This reminds me a little of this case. Found 5 weeks later in a field. It is always surprising that searches find nothing, yet so often are found not more than a mile or two from home.

I think it will be the same with Janet too. :(

At this stage, I'm not at all hopeful she'll be found alive.....but hope I'm wrong.

It’s now three weeks since 66-year-old Janet Edwards went missing from Hereford. Since then, the police, her friends and family have been involved in extensive searches to try and trace her.

From West Mercia Police:

Janet, who is age 66, is a healthy lady and a keen runner whose disappearance is completely out of character.

She is a well-known and well-liked member of the Herefordshire Community having served for our NHS.

Janet was last seen in the area of Beechwood Court, Hereford at 3pm on Friday 10 December 2021. CCTV images of her on the day she went missing show her wearing a green Raab jacket, blue jeans and casual brown boots with a white trim and sole.

Also, we ask that anyone who was driving in the area of Beechwood Court, Venns Lane, College Road, Aylestone Hill, Folly Lane, or Bodenham Road between 3pm and 7pm on 10 December who has dash-cam footage, to please review it to see if they can see Janet and if so to contact officers.

Similarly, we ask anyone with CCTV/or a doorbell camera in the above areas who has not yet received a visit from the police to review the footage from that day and time bearing in mind the description of Janet; and if they see someone fitting her description then to contact the police.

Any ideas why? Has a body been found or something but not ID'd?

21 hours ago · Missing people. 13:04 04/01/2022. Breaking News Post. Janet Edwards from Tillington in Herefordshire was last seen one month ago today.

I checked the Google cache of that page and it wasn't more than the headline. There was no proper article with it at the time of caching. Maybe it's something that's in development?

In a statement to West Mercia Police, the family said: "We dearly miss Jan. Christmas without her was painfully sad.

"We are infinitely grateful for the support of Jan's friends, and the community, the volunteers, and the emergency services. Everyone involved has worked tirelessly to look for Jan.

"Very sadly, we are no closer to finding her. We would be so very grateful if everyone seeing this would continue to look out for anything, however small, that might aid the search efforts. We thank everyone sincerely for their support."

Janet was last seen in the area of Beechwood Court, Hereford at 3pm on Friday 10 December 2021.

CCTV images of her on the day she went missing show her wearing a green Raab jacket, blue jeans and casual brown boots with a white trim and sole.

The 66-year-old is a well-known and well-liked member of the Herefordshire Community and served with the NHS. She is also healthy and a keen runner.

"The social media engagement has been brilliant and I’d like to thank the communities of Herefordshire who’ve been sharing our appeals and ask that they continue to do so.

"Janet’s disappearance is completely out of character and we are extremely concerned. We’re continuing to work with and support the family at this very difficult time with specialist officers.”

This is weird and frightening. Though we know so little about her, she seems so low risk for essentially running away, she doesn’t appear to have been in the right location for a tragic accident and she’s very low risk for a stranger attack.

A stranger attack appears to have to have involved grabbing her off the streets, transporting her to another location, where she is either being held, or where she was killed and her body left/buried there, or possibly her body taken to another location and been left/buried. But kidnapping a fit adult woman in broad daylight wouldn’t be easy for a stranger to achieve.

More likely (as in every case) is that someone she knew (and presumably trusted) convinced her to get into their car, maybe for a ‘chat’ and something planned or unplanned happened, resulting in her death.

If it was a stranger attack, she could be anywhere, but if it was someone known to her, she’s likely to be in the locality, possibly at a place that means a lot to her, her killer, or both of them.

The police are being so low key about this and are providing so little information, I wonder if they suspect a person known to her is involved. If they thought this was a stranger attack, I’d expect them to be more vocal. Whatever has happened, I hope she’s still ok.

It looks like a fairly busy road. The police have given a timescale between 3-7pm. She was last seen at 3pm. What could she have been doing in that area until for four hours?

They haven't mentioned Beechwood Court this time, they are saying last seen in Venns Lane. Also I presume that this was a witness sighting as there has been no mention of any CCTV footage of Janet that afternoon.

I still don't know why the police had a 7pm cut-off time for any footage on that Friday evening, they must have information that they haven't shared with the public yet on why they decided on that specific time, otherwise why not just ask for any footage from all of Friday evening and the following weekend as well?
