They made it personal, because it was personal, those friends of Janet Edwards taking time off work to hand out flyers... put up posters... hold conversations...

Whatever it took to help find their "bubbly, outgoing" friend of whom their has been no trace, no word for a week.

The biggest search yet for the missing 66-year-old former nurse at Kingstone surgery began yesterday (Dec 17) and went on into the evening as volunteers swelled the effort of specialist police in scouring Hereford's Aylestone Hill/Venns Lane where she is last thought to have been seen.

By the end, there was nothing, and the worry... the concern... was as palpable as the chill in the air.

Many of the volunteers turned out from the Wye Valley Running Club, of which Ms Edwards was a keen member.

Club chairman Martin Flowers said: "We are trying a personal approach, asking ask people who may have been in the area last week.

"She is an outgoing and bubbly person who is a bright light of the club - she is a friend of us members and we are desperate to find her," he said.

So on they went... Churchill Gardens... Aylestone Hill... the colleges... Venns Lane... roughly the same routes to the same locations at same time she went missing - mid-to-late afternoon on Friday, Dec 10.

"Most of us know her through the running club, I've known her for 17 years now and this is just completely out of character for her. - we just want to find her and know she is safe and well, " said friend and fellow Wye Valley runner Becky Ansfield.

"Whenever I would see her, she would always ask after my boys and the dog and has always been very positive."

With races, she has such a great drive and encouraging to others," she said.

Ms Edwards is believed to have been wearing a green Raab jacket, blue jeans and casual brown boots with white trim and sole when she went missing.

Hunt for missing Janet Edwards steps up as concern grows

“Hereford's Aylestone Hill/Venns Lane where she is last thought to have been seen” from the article above.

They don’t seem to have any real idea where or if Janet was actually seen at all after the Dunelm visit in the morning.

I haven't seen any mention of a mobile phone at all, which is unusual in this day and age. Normally in a missing person's case the police would give a time and date of when it was last in use but there doesn't appear to be any reports of Janet having one.

If she does have one then the police are keeping very quiet about it for some reason.

Has there been any mention of where Janet was between the visit to Dunelm at 10.30am and the “sighting” at Beechwood Court at either 2.30pm or 3.00pm?

Even allowing for traffic, it’s a maximum 15 minute drive from one to the other.

It's possible her phone was amongst the "other items" with her car

Beechwood Court says private residents parking only. It seems a strange place to park unless she was visiting a resident there.

Mind you I've just realised it doesn't actually state that's where she parked, I'm just assuming.

There is such a lot about Janet we don't know:

1. Does she have a partner, and if so, do they live together?
2. Does she own a mobile phone?
3. Who was the last known person to speak to her?
4. When she was last seen, was it an actual physical sighting or was it CCTV footage?
5. What was she doing at Beechwood Court/Venns Road that afternoon?
6. Why did she leave her car behind and walk off down Venns Road?
7. Why have the police narrowed the time frame down for any possible sightings from 3pm - 7pm?
8. When was she reported missing and by who?

I do feel some of this info would be useful
Question 1 , 2 and 5 are out there but not from police or Mainstream media

All great questions @WiseOwl!

The Hereford Times just keeps re-writing the same article with no new information (no surprise there ) and WM police don’t seem exactly forthcoming either. Has there even been a press conference?

Why would there be a press conference? There are hundreds of people missing across the country, there are only press conferences in exceptional cases. In others, such as this, police will issue updates as and when befitting, ie some news to impart.

Do the reporters in Herefordshire down tools (or laptops) over the weekend? No updates on Janet at all?

Have there been no searches for her over the weekend, whether organised by the police, her family or members of her running club?

What is going on here?

Ten days since she went missing, there is increasing concerned for the welfare of missing woman Janet Edwards.

The 66-year-old, is a "healthy lady and a keen runner" whose disappearance is completely out of character.

She is a well-known and well-liked member of the Herefordshire community having served for our NHS.

Detective Inspector Cath Taylor, of West Mercia Police, said: “I would like to thank our public in Herefordshire and beyond for their continued support with this investigation and sharing our appeals, along with those who have been searching tirelessly of their own accord.

"We continue to conduct enquiries and searches utilising specially trained officers, police dogs and volunteer rescue groups in an effort to locate Janet.

"Her family continues to be supported and updated by the police at this difficult time."

Missing Hereford woman Janet Edwards still missing

Oh dear, 10 days missing.
My theories are:

She may have had a medical episode somewhere while taking a shortcut or checking out a new running route in a rural area and may be in a field/bushes somewhere.

She may have been involved in a hit & run and has been moved/taken somewhere rural.

We haven't heard about any husband/partner, ex or otherwise, but I don't suspect them as I think they would have been mentioned by now.

Hereford is a very safe, small town so I don't suspect murder or serious foul play in the middle of the day, if at all.

MOO.

I'm also wondering whether something medical happened to her suddenly causing confusion. Obviously mental health problems are a possibility but seems unlikely with her based on the little we know..but possible.
I'm really struggling as to why she hasn't been picked up by a witness or cctv etc somewhere on those busy streets ..or if so why the police arnt communicating that which may help
