I wonder why the TW e-fit also showed a man with dark hair, bush eyebrows and a moustache. They must have had an e-fit of the wrong person which may account for why it took so long to convict Fuller.

Was it not the briefest of observations through the slats of a Venetian blind of a male in the dark outside looking in?

R v Turnbull, relating to the key points to be addressed regarding identification in an eye witness statement would most likely make it very unreliable.

It would seem the management, staffing, security and procedures in hospital mortuaries need a fundamental and overarching overhaul with oversight by the Human Tissue Authority and NHS England.

This report from August 2021:

Wrong bodies released by NHS mortuaries dozens of times
I expect Fuller took trophies from the victims as well like locks of hair as he took the set of keys from one of his murder victms. I expect that there is a lot more to come out about all of this.

Ugh, no words really. I saw mention of his mortuary "activities" preiously in the trial, but awful as that was, it's kinda natural to expect low single figures of assaults, not this. Horrible. I hope this is a wakeup call and security is tightened up substantially so this can never happen again - I'm surprised it wasn't already after Jimmy Savile, but perhaps that side of Savile's crimes was never proven, only rumoured... it still should've led to improvements though, given how high profile it was.

Still leaves me wondering what Fuller's been doing between 1987 and 2008, I think the police have a fair bit of work to do to find that out, as I strongly doubt he sat around doing nothing wrong in that time. At least now he can't do any more harm to anyone: even if he doesn't get whole life, at his age whatever he does get will be effectively that, and good riddance.

The e-fit was of a bloke who knocked on the door of a resident who lived on the same road as Wendy Knell. It happened a few days before Wendy's murder. He warned the resident, a young lady, that she shouldn't leave her windows open...something like that.

There's an excellent account of the whole sad story here and was written before they arrested Fuller.

TUNBRIDGE WELLS BEDSIT MURDERS

Still leaves me wondering what Fuller's been doing between 1987 and 2008,

He was certainly a "dumb" murderer, that's for sure. Very careless in leaving DNA all over the place with regards to Wendy Knell. He may have been more careful with Caroline Pierce because I suspect he would have known that Colin Pitchfork had, at that time, recently been busted based on DNA evidence. So with regards to Caroline, he dumped her near naked in dyke and where he probably assumed that nature and time would erase all the evidence. However, looking at the court case reports, he left DNA all over the scene of Wendy's murder including a shoe print and finger print.

Interesting, according to that article, Fuller was sacked by Mitie (Facilities Management contractor at the hospital) just days before his arrest.

Also, he had a DBS background check in 2015 which revealed his previous convictions. I assume those convictions from the 70s.

EDIT: the article states he admitted the mortuary offices in Oct 2021. The police interview CCTV footage on the Daily Mail site shows that he admitted those offences on 26/01/2021, much earlier than Oct 2021. However, I'm sure he admitted "responsibility" for the 2 murders during Oct 2021.

I do hope Kent Police are finally reviewing the murder of Jean Brook at Bedgebury Forest in 1982 (a popular haunt for cyclists) near Tunbridge Wells. She also worked in Camden Road (as with Wendy & Caroline) and lived not far from St Leonard’s where Fuller had a property. She too was battered about the head.

It does look like he was not long in the Tunbridge Wells area during 1982, there is a mention in the court report that he married "Sally" during 1982 and had the blessing at Speldhurst Church TW, which is not far from Broomhill School where his wife worked and where they both lived. Seems to be a lot of similarities to other notorious murderers/sickos. Fuller lived in a school property, like Ian Huntley. He was a keen cyclist, like Jimmy Savile.

He resided in the Portsmouth area before meeting Sally in Tonbridge and there is a mention (in court reports) of him staying with a friend whilst he did jobs in Tonbridge. From the digging I did some months ago on Fuller (he had his own account on Ancestry), "Sally" passed away approx 6 years ago, however, they divorced late 90s - that last part I gleaned from the recent media.

I suspect he left Portsmouth back in the late 70s due to the burglary convictions AND the other 20+ offences which he asked to be taken into consideration. I know there's a gap between 1987 and 2008-ish, but I would say there's a gap between the late 70s and the first half of 1987.

He does seem like someone who likes to be in control and I suspect yesterday's sudden guilty plea was his desire to show that he was in charge of the court proceedings. However, judging by his past (him asking for other offences to be taken into account back in the 70s) he may repeat the same thing again this time around. He may just ask for other offences to be taken in consideration in return for being put in a "secure" prison where he'll want to be kept apart from other prisoners. We may find out a lot more.

I don’t even want to think about it but what of those who have lost female family members that would have been kept in the morgue at Tunbridge Wells Hospital (and the former Kent & Sussex Hospital). The Bedsit murders were horrific enough but this latest information is even more disturbing.
Its horific !! Do we know when he left the hospital? My dear Mum died there in 2017 this has really upset me!!

Lone working, lack of peer-to-peer mentoring, poor supervision, opaque working practices and poor oversight is a wider issue within the NHS, which enables the rogue elements to pursue their activities with relative ease. The culture is one of bullying, mis-trust, blame and cover-up.

Sounds much like the police force.

More on the Jean Brook murder in 1982. This case seems to have been long forgotten and is never mentioned either by the Police or media. Jean Brook deserves justice. I’ve no doubt it was a local man who committed the crime (and that of the other Bedgebury Forest murder in 1979)
This is all local to me. I thought that someone had been charged for Jean Brooks murder ? Unless he was found not guilty? I may be wrong of course but thought it had been a lorry driver?
