Dad is a pig and his sons are also but the president should stay above the fray and not get in the gutter with dad. he just can't help himself, can he?

I hope I’m not “sent on vacation” for this, but I can’t help but wonder if his kids speak this way.
I wonder if “he tried to SLIDE SOMETHING AWAY” is code for stealing where LaVar Ball comes from.

I am pretty sure that is what he was referring to when he said 'slide something away.'

He said it was a victimless crime, which is not true. Stealing is stealing, and the shopowners are the victims, as are the employees. And in this high profile case, so was UCLA. They took a big hit and many of their alumni donors are unhappy.

But even bigger than that, the Social Justice Movement took a big hit as well. Their dishonest actions just strengthened the ugly stereotypes that some have about young black males. And Daddy Ball is doing the same thing. Feeding into the stereotypical image of entitlement.

[emoji848] Is it too late to send them back? Maybe China has a conspiracy charge they hit dear old dad with.

October Ratings: CNN Remains a Top 10 Basic Cable Network

Context matters!
Compared to ***October 2016,*** which featured heavy news viewership through the final weeks of the dramatic 2016 election, all the networks saw reduced viewership in prime time, with CNN experiencing the biggest drop, down 52% among total viewers. Fox News was down 26% and MSNBC down 6%.

CNN's reputation and ratings have tanked. No surprise they are willing to put the Ball circus on. Can't shut his mouth.

Code? No. Euphemism? Sure.

"Where he's from:" LaVar Ball was born in Los Angeles, attended school in the San Fernando Valley, and played college sports for West LA College, Washington State and Cal State LA. Never officially played for the NBA. He's a showoff. He's fairly easily "provoked" into making flamboyant, reactionary statements to the press. Like I sorta said earlier, this is pretty much a public tit-for-tat between a colorful but otherwise unremarkable man and a semi-OK former athlete. Or vice versa. imho

:scared:

We were going over the signs of a narcissist in another thread and I immediately thought of the Ball ****s.

Ok I'll bite. The same AJ Katz who reported CNN was in the top 10 listed in your link also reported same time frame CNN was #12 behind Discovery Channel. See bottom of article basic cable ranker chart. If I miss spoke I'll own it but I doubt CNN viewer numbers. Jmo

On topic UCLA won their game today without the three player distraction.
Go Bruins!

I'm not seeing what you're seeing. The stories aren't comparing the same data, for starters. ;)

Look at the far right column rankings in the link you posted.

Scroll right option is not on my phone. ( not near laptop). Copied from my link reported by the same person at adweek you posted. They are not in the top ten. All these numbers can be manipulated. CNN is a dump with lower viewer numbers. I'll leave it at that. Moo

Donald Trump's comments today were spot on. Mr Ball is a ungrateful fool.

He sure is! I would be so thankful to have my kid back from China, I don't care who/how he made it back home. I would be very angry with him. Very disappointed in him! For me the anger and disappointment would last a very long time. I believe that Dad is doing wrong by his kid.

Mr. Ball might have valid points.

Experts say the players for the U.C.L.A. team, who were accused of stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store in Hangzhou, China, probably would have been released even if Mr. Trump had not raised the case with President Xi Jinping during a visit this month to Beijing.

Shoplifting is considered a relatively minor crime in China, and foreigners convicted of minor crimes are often deported rather than given prison sentences.

“It’s nonsense,” Fu Hualing, a law professor at the University of Hong Kong, said of Mr. Trump’s assertion that his intervention was solely responsible for the athletes’ release. “I would be surprised if they were even prosecuted.”

The three players are working out on their own while they await a final decision on whether they'll be allowed to play for the Bruins this season. Coach Steve Alford said that he doesn't think "we're talking about months" regarding a timetable to decide their fate. "It's really on the school," Alford said. "It's in that process now. When that process ends, I'm sure the administration will bring me in." The players are subject to review for violating the university's Student Conduct Code, which includes a section on theft.

Alford said he and his staff are communicating with the players via text messages and calls, mostly to see if they are attending classes.

The players are allowed to use athletic facilities, including the weight room, but aren't working directly with the coaching staff, Alford said. "We're letting them get their feet back on the ground," he said.

LaVar Ball pulls son LiAngelo Ball out of UCLA

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...67748/lavar-ball-pulls-son-liangelo-ball-ucla

LaVar Ball told ESPN that he has pulled his son LiAngelo out of UCLA.

"We are exploring other options with Gelo," LaVar Ball said. "He's out of there."

"I'm going to make him way better for the draft than UCLA ever could have," he said.

"He's not transferring to another school," he told ESPN. "The plan is now to get Gelo ready for the NBA draft."

Daddy Ball is so clueless. He takes his youngest son off the high school team, and he takes his middle son off the college team---and yet he thinks they are still going to be drafted by the NBA---with no team experience or practice.

And are they even getting an education now?

And his oldest son is not really doing all that great with the Lakers either. He was a college star and he was drafted on the strength of his college performance. But his rookie year has had a lot of ups and downs so far.

As part of their indefinite suspensions, the players haven't been allowed to suit up, practice or travel with the Bruins.

"They had him there just to use the Ball family name. They were going to keep the best shooter on the team coming off the bench? That's like telling the Clippers back in the day not to play JJ Redick," LaVar Ball said.

OHOH, he is messing with his youngest son's life too, imo:

LaVar Ball said that that the plan is still for LaMelo Ball - ESPN's seventh-ranked player in the class of 2019 -- to go to UCLA. LaMelo verbally committed to attend UCLA in two years. However, a source at UCLA told ESPN's Arash Markazi that this is probably the end for the Ball family at the school.

There are questions about whether LaMelo would even be eligible, because he has his own signature shoe as part of the family's Big Baller Brand. The NCAA was asked by ESPN about the matter and said, "Generally speaking, a college athlete or prospect paid for use of their athletics reputation or ability risks their future eligibility in that sport."

So the youngest son was pulled off high school team, and is being 'homeschooled.' But UCLA is washing their hands of the Ball family it seems.

So that poor kid is getting no other outside influences other than Daddy Ball.

He's even quoted saying the Lakers don't know how to coach the other son.

The other two players still should be dismissed.

There is an almost identical situation in the case of Michael Porter Jr at the University Of Missouri (minus the theft). Not that long ago a kid getting a free college education was a great deal. Nowadays it seems that parents are more interested in getting their kids into the BIGS of the NBA or NFL. Which to me is sad. The kids aren't getting a real education. So if and when the professional career doesn't work out or ends in injury, they don't have anything to fall back on.

Here's an article about what is happening now in the Porter Jr. case and how college recruitment rules apply plus how a parent can snatch their kid out of High School and fast track them to the professional teams.

Heck if a college really wants a top recruit, why not hire Dad as an Assistant Coach? Especially if they can get the younger brother Jontay at the same time?

Todays antics from UCLA and the Balls:

Everything changed in August when LaVar announced the Big Baller Brand was releasing a signature shoe for LaMelo in a series of tweets that clashed with the NCAA’s principles governing amateurism. One of the tweets featured a picture of the youngest Ball brother wearing a Big Baller Brand shirt and displaying his $395 shoes. LaMelo also starred in an ostentatious rap video intended to advertise the shoes.
That decision raised two obvious questions: Did LaVar still intend to have LaMelo play for a year at UCLA before attempting to turn pro? And if so, would LaMelo even still be eligible to play college basketball?
“I think [LaVar] just cost his son a chance to play college basketball,” a veteran compliance official who asked to remain anonymous told Yahoo Sports in August. “The receipt of money based on name/image/athletic skill and his father acting as a marketing agent would impact his amateur status and collegiate eligibility.”

This is really sad. How do you build a 'brand' around a 15 yr old that isnt even playing high school ball? Now the middle son isn't even playing ball, and neither are getting an education, if their teacher is their home schooler father.

Daddy Ball just ruined the chances of both his sons to get into the NBA. And he is messing with his older son too, by talking krap about the Lakers coaches etc.

I actually feel sorry for the boys now.
