Oh dear, 10 days missing.
My theories are:

She may have had a medical episode somewhere while taking a shortcut or checking out a new running route in a rural area and may be in a field/bushes somewhere.

She may have been involved in a hit & run and has been moved/taken somewhere rural.

We haven't heard about any husband/partner, ex or otherwise, but I don't suspect them as I think they would have been mentioned by now.

Hereford is a very safe, small town so I don't suspect murder or serious foul play in the middle of the day, if at all.

MOO.

It only takes one person to cause foul play in the middle of the day, however safe an area has previously been.

Julia James and Lindsay Birbeck are both cases of women murdered when walking alone during the day.

I would agree with that.

If JE wanted to get away for a while, why not take the car? Why not let a loved one know prior to taking off? Why not let her running club friends know she wouldn't be at the weekend meet?

Now it's in the news and her family are clearly so worried and scared...why not find a way to send a message that she's okay but taking some time out and will be in touch when she's ready?

I don't feel JE fits a profile of someone taking off of their own accord.

But...if she just went shopping and then decided to go for a walk...why hasn't she been found? Most walking routes have more than one person a day walking them, so you'd think someone would have gone past the spot where she got into trouble, if that's what happened.

True, but I just don't get the feeling with this one.

Plus, where was she between the Dunelm visit at 10.30hrs and the sighting near Beachwood Court/Venns Lane at 14.30hrs...?

It's still hasn't been confirmed if she was visiting someone there or parking up for a run, or a walk or what.

Did her car still have her Dunelm shopping inside?? Because if it did, then she didn't go back home before going to Venns Lane.....and 4 hours is quite a long time to spend in Hereford town centre.

MOO.

Self reported “safest town” surveys on Rightmove aren’t really the most accurate form of data collection to be fair. It’s more helpful to look at the crime statistics, or to have parents who have lived there for over 25 years and know the town quite well.

“Safe” relative to inner city crime hotspots - quite probably. It’s not a typical leafy, quaint cathedral city though. Like lots of towns there’s a massive drug problem and some parts of the town report crime rates 200% above the national average.

WEST Mercia Police has said "thorough searches" for Janet Edwards are continuing, with the former nurse last seen in Hereford 11 days ago.

Specialist police and friends are still searching for Ms Edwards, 66, who was last seen in the area of Beechwood Court, Venns Late, at 3pm on Friday 10th December 2021

Officers have continually appealed for anyone with dash cam or video door bell footage from the Venns Lane, Aylestone Hill and Commercial Road area between 3pm and 7pm to check it.

Desperate friends have met several times at Churchill Gardens, at the top of Aylestone Hill, where they have searched and handed out posters.

Nikki Tyler, a friend of Ms Edwards and a member of Wye Valley Runners, said the local community had pulled together during a “very upsetting time”.

She said: “Jan was a very happy bubbly character. I was with her the day before she went missing and she was planning ahead, planning to race, looking forward to Christmas with her family.

“We just hope we can find something positive and bring her home for Christmas.”

As Beechwood Court is retirement housing you would think that Janet either went to visit someone she knew that lived there, or maybe she went to view a flat to buy/rent?

Otherwise it is a strange place for her to leave her car, and the police still haven't confirmed if the last sighting of her at 3.00 that afternoon was by a witness or on CCTV.

Yes, a few more details would be nice.....no point keeping anything back now really.

Christmas hope for clues on missing woman Janet Edwards

The official line is 'no trace'.

No indication of spending patterns, no confirmation of movements beyond 3pm on the afternoon she vanished somewhere in the area of Beechwood Court retirement complex.

Does that sentence mean she was actually last seen INSIDE the retirement complex?

That's the thing, Wiseowl, the police have been very scant on details.
However, I do understand that she was seen outside, as the searches have been taken place outside and I haven't read of any homes, apartments or retirement complexes being searched.

Beachwood Court is along Venns Road, where there is a school, at least 2 care homes, a blind persons facility and a few other places where you think CCTV would be available to have caught sightings of her.

I wonder if any of her friends can shed light on why she parked near Beachwood Court? Did she mention she knew someone there? Or was planning a visit/jog/walk?

No mention of any husband/partner, so I'm presuming she lives alone?

In a very early report a running club member did mention that Janet used to run with her partner, but I wasn't sure if it meant a running club partner or someone she was in a relationship with - it didn't make it very clear.

Also down Venns Road there is Nuffield Health Hospital, which should have CCTV facing the road you would think.

It is very odd that there has been no video footage at all of Janet after she (supposedly) left Beechwood Court that afternoon, and no reported witness sightings either.

As you say the police have been very scant on any details regarding Janet, and I still don't believe there has been any mention of her mobile phone (assuming she has one of course).
