Police in West Berkshire have discovered the car of a man who has been missing from his Kent home since Tuesday (April 20).

Thames Valley Police appealed earlier on Wednesday for the public’s help to trace missing Doug Carroll.

In a statement, Thames Valley Police said this evening: "Ongoing investigations have located Mr Carroll’s vehicle near the Ridgeway at Compton in West Berkshire."

They are still seeking Doug and they say that they want to "make sure he is well".

He is believed to have last been seen wearing dark jogging trousers or shorts and a hooded jumper.

Investigating officer Sergeant Stuart McMaster, based at Abingdon police station, said: “Mr Carroll was originally reported missing from the Tunbridge Wells area of Kent, but his car has been located in West Berkshire.

“We are extremely concerned for his welfare and want to make sure that he is well.

“I am urging anybody who believes that they have seen Mr Carroll to call the police immediately on 999, quoting reference number 43210168920.”

Thames Valley Police is releasing a new appeal and photos to the public to help trace a missing man in West Berkshire.

We would appeal to anyone in Aldworth, Compton, Streatley and Goring in South Oxfordshire to be vigilant and keep a look out for Doug Carroll.

Doug’s vehicle was located on the Ridgeway, close to Starveall, near Aldworth and Compton.

Thames Valley Police now has new information as to what Doug was wearing when he was last seen. He was wearing a black hooded top, a black t-shirt, black Ellesse jogging bottoms and black Vans trainers. He was carrying a black Poker Stars rucksack.

It is also believed he may have a black Adidas baseball cap and black sunglasses.

Residents in Buckinghamshire are being urged to keep a look out for a man who has been missing for almost a week.

Originally Berkshire residents were urged to keep a look out for him, but now TVP have updated their appeal by asking Bucks residents to do the same.

In a tweet yesterday (Saturday, April 24), TVP said: "New information in investigation to find Doug Carroll.

"Appeal to anyone in Henley, Marlow and Wycombe to keep a lookout for Doug.

"We believe it also possible that Doug may have travelled to Aldworth, Compton, Streatley and Goring."

Residents in Oxfordshire have also been asked to get in touch with the police if they see Doug.

Still no news.

This is a big guy, so hardly unnoticeable. I do hope this is not going to be another Richard Okorogheye...

Poignant message online saying how his family are in "absolute turmoil". Trouble is, if he has come to harm somewhere off that Ridgeway footpath, at 87 miles long you are going to need resources that the police don't have to scour every foot along the way.

Partner of missing Tunbridge Wells man Doug Carroll who has been missing for more than 2 weeks appeals for information

Concern continues to grow for the welfare of a man who has now been missing for more than two weeks.

Doug Carroll, who is from Tunbridge Wells, was last seen on April 20 on the day he was due to start a new job.

However the 29-year-old did not go to work, but returned home. Later his partner Emma Tapp came back to find he was gone.

It was believed Doug may have travelled to Berkshire, and Thames Valley Police later found his grey Peugeot 207 on The Ridgeway near the villages of Aldworth and Compton.

Despite renewing their appeals for information, Mr Carroll remains missing and police say they "remain very concerned for his welfare".

His partner Emma says she has been left "lost and confused" by his disappearance.

"He had gone off for a new job that morning," she said. "That was not going to work out, and he came home. When I got home he was just gone.

"I just knew something was wrong."

Ms Tapp explained how Mr Carroll, who had been out of work for a number of months, had struggled with his mental health in the past but said he had made a lot of progress dealing with it.

"It's just such a shock," the 30-year-old said. "We don't know what's going through his head.

"We thought that he was around here, but he had made it to Compton where his car was found. Since then we have heard nothing.

"It's such a huge area. He was born there but only spent a couple of years there. There's no friends or family.

"We just want to know he is safe. We just want to know he is OK. We would love him home, but it's just knowing he's OK, he can contact anyone."

One month on from the disappearance of Kent man Doug Carroll, officers from Thames Valley Police are today (20/5) releasing new images in a renewed appeal for help in tracing him.

The last confirmed sighting of Doug was in Kent and it is known that he then travelled to the Reading area, subsequently officers located his vehicle near the Ridgeway at Compton in West Berkshire on 21 April.

Doug is described as around 6ft 3ins tall, of slim build with brown hair and brown eyes.

He was wearing a black hooded top, a black t-shirt, black Ellesse jogging bottoms and black Vans trainers and was carrying with him a black Poker Stars rucksack.

It is also believed he may have black sunglasses with him.

He was first reported missing in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, on Tuesday 20 April and travelled to Berkshire.

Detective Inspector Roger Lamboll, based at Abingdon police station, said: “Doug’s disappearance is very out of character, and it has now been a month since we have had any confirmed sightings of him.

“Today, we are releasing two new photographs of Doug and are again appealing for the public’s help in tracing him. His family and friends are naturally extremely concerned for his welfare.

“We think when Doug left his vehicle on The Ridgeway, there was a possible sighting of him leaving on foot in the general direction of Aldworth, but there have been no confirmed sightings of him.

“I am urging anybody who was in the area of the Ridgeway around 21 April and believes that they saw Doug to please make contact with police.

“If you have any CCTV footage from the area at the time of Doug’s disappearance, please check this and if it has captured anything that may be Doug, please do get in touch with police.

“We are trying to piece together Doug’s movements after reaching The Ridgeway, but despite best efforts to locate him, or find out where he may have gone, we have been unable to do so.

“I would like to make a direct appeal to Doug, if he sees this message. You are not in any trouble whatsoever, but we want to know you are safe.

“Please contact either the police or your family to let us know where you are and that you are safe.”

Anybody who knows of Doug’s whereabouts or believe that they have seen him should call 999, or call 101 with any other information that may help to locate him, quoting reference number 43210168920.
