Brandon Bevers, who spoke publicly in the early months of the investigation, is also keeping quiet on the first anniversary of his wife’s murder. “The family has unilaterally decided not to do any interviews,” he wrote in a response to our latest invitation to talk with Nancy Grace on “Crime Stories.” “We have elected not to memorialize the date of the event, but celebrate her life in private instead.”

Still no answers one year after Missy Bevers murder

“The morning of April 18, 2016, if you would have told me that we would be in this parking lot talking about this case a year later, I would have thought you were out of your mind,” said Midlothian Assistant Chief Kevin Johnson.

“The morning of April 18, 2016, if you would have told me that we would be in this parking lot talking about this case a year later, I would have thought you were out of your mind,” said Midlothian Assistant Chief Kevin Johnson.

It's a vital piece of information that we want to protect until we have an opportunity to confront the killer with it,” Johnson said.

Her husband, Brandon Bevers, didn't talk Monday. But in prior interviews, he has said he didn't believe she was the killer’s target.
...

“Sometimes there’s a lot of work to be done on the case and sometimes there’s not a lot,” Johnson said. “It’s still very much active and open.”

Is the killer someone investigators are already familiar with? Johnson couldn’t answer that question.

“There's lot of split opinions on the case whether the killer was familiar with the church, whether the killer was familiar with her schedule, whether she was targeted or not or whether it was random,” Johnson said. “Some people believe it may have been a burglary gone bad. Some people are adamantly against that theory. Some people see a woman in that video. Some people see a man. more at link http://www.wfaa.com/news/crime/still-no-answers-one-year-after-missy-bevers-murder/431968162

Hunt Continues for Missy Bevers' Killer as 1-Year Anniversary Nears
The quest for answers in the murder of mother and fitness instructor Missy Bevers continues as the one-year anniversary of the death draws near.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including local police, the FBI and the Texas Rangers are investigating. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Hu...er-as-1-Year-Anniversary-Nears-419652663.html

**no quotes from anyone and nothing new in this small article. It states as if the Rangers are still investigation although MPD stated they were only there few week at beginning. So jmho just an obligated short article.

Even now, police said they still don’t know if she was targeted or not.

“The random theory, if you will, is kind of a worst case scenario for police,” said Assistant Police Chief Kevin Johnson. “If there was no connection with the killer and the church, the killer and Missy, it makes it much more difficult to explain it.”

After a year, the Facebook, email and phone tips have slowed down. Nothing ever substantially advanced the investigation, Johnson said.

Renee Jones, head trainer for Camp Gladiator and Missy’s friend, said her friends and family have endured a rollercoaster of emotions.

“You have sad moments,” she said. “You have angry moments. You have moments where you’re up here because you remember all the amazing things she did and said.”

A year later, police have sifted through about 1,400 tips. Johnson says there are still a few “lingering people of interest” who haven't been excluded. A full-time investigator remains assigned to the case.

No one has been publicly ruled as out as a suspect, not even her husband. Johnson says Bevers’ husband has been all but cleared and they no longer consider him a person of interest, much less a suspect.

He says they intend to keep the investigator assigned to the case as long as there are leads to follow. Midlothian police regularly meet with FBI agents who have been working on the case, too.

“Sometimes there’s a lot of work to be done on the case and sometimes there’s not a lot,” Johnson said. “It’s still very much active and open.”

Some believe the suspect had a feminine sway, walked with a possible injury to the right leg or foot. To this day, that person's identity remains a mystery, a fact that bothers Johnson.

"It's frustrating to say that, especially a year later. But even among our investigators, there's a split opinion," said Johnson. "Many think it's a man, many think it's a woman, some think she was targeted, some think it was random."

Police has not offered any theories into why Bevers was killed, and so far no tips in the case have paid off.

Bevers' family and friends were questioned in the case, they are not considered suspects.

"What we see, often times in cases like this, is we get that vital, that critical tip. that person who, not just has a hunch, that person who knows credible, factual information and for whatever reason hasn't come forward yet," said Johnson. "It's very difficult, for all of us here, to believe that this killer has kept that a secret."

Police communicate regularly with the family and continue to work as needed with the FBI, Johnson said.

"I think there's still a lot of concern in the community here," Johnson said. "Certainly nobody in our building has moved on or forgotten. I really do think the guys working on this case are as diligent now as they were then, and as passionate about finding justice for Missy."

In the first month, dozens of officers from Midlothian and outside agencies were working on the case. The first six weeks of the investigation alone cost more than $460,000 in payroll expenses, and the department spent thousands for just one forensics test, Johnson said.

Terri "Missy" Bevers Murder Investigation
Commander / EMC John Spann from Midlothian Police Department · 7m ago

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the homicide of Terri “Missy” Bevers. Missy was murdered in the early morning hours on April 16th, 2016 as she was preparing to lead an exercise class at the Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, TX. The Midlothian Police Department, jointly working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, remains actively investigating all leads in this case. As forensic and investigative technology has advanced significantly over the past several years, so has the ability for law enforcement to recover physical evidence related to violent crimes similar to Missy’s homicide.
Law enforcement officials, diligently working with professional outside resources as well, are determined to see this case reach imminent closure. We are relentlessly pursuing new leads that have been developed and are availing ourselves of a number of new, highly advanced investigative techniques. While we are reluctant to discuss all of our current investigative details and methods, there is no technology or resource that will not be fully exploited in order to identify the individual or individuals responsible for this senseless murder.
There has been much speculation about this case, as it has received nationwide attention. Please know that we will continue to judiciously protect the release of information about Missy’s murder so long as this case remains open. To do otherwise would be irresponsible and simply poor police work. Missy was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, and sister. She, her family, and our community deserve our best effort. Since the beginning, finding justice for Missy had been our number one priority. We will do that by following the evidence wherever it may lead us.
Often times, members of our community have information of some value but do not come forward with the information because of concerns that it may not be important or may be deemed as a waste of time. It is our sincere belief that this Missy’s killer will be caught through collaboration with the public. We believe that somebody who has not yet come forward may have that vital piece of information they have thus far withheld. We implore members of the public to please contact the Midlothian Police Department, regardless of how insignificant they may think their information is.
Anyone with information is asked to contact our established tip line at 972-775-7624. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by contacting Ellis County Crime Stoppers at 972-937-PAYS (7297).

Johnson said while it’s been difficult, the lead investigator on the case is still working and police check in with the family on a weekly basis. “It’s been frustrating for our detectives [and] been frustrating for me personally. It’s been frustrating to sit across the table from the family and not be able to provide more answers.”

While police have received thousands of tips from the public the one needed to identify the killer still hasn’t come in. Investigators are holding out hope that a vital witness or anyone with information will still come forward.

Ultimately Johnson believes an arrest will be made and the case will be solved, but he admits it has been difficult for police personally and professionally. “I’m confident that it will [be solved]. I just… if you would’ve told me that we’d be talking about this case and not having an arrest a year later, I would’ve thought you were out of your mind.”

The FBI and the Texas Rangers continue to work with Midlothian police on the investigation.

According to authorities, the lead detective assigned to the Bevers homicide is working solely on solving her murder. According to NBC, police are supposedly keeping tabs on a person of interest, but refuse to reveal much else about their investigation.

“Please know that we will continue to judiciously protect the release of information about Missy’s murder so long as this case remains open,” the statement reads. “To do otherwise would be irresponsible and simply poor police work.

Camp Gladiator Fitness Groups nationwide paused for a moment of silence to remember a North Texas trainer killed one year ago today.

At 5 a.m. Tuesday Camp Gladiator groups honored Bevers. A close friend said she thinks of her often.

“I’m going to be honest. I wake up one day frustrated. I wake up the next in tears. I wake up the next asking why. I wake up the next trying to be positive. Holy smokes, God, you did amazing things in this woman’s life,” Renee Jones said.

Midlothian police are asking for tips. They encourage people to report anything no matter how insignificant it may seem. It could be the break in the case.
