Divers, technology and drones used to scour river bed

A specialist drone has been deployed into the murky water of the river today to boost search efforts.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service yesterday expanded the water search capabilities by calling on colleagues from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service to assist with a specialist underwater drone.
The drone has been used today to help with the search, meaning the water is being scoured by technology, divers and drones.

What does someone look like going to commit suicide? I think we're projecting how we'd imagine ourselves to look. This is from an NHS doc on seeing the signs:

"Sudden sense of calm – A sudden sense of calm and happiness after being extremely depressed can mean that the person has made a decision to attempt suicide."
I am aware of that, but why not finish work at the normal time and then go to the river, if she planned to go after 4 anyway? Why rush around, nearly getting knocked over earlier on? I'm sure things will be clearer once they find her but at the moment it just seems odd imo

The video shows the 55-year-old walking along St Augustine's Street in Norwich last Friday just after 4pm and is the last sighting of her on film before she went missing.
In this 'last picture' she is looking up at a 'Custom T-Shirt Printing' shop, which has a very visible camera above the entrance.

I wouldn't read too much into her not wearing a coat, she was rushing so likely warm. I regularly go outside without a coat....people always gasp and ask me where it is :D
It was about 10C in Norwich that day and around that time. It dropped a bit after about 4pm down to 7C. Bedford street and London Street are also quite steep hills so if you are walking at pace uphill then continue walking at pace for 5 or so minutes in a big puffy jacket and scarf it's going to feel warm.

Some people also run hot. I have taken my coat off every day this week and that day on the 8th, too!

judging by the manhole covers seen in the CCTV, I think she stopped to look up at this shop - Custom T-Shirt Printing.

Spooky - I've just been doing the same matching-up of manhole covers on Google Maps at exactly the same time you were. You're exactly right.

The striking thing is that this is not a the kind of shop window you would typically browse in as you were wandering past, because the lower parts of those windows are blocked off with blinds. So something caught her eye.

Indeed, if you look closely, it's almost as if she is seeing at something that isn't actually there, i.e. hallucinating perhaps?

Or maybe someone was just peering out through the blinds?

Two things are sure Gaynor didn’t want to be at work or go home…imo
You are so right!! On the point!
But WHY had it been like that? Did she find everything pointless? Looking into a store window with printed t-shirts or similar (as assumed) - would I have interest in that banal stuff, if my mood was so very bad and I was depressed? Or did I think about other things, even didn't think at all, while looking for relatively long time into that window?

'Every effort continues to find Gaynor'

Ch Supt Buckley added how "every effort" is being made to track down Gaynor.
He said they were conducting "thorough and systematic searches of the area". He added: "This resulted in further items belonging to Gaynor being found over the weekend, her mobile phone, coat, ring, and glasses.
“We’ve received 15 calls so far in response to our appeal yesterday and we’re grateful for the public’s help. While this information is still being assessed, currently there is nothing of significance that changes our approach.
“This remains a missing person investigation and every effort continues to find Gaynor, including tracing her final movements in the city centre.”

Maybe in the hope that less clothes would mean hypothermia setting in quicker than necessarily drowning? I’m not sure how drowning works personally (it’s not something I choose to put much thought into as I’m scared of rivers/the sea etc)
I think cold water shock would get you going in the water with very little clothes on in this weather.

Maybe finally settling on a course of action during the day. Rushes to a place of worship to contemplate, maybe make her peace. Walks calmly to the park. One hypothesis that fits the known facts.

Alternatively, could have had a message to meet someone at the cathedral. Got some disappointing news. Who knows.

Looking for an address she is looking above maybe a flat of someone she knows perhaps she waiting for them to get home goes to the park to wait looks like Gaynor is killing time..imo

Everyone keeps bringing up her nearly getting knocked over. If you don't use the traffic lights and pay attention at that crossing it is easy to have near misses. Honestly, hundreds of people a day ignore the lights and take a chance at that crossing, myself included, and i've had a few near misses just crossing there when not in a hurry. It's an extremely busy part of the city, the cathedral, restaurants, bars, shops, bus stops, people heading to the train station. The clubbing district is just up that road and round the corner. If you are in a bit of a rush those lights are a pain in the backside to wait at.

All of her behavior is totally normal until she gets to the river. Until then she is a normal person going about her business exactly like the hundreds of people almost getting hit at that junction, or popping into the cathedral on their way somewhere. Hell, she might have gone in there, walked around, had a cigarette, stopped at the bin and left.

Maybe, if suicidal, she was waiting for nightfall to reduce the possibility she'd be rescued when she went into the water.

MOO

Is it possible the shop had Christmas decorations/lights which caught her eye?

The thing is, if Gaynor had met with someone at the cathedral (or elsewhere), then why haven't they contacted the police to confirm this meeting?
