LOL. Now it makes sense.

That comment has been added on by a mod who started the new thread.

I thought I was going crazy, someone PM'd me saying they'd found thread 4 and I didn't have a clue what they were talking about it. I thought I must have been sleep-posting or something. I was going through my posts trying to find what they were referring to.

Haha yeah I thought that after I posted. I think @Harmony 2 updated it.

There’s gna be so many books and documentaries about this case isn’t there? I think rab might even make a book considering he knew Aaron before the murder , maybe AC mum will too, I’m sure book publishers will be offering them all kinds of money to write a book

'Oddball' jailed for barmaid murder
I know this is a totally different case and a much older man but I've been remembering this case whilst hearing of AC's arrogance and attitude. Both horrid little men!
For some strange reason I keep being reminded of that guy who drove his car into a crowd outside Finsbury Park mosque, killing a man. Its a completely different type of crime, and again a much older person, but the same arrogant attitude - his defence was that the car was driven by a man named Dave, surname unknown! Then when he was convicted he said he didn't mean to kill a muslim really, he went there to kill Jeremy Corbyn!

Same arrogant, smirking attitude as here, maybe arrogance is a defining characteristic of a murderer.

Maybe, it's strange how the mind draws parallels! This one happened so close to where I live so got caught up in it. Can't imagine what it must be like to live on Bute, such a small place to have something like this happen. Most people must've known each other...

Would his mates or those close to him notice he was “different” tho ? Like did any of ted bundys or Brady’s mates ever suspect he was odd or weird does anyone know ? I know they can adapt and blend in to society but you just feel you’d get a gut instinct about them don’t u? I’d like to think I was a good judge of character and get an uneasy feeling if I was in the presence of one

Years ago, I read the book by Ann Rule. Even being a writer and presumably used to studying people as part of her work, she had absolutely no idea that Ted, the man she worked with at the Samaritans call centre was anything other than a lovely person.

I can definately see a book or two being written.

He wouldn't have gone into detail about his sick fantasies but it was that conversion he had that night with his friend and how he said that he felt suicidal that makes me think that he did confide something about his mental state or maybe at some other point. This is not in any way to put responsibility on to anyone other than himself.

Does a psychopath know that they're a psychopath?

I honestly don't believe he was suicidal etc at all,I think it was just to make his friend feel sorry for him after he had been arguing with his mum,to keep himself the centre of attention after his friends had gone off with his sister, but that's just MO

I would think eventually most psychopaths would have an idea of themselves because of how they have to adapt to blend in,but at 16 im not sure anyone is that self aware

Not a psychopath, but a man I worked with for years, who taught children everyday, who held my youngest 2 babies and cooed, who shared anecdotes about hiding his chocolate in the wardrobe because he didn't want his husband to know he was cheating on his diet, inane things that we joked about everyday and a man we all considered a friend and a lovely man disappeared from work one day and we didnt hear anything for months...until we found out that he had been arrested after he had been caught watching live streams of babies and young children being raped, and had been an active member of a chat room for paedophiles for 5 years, sometimes you just don't suspect a thing:(

jesus! thats awful. how awful is it to know you never truly know someone and whats going on behind closed doors? very depressing

Haven’t posted on here for a bit but have been following. I’m afraid I was one of the folk on here who wanted all the conspiracy theories to be true. As a mother of a 16 year old boy I just couldn’t believe that a lad so normal in appearance could be capable of such a vile act. His defence story was so fantastical yet I found myself believing it. I work in mental health and my boss once said I was like a sniffer dog trained to spot psychopaths from a mile off yet I never once suspected this one. I’m so glad I wasn’t in the jury. Thanks to everyone on here for some great posts and to TaylorCallum for what you put yourself through to give us some great info. In another case a body has been found in the search for missing 16 yr old Liam Smith, a boy described as a beautiful gentle lad. How tragic that this lovely soul has left this earth and ac gets to stay. RIP Alesha and Liam

In defence of you ... you (I'm assuming) never met Aaron Campbell in real life?

Much of what our 'gut instinct' tells us is gleaned from SO much more than merely reading words typed on a page.

Even watching video of someone is a poor substitute for our brains to read all it needs to, to make a sound judgement.

And ... I think we all wanted it not to be true even if we were 100% sure it was.

I put my hands up and say that I doubted it too. I don't follow that many cases nor watch many crime dramas despite a Netflix account, but I've never came across a case like this and I still think that there's more to it.
I don't know what - but I don't think we've had all the full facts. IMO

We definitely haven't had the full facts. There's a lot more to his history, I think. A lot of rumours, which must have some truth in them. The island itself has many dark secrets.

Even if you put the rumours aside; I haven't delved too deeply ( don't know if I want too) on even what's readily available on google re previous criminal activity on the island.

“Next witness is forensic scientist Sarah Jones. She has been in this profession for 22 years

Witness specialises in fibres and clothing. She examined Alesha’s vest. Also looked at the jogging bottoms and hooded top found on beach

Defence asking witness about fibres from the black Nike top which were NOT found on Alesha’s clothing. Witness agrees she would expect to see Nike top fibres on Alesha’s vest if she was being carried

Under cross examination witness agrees black Nike top has “no connection” to Alesha’s garments. Zero traces”

What's your opinion on this?

This is strange if he gave her it to wear, isn't it? You would think that would definitely leave fibres. But why would he make that up? Just to cause more hurt? Weird.
