A man seen with a suitcase may hold the key to the disappearance of a teenager who detectives fear has been murdered.

Jayden Parkinson, 17, was last seen on CCTV leaving Didcot Parkway railway station in Oxfordshire shortly before 16:30 GMT on 3 December.

Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Murray said police were now focusing on trying to find a man who was seen with a large suitcase in a field in the small village of Upton in the early hours of December 9.

"That suitcase was large, it was heavy, it was difficult to manage and that man was having difficulty removing that suitcase from that area," he said.

Mr Murray said the same man with the suitcase was seen in nearby Didcot about half an hour later.

Police have cordoned off an area following up a lead.

Supt Christian Bunt said it is one of two significant search areas - the other remains in the village of Upton.

Listen to Supt Christian Bunt's briefing on Sunday, December 15
He thanked members of the public for their understanding while the searches were being carried out but reiterated an earlier plea that they don't organise their own searches.

Her mom seems heartbroken in her post.

Since all the articles seem to indicate Jayden was just recently homeless but nothing about her mother also being and Jayden having to leave her mother's home, I wonder if there was some sort of incident that was more along the lines of her being kicked out? (Or if I'm misinterpreting what it seems to be inferring?)

I can't imagine how much that must add to her mother's agony if that's the case. And even if it weren't, this happening just after she's no longer under her mother's roof has just got to compound her heartbreak, though it's not as if she made this happen to Jayden.

Is it just me, or do they seem to be basically dancing around stating that she may well have been in that suitcase that the 3rd guy was struggling with?

This whole thing is just so very sad!

How terrible that we have such a young and lovely girl who is homeless and apparently with the wrong group of people who have hurt her. My heart breaks....

No, that's the clear implication. Poor girl.

We can link to her facebook as she's deceased, can't we? She was a member of a facebook anti-child abuse group; makes you wonder about what had been going on in her life.

I'd like to know who reported her missing - have I missed that?

The ex-boyfriend of a missing teenager from Oxford has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Jayden Parkinson, 17, was last seen at Didcot railway station on Tuesday 3 December. Officers are continuing to search for her body.

Ben Blakeley, 22, of Christchurch Road, Reading, also faced a charge of perverting the course of justice when he appeared before Oxford magistrates.

:sigh:

I'd like to know who reported her missing - have I missed that?

The latest Daily Mail piece she failed to return to Oxford the day she went missing "as planned", so maybe the manager of the hostel she was staying at?

The police say she may have been pregnant, but it's not confirmed:

The accused formerly lived in Jayden's home town of Didcot, so I presume they met there. He also seems to have a minor criminal record for "using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of immediate unlawful violence", a couple of years ago:

I wonder if the other person arrested is a relative of his?

Cases like this make me so curious as to what is going on behind the scenes...

If she was pregnant I hope that its not the reason she was killed :(

Was murdered Jayden Parkinson pregnant? Police investigate whether missing teen was expecting baby

Jayden’s boyfriend Ben Blakeley, 22, of Reading, Berks, appeared at Oxford magistrates court today accused of murdering the teen and perverting the course of justice by hiding her body and lying to police about when he last saw her.

He is due at Oxford crown court tomorrow where a judge will decide whether to grant him bail.

Blakeley is accused of killing Jayden some time between December 2 and December 12.

Detectives have also charged a 17-year-old lad with perverting the course of justice by helping to hide Jayden’s body and other evidence between December 3 and December 10.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before an adult court in Oxford.

Magistrates remanded the teen to a secure location and ordered him to appear before a special youth court in Oxford tomorrow.

More than 100 officers, police sniffer dogs and a helicopter were last night continuing to scour the village of Upton in Oxfordshire and nearby Didcot.

Forensics officers have been spotted searching large wooded areas and farmland as they hunt for clues.

Jayden, who was living at a youth hostel in Oxford, was last seen on December 3 leaving Didcot Parkway railway station, close to where her mum lives.

Cops fear her disappearance may be linked to a man seen struggling with a large, heavy suitcase in Didcot on December 9.
