visits with bio dad were considered dangerous so security was actively present, only the actual case worker and not another case worker etc would supervise and a panic button to alert LE was worn at all times by the worker in the visit. My youngest was the only one at this point who still wanted to visit and then decided not to, so it was over.

Long story short, if you are caught having access that is outside of the rules, the child is removed from that situation. Had they showed up at our home and tried to see the kids and we allowed it, the kids would have been removed and rights would have been severed, had they showed up and we called LE they would have been arrested for going against a child protection order. So, basically, if Sini's sister gets the child, and the child says they saw mommy, or CPS pops in and Sini is there etc, the child would most likely be removed and the family could be charged with knowingly endangering a child (not sure what the charge is called), could risk losing their own children as well because they are allowing someone who is deemed dangerous, to be around their kids, AND Sini would have her bail/bond revoked as I am sure her terms of release would be very similar to what WM had.

I also lean in the direction of anger/control being the catalyst of Sherin's death.
I would like to know when Sherin was last seen alive, by someone who is not part of her death.
I think both parents are capable of rage.
Was Sini controlled by Wesley, or Wesley by Sini? Who ruled by rage in this family?
Who really decided to go to dinner without Sherin that night?
Was this such a regular occurrence that Sherin's sister wouldn't have questioned it? i.e. it was family normal, the way stuff gets normalized in dysfunctional families.
Was this a joint Sini/Wesley venture?
Or was this Sini led, and Wesley following, or Wesley led and Sini following?
So many questions....

I think it was GrouchyMom who explained to me in private that the lesser charges that cause death, like manslaughter etc, actually carry less of a sentence than what WM is charged with now. His current charge has the same sentencing as a typical murder charge and at this point, can easily be argued to a jury, where a murder charge may not be found to have sufficient evidence to a jury, thus resulting in something like manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter and little to no prison time. She used another case where a child was violently thrown up in the air and bounced off the ceiling iirc by people on drugs and they were found guilty of a charge less than murder and were given a small slap on the wrist, this injury to a child charge, is a newer charge to help stop cases falling through that legal gap, from what I understand. Hopefully GrouchyMom will see this and be happy to elaborate with proper detail because my mind is defective tonight!

This was awhile ago when we had this chat so I could be remembering wrong, but it made sense at the time! I feel that as of right now WM's charge is sufficient, as like Perlich said, it carries the same sentence. I am one who doesn't tend to agree with the death penalty, but in this case I hope that the charges are bumped up to capital murder and that way the lesser sentence, if found guilty, would be life instead of death, and a lesser charge, would be murder and would carry the same sentencing guidelines as he currently faces.

IMO I think that they have a better chance with the evidence we have been told, to get a max sentence on the injury charge right now, than if they were to switch it to murder. Again, based on what they have released to the public and not the autopsy or other evidence. I definitely feel that they are preparing to go big with the charge.

A concern I had earlier this evening was that we saw Sini's arraignment. I know nothing fancy, but to my knowledge, we are not aware of WM's arraignment date or if it has even happened. I assume it has, but the concern I have is if he was not arraigned or if he was arraigned privately, could it be because he is working withe LE in exchange for a plea?

Could you explain further please?

I hate even the thought of this, could a feeding tube have been used? WM said he watched Sherin's breathing slow down, then stop.

That is very good to hear that your experience with CPS has been that they are on the baLL and organized.

I am from the state of California, where several CPS workers are about to stand trial, over the total lack of effort and concern, for sweet Gabriel, who was tortured mercilessly by two monsters, and died a horrific death---after dozens of people--teachers, family, neighbors, and the victim himself-- tried to tell CPS about the ongoing abuse/torture and his years of visible injuries.

So I have little faith that our hapless CPS won't let something like an RO fall through the cracks.

The goal was to get her to eat. So they went to dinner and left her home. Does that make sense?

wow.

I WISH I could say I was surprised. But it was so hard to believe that a Mom could snore through all that chaos. And it made no sense that a father wouldn't wake up his sleeping wife, WHO WAS A NURSE, if their child was dying.

How could she go out to eat and leave her 3 yr old home alone, with a blasted glass of milk? That is disgusting.

And now I am worried about the surviving daughter, still being in that family. I hope they have thoroughly vetted the family she is living with.

We all questioned why the father did not wake the mother who is an R.N. when Sherin was in distress. This entire restaurant situation makes me now wonder when was actual time of death. Poor sweet baby. No telling what she endured and for how long.

Amazing comments all. I am also aghast, remembering the few age3 'timeouts' for my son. 3min max and then moving on. But even in those 3mins he knew his loving Mum was just in the next room. I do think that this tragic situation was an escalated 'battle of wills', clearly in which the parents have lost any sense of proportion, morality or love. But I do think sweet S was left (to 'teach her a lesson') and was unresponsive on return, tangled in high chair, or fitting after uncontrollable crying/screaming. Such horrid parents to inflict such abandonment.
Poor little cherub RIP.

I think a senario could go like this.

Sherin likes to go out to eat but won't drink her milk before going. Family is getting angry and decides to leave her at home to teach her a lesson. You don't drink your milk you can't come. Of coarse they didn't Bring her food home. This was a punishment. Abandoning a child who very likely already has abandonment issues and withholding food she wants to eat.

Come home and she still has not drank the milk and will not. They are in a power struggle over milk. Sounds silly to type it. But dealing with a child with possible rad and feeding issues has taking the family to the edge.

Maybe sherin is put to bed without dinner or milk. She gets up at 3 am hungry and is physically assisted with drinking the milk this time.

Just noticed why why posted something similar while I was typing.

The “milk” story is a red herring, IMO.
Milk is a metAphor.

Amateur speculation and opinion.

Milk is a metaphor for something else.

I've thought the same exact thing from the beginning! There is way too much covering up, and story changing going on ....for it all to be about milk, pediasure, or any other nutritional drink!! These people make me sick!
