Re second post mortem, im sure someone posted a link a while back that explained after a period of time if murder is suspected but no suspect to be charged then a second post mortem is carried out anyway, i cant remember all the details but it may help someone else fill in or provide the link.

Personally i think charges are imminent BUT i have thought that for a while and i truly believed the charge would come following his arrest last week.

Glad she can finally be released to her family.. there must have been some complex tests involved for this amount of time ..cant imagine what .. To me to have to wait for such tests indicates some difficulty in ascertaining what happened

Yes I remember reading the link where it was explained a second, independent post mortem would be carried out so that a defence team could have access to it in future. That way the family can lay their loved one to rest.

After reading that, it actually surprised me how long it took to return Libby’s body to her family. I wondered at one stage whether that had been done already in private, but then the HDM confirmed police saying her body had not yet been released last month.

So I can only think testing has taken a long long time. Hoping the return of her body does not have any bearing on whether a charge will or won’t happen. I hope they have all they need to prosecute. They have gathered the evidence, perhaps they’re still awaiting a CPS decision.

Yes but come on!! They must have enough evidence to have some chance of a conviction? Really??

I really, really, really hope so - as we all do. But yes, in this day and age you would hope they have quite a bit of evidence, even if most or all is circumstantial, it still all stacks up.
Obviously they will know a lot more than we do, just hope it's enough and that maybe things have just taken longer as they were also busy building a strong case against him for his trial that never happened earlier this month.

In that case could it be that they just finalised the second post mortem and tests? That would explain why it took soo long?

Think theyre still yet to present to CPS , AudioH.

“The investigation is continuing with a file being prepared for the Crown Prosecution Service as results of the additional analysis are being finalised.”

Please would you use the UK date format in UK threads, otherwise there will be confusion.
Pawel Relowicz was arrested on 6/2/19 = 6 February.

No problem! :) I'm just getting used to using that format. Just wondering WHY they do that?? I know that here in Latvia they do it that way - 6/2/19 = 6 February, 2019.

Now I'm thinking - Maybe just spelling out the month & date will lessen the confusion! :D

Surely in all cases where the person isn't found quickly and where they are found some distance away ascertaining exactly what happened should take time?

Searching phone and internet data takes months. Some scientific tests take time. If they needed to look at bacterial samples from soil or water to try and ascertain where she'd been for example - those cultures would take time to grow.

We don't know all we can do now is hope she gets justice.

I dont know the official answer but i always thought it was just because in the UK we say eg "the 4th of July" so the 04 comes 1st then the july-07 whereas in the US they tend to say "July 4th" the july 07 comes before the date 04. Its absolutely crazy in my mind though, its a small world why not have a standardised time format. Must make it confusing for pilots/air traffic etc.

Being in the water certainly would not have helped I agree

Though phone and internet searches usually take weeks rather than many months....I would have thought his phone and internet searches were back before libby was even found unless they had problems locating devices

Imo the delay seems to be down to something to do with specialist PM investigations .. but pure speculation on my part

Not just UK - Europe uses that way to denote time.
and also Europe uses military time - as in 1pm is 13:00 hours.... have to get used that now too! :)

It's pretty much only America that does it the other way!

Makes more sense in ascending order (DD/MM/YY) just as time is written in descending order (HH:MM:SS) and would be ridiculous any other way.

Anyway, probably safer to use words lol!

(Hope you're ok, by the way)

Seems like America goes a different in many things. No metric system like here either! :)

And thank you - staying strong! But her twin is broken up as is expected. :(

From the wording in the latest police statement ('The investigation is continuing with a file being prepared for the Crown Prosecution Service as results of the additional analysis are being finalised'), it does sound as though a second post-mortem may have been carried out recently - potentially at the request of PR's defence. Previous statements referred to a range of further forensic tests/investigations, whereas this specifically says *the* additional analysis (singular).
So perhaps this second pm was ordered in connection with last week's arrest?

Initially I'd been wondering why the CPS report hadn't been submitted yet - relevant staff on leave, vast amount of evidence to collate - but waiting for a second pm to be done would be sufficient explanation.

Police can't lay charges on serious offences such as rape/murder without the CPS's say-so (Crown Prosecution Service - Wikipedia) so hopefully the report will now be quickly finalised & considered by the CPS, so that we could see charges brought within the next couple of weeks. Perhaps even before Libby's funeral, which may bring some limited comfort to her loved ones.

I had another thought on the park bench last night. The one that was the scene of late night forensics whilst PR was in custody.
I am wondering if it could have been unrelated to Libby or anything PR said in interview. If they were looking for DNA to corroborate a further report of outraging decency etc?
We assume it is related to Libby but actually it now seems at least some of the police activities at that time were focused on keeping him in custody. If the forensic exams didnt return anything useful (no charge for potential offence) then we wouldnt have heard about it.

That i suppose is one of the difficulties when so little informationis officially in the public domain.
