Yes, and that would typically result in a manslaughter charge. Killed, but didn't mean to, didn't plan to, spur of the moment. That is what I always felt happened with Libby, in that park, on that bench: he attacked her, she was screaming, he silenced her, she died.
Police still believe it was homicide - a term not often used in the UK. It covers both murder and manslaughter.
