@Vixey PH has done for a while. As mentioned in an earlier post (see previous page/link and Yozzer's link above ), it has been transformed in the last 15 years or so. It was always considered very rough (still is to some extent IMO)
Funny how he had the same pile of bricks stacked up in the carpark near the main entrance for 7 years. What an eyesore. Anyone would think he was trying to hide something ;)

im not particularly stuck on the policeman theory....I thought either the landlord or a customer of the ac mentioned it and I couldn't see what could be gained by lying about it

  • however, I've since thought that it could have been put about by some other party to throw interest onto the ac, so that it could be thought shed been unintentionally in danger of talking about funny goings. on in the ac.
could have been a simple mistake or misunderstanding of course

I’m not embarrassed okay I’ll ask lol :what is meant by “.... to purchase a pack of “chalky “ ?

When NYP arrested PH, they also digged up the pub cellar. So, either they'd received what they thought was a genuine tip off or they knew CL's body wouldn't be in the pub, but they thought they might find something else incriminating stashed somewhere (eg drugs), so searching the cellar for CL's remains was just an excuse. I'd be interested in your views on that, sleuths.

The idea that CL might have been taken to the Ac area is because of NYP emphasising its relevance and the fact that, if she was abducted that evening in the black SUV (maybe lured into it by someone she trusted), the perps would have got out of Heworth asap and taken her to a less suspect part of town to do whatever they did to her. I stress that this is all hypothetical and only informed by tenuous indications, or I would have contacted the cold case team by now. I am sure that they will have considered this sort of scenario and speculations per se are no use to them at this stage.
Perhaos they were looking for the real owner of the Pub

He is the landlord PH, but not the owner ?

Hello ACB Murder,

So if you believe Claudia was taken to Acomb initially then she must have been separated from her phone, which stayed within the nine mile radius that included her house, the university, and extended out as far as Tockwith, also that more than one person was involved?

Why Acomb and why without her phone? Do you think the sightings on her regular route to work were staged or that it was her and her phone was passed to someone during whatever altercation took place, after which as you believe she was transported without it to Acomb?

Have you heard your own local rumours in Acomb? I recently was told something about people who may know what happened but weren't involved, which I passed onto the Find Claudia email address.

If she left her house willingly in the black SUV that night, maybe persuaded to spend the night at someone's house on the other side of town for a quick drink and a spliff or to surprise someone on their birthday, with the promise that she'd be given a lift to work the next morning, then she would have taken her rucksack with essential items in it, including her phone (although you'd think she would have taken her purse at least). Maybe the perps went back to the backpack next morning/lunchtime, or the phone had slipped out in the SUV and they couldn't find it initially... All speculations on my part, btw.

It seems really strange that NYP have been unable to narrow down where the phone was switch off. An 8 mile radius is huge and why was Tockwith mentioned? There are many other villages and suburbs in that 8 mile radius. Perhaps NYP know more about where the phone was but they aren't saying.

I've not heard interesting rumours in Ac yet because I've only just started taking an interest. It might be easier finding bits out after the lockdown. If I don't meet a wall of silence, that is.

One rumour that's been going round York for years though, is that gypsies were involved. But to date I have found no corroboration to this. If any of you have, I'd be interested to know. I became aware of it a while back, before I took a real interest in the case, from my local hairdresser who however lives in Heworth, and from an accountant, who is a friend of my partner and has a number of builder/tradesmen clients, many of whom were questioned at the time. To be precise he said that all builders in York were questioned and asked if they'd had an affair with CL, but that's probably a slight exaggeration IMO.

Interesting! So what they say at the beginning of this article, about PH owning the pub outright is a mistake Fortunes change at landmark pub or were you referring to the NH @MajorLang ?

Although I gree it might not have covered all the extra expenditure I think people use the skills they have and as she was a chef its likely she worked on a cash in hand basis catering for people ie celebration cakes and pubs who may have to have cover for short periods when staff went sick or on hol fitting it in with her day job. Im not saying all the trips she made to the acomb area were this but some may have been.
Working in these enviroments she may well have been offered part payment in drinks which might have been attractive perk for her so if she drove their to work there obviously she wouldnt drink and drive home. So subsequent trips to socialise and drink may have been made by taxi. Ineviatably she would get to know the regulars and a single attractive woman always receives interest so its likely she found new scene and new people a refreshing change .
I know we see a pattern similar to that when she started going to the NH but I dont think it was intentional on CL's part its just what normally happens when someone new arrives on the scene

You might be right about the alternative source of earnings @keep-it-real But then, it would probably have become known that she did other catering jobs to supplement her income (not the cash-in-hand bit of course). Anyway, it can't have been a regular source of income, given that she had a physical and tiring, full-time job, as well as an active social life and various holidays/weekends away. Far from me to judge her in any way shape or form, if indeed she was caught in doggy dealings. She's a victim full stop. It's the perps that have been getting away with murder for too long.

I still think you are a new software (A I) being tested out by the police but you’re still welcome !
Can you tell us what is your favourite theory ?

no I'm not pope......honest...why do you. think that
my typings a bit weird because I've got the tremors
I suppose my favourite theory is that she. was killed to stop her talking about the drugs scene.
it just seems to me that people. could be frightened by big dealers into doing something or keeping quiet

I did notice them but because Claudia went missing in 2009 and the bricks were there in 2008 I dismissed it
Perhaps they were the bricks from the cellar that was then filled in with concrete
