Sounds like you are stereotyping. I love video games and I also love the real world and most of it's people. I also love fantasy (Lord of The Rings etc) and I know the difference between Mordor and Sainsbury's.

How am I stereotyping? I'm fully aware that there are plenty of very normal psychologically healthy people that like playing video games. I was just talking about the report that video games are linked to killers/psychopaths etc and saying I don't think the video games are to blame.

I think he is mental ill and compartmentalizes almost like a split personality where he can seperate himself from his actions and convince himself that he didn't do anything wrong because it wasn't 'him

I agree. Quote this from his mums interview with the sun having visited him whilst on remand whereby he had received news that he had passed his exams:

She said: “That’s when he was crying. He said to me, ‘I don’t know why this is happening to me, mum. I’m doing really well at school, all my friends, I’m in a relationship, I’m in a happy place at the moment. Why is this happening to me?’.”

Mum of Alesha MacPhail's brute murderer 'heart sunk' as her CCTV caught him

Like hes disassociated himself from the whole thing?

Dissociation is very common in mental health terms, more common if the person has been through some kind of trauma themselves.
That could explain a lot. It could explain his demeanour on the CCTV, at court and perhaps even the crime itself. And then add any other influences. IMO

You don't think there's any chance he's made up the fact that he has a girlfriend to his Mum? He could be a compulsive liar. Why would she say all the stuff about him crying saying life's really good, I've got a girlfriend etc? ...seems an odd thing to lie about.

He did say his mother was an alcoholic (not saying she actually is, I don't know) but maybe she isn't in a great frame of mind either, so that could be where some of these statements from here that are not exactly true are coming from.

Fair point. He is the one who has been convicted of lying not her.

Maybe but I don't see how his mum wouldn't know that he had a girlfriend? Did she never meet her? Also there was that photo of Aaron and his alleged girlfriend that the Daily Mail published.

Yeah I seen that. Like a Snapchat filtered photo eh. Appears they were together and now they’re not so maybe explains why she thought they still were. I’m sure AC spinned loads of lies throughout his life, seemed he was believed half the time aswell.

Might have broken up but he failed to tell his Mum. It sounds like he was becoming more and more isolated recently just staying in his room all night playing video games and then sleeping during the day. He may have pretended he was still seeing her to his Mum to seem more normal.

I'm trying not to stereotype and probably failing. I'm stuck between the type of video games, a young age, length of time watching them and a possible vulnerability in the watcher.

The only correlation I see is him taking A to the woods and Slenderman having similar stories. Will we ever know, I doubt it. The papers will sensationalise it and I may be completely wrong.

I didn't mean anything in it and that's why I said seemed. I agree but those types of psychological horror games may have some affect on an already disturbed mind.

Pretty much what David Wilson said. I was shocked at first when he said that but am starting to think is right. He usually is right about this type of thing.

Why to a lesser extent?,he has lost his baby too.
Because it has been established that he had been dealing drugs from the door of his father's flat, where he also lived. Alesha stayed at the flat every other weekend and during holiday times. If I were in that game I would never allow punters to come anywhere near my home or family for obvious reasons. A partial palm print of the prisoner had been located on part of a chair lift contraption thing (sorry, I can't recall the exact terminology) and he admitted that he had in the past dealt drugs to the prisoner at the door of the flat. The palm print could not be aged, according to the experts, but that is a moot point now. Of course, he has my sympathy, any person would if they were suffering as he quite obviously is. I could say more but I have no wish to be timed out. I am not victim bashing, not in the least, merely responding to your pertinent question, which I regard as being valid.

............
I thought at first too that their might have been a link to Slenderman but as you say it's probably sensationalism. Looking at the route he took on that night; going along the shore and up to the High Rd , it seemed it was a secluded spot he was heading too and that was the obvious place. Although it was not the main road, he still took chance passing a few houses on the way. Interestingly, the house opposite the steps looks like it's been empty for a few years.
