Thing is though cj is that the bold you highlight could be true but because of the nature of DA-Notices it is just a guess by the family. Nothing of what the family have now said on record about Suffolk Police should be restricted so I expect that to be reported?

I guess that would always come down to a judgement call by the editor.

I agree that it is likely a guess by the family, but it'll be a very educated guess given Uncle Tony's military intelligence background. Or maybe it's been a discreet tip-off from an old contact? Who knows! I can't think why they'd mention it if they didn't believe it to be true because, like you said, it isn't something that directly affects the competence of the investigating police.

While I remember I just thought of another possible case that could have a DA-Notice attached. The McCann case. I remember early in that case especially (first year) There were numerous quotes from UK government/embassy staff that quoted "national security" as a reason they couldn't speak about the case. Also I remember the McCanns on their return home were escorted by "security services".

Interesting - I hadn't heard that!

"I guess that would always come down to a judgement call by the editor".

I suppose so (I giggled there, sorry)

You have to read the bold bit only !

I'm more confused than ever about a possible DA-Notice though, James.

The family have clearly called out Suffolk Police for being incompetent but that has nothing to do with any DA-Notice being issued. So who has info/intelligence that something involving national security is at play in this case?

Whilst I totally understand the family's frustration I can't help but think they have dome themselves no favours by being so publically critical of the police. They are a collection of individuals who are only human and aren't going to be inclined IMO to now commit resources to what has unfortunately become a dead end. I suspect there will be some unhappy people in the Suffolk Constabulary this evening

...and so here's (potentially) the missing piece of the jigsaw.
It's been stated that Corrie is one for the ladies which scoffs at my proposition of the gay/bi scenario. Delete the 'perp' having deviant tendencies and insert new 'perp' as being a scolded male lover. Could it be that the new 'perp' is a rather annoyed husband or boyfriend that read the message sent earlier on in the evening by Corrie to a female unbeknown to her? Could he have secretly grabbed her phone so as to create the impression that his female partner has misplaced it and then acted on her behalf replying to his texts to confirm their illegal liaison and how drunk he is at the bin area or market stall area? Corrie is intercepted near the bins or in the couples car with a ruse to take him to her and is driven via the Barton Mills area?
Hmmm...an affair with the wife/girlfriend of another airman at another base?

BBM - where has this information come from, how do you know he sent a message to a female earlier in the evening?

Heh ?

I think the Police Liaison Officer and the Former Counter Revolutionary Officer have made a good response ?

Note "Counter Revolutionary" is just how it's termed. It means "anti terrorism".

So effectively a rough equivalent to a 'gagging order'?

Normally I would completely agree, suzy but within the context of Corrie now being missing with no clue for 5+ weeks and Nicola being a Police officer herself it must be being done as an absolute last resort?

I think Suffolk Police will now have to respond very, very soon to the families obvious grievances.

I would like to see all the CCTV put online and crowd source the analysis. Not possible of course

I dont, it just fits with the newly presented offerings about Corrie being popular with the ladies. It was stated that he made several calls earlier in the evening (including one quite lengthy to his brother?).

Yep.

And the funny bit is, it doesn't come under any Law.

So "how can you enforce it" ?

.... I do not wish to "spoon feed" here, but there is no intention of making it Law.
It's a "massive" threat.

I'm not saying it's not a good response, I understand that they feel it's a last resort BUT imho only beng so openly critical is not the best strategy, flies, honey, vinegar .....

I'm looking forward to seeing what the police resonse will be, my guess is we won't hear anything from them tonight

Thanks. I thought I might have missed something that could be a good lead to making progress. The phone records I hope will have been very carefully checked and followed up, you've go to hope that a basic first step in any investigation.

Any further information being made public would certainly help, I know there's a lot of repetition in the facebook group but there were lots of people studying and analysing the previous 2 bits of footage

Hearing from the police tonight ? Are you kidding me.

You won't hear from them at all. They can't publish anything, there is a D Notice on this.
They are allowed to publish "updates on a current enquiry". That's it.

Blimey. I also feel like this must've been a last resort measure for the family - their pain and frustration is palpable 😢

That poor family, no wonder some of the reports have been confusing and contradictory!

Shall we do a little Quick Poll?!

QUICK POLL

Corrie has had an incident/accidental/health emergency on his way home, no third party involvement, he will (like many drunk young people who vanish on a night out) be found in a lake, river, hedge, shed, woods, abandoned building etc

QUICK POLL

Corrie was accidentally hurt (hit by car, knocked out in a fight) by a third party and it is being covered up by at least one person

No, not kidding you, replying to another poster who suggested we'd be hearing from them very soon.

With respect I don't think any of us know whether the DA notice exists and a lack of response from the police won't prove its existence either, we can only speculate
