Hello again everyone - I'm just trying to catch up so please forgive any repetition! Regarding entry into the river, this picture from the Mirror (8 Feb 2019) appears to show an entry point at the boat house without a bank of reeds. There were also photos of forensics working on stone steps leading down into the river nearby, which could have been an easy entry point for someone trying to escape, or for a body to be pushed in. I'm very curious to see if forensic evidence will be presented about the ruined buildings next to the river, or the bench.

I do think this is the most likely entry point into the river ..whether accidentally or put into there ...it fits with the scream witness location , its one of the few areas that you have access from the fields and no reeds a direct drop

Imo : This is where PR parked and this is why i think libby ran into the park. I think she realised she was in danger when he drove into the darkness of that back road. She would be in the passenger seat on the left handside. He would have had to stop there because of the bollards. Its secluded and no cars would be going down there because its a dead end. When he's stopped, Shes managed to open the door and the closest option to her would be through those gates.

That makes a lot of sense - it would be one reason why Libby, scared of the dark, would choose to run in that direction. It would, at that moment in time, seem to be the safest route away from PR.

I am personally keen to hear the summing up before jumping to any conclusions on the timing. I am sure the prosecution will cover this in detail.

The prosecution will know that timings may be problematic...him mentioning it in opening i think indicates that ...why have the prosecution not submitted any evidence around this ? Eg expert witnesses on running speeds under different conditions?
Its their jon to prove he did it yet nothing on that apart from a brief mention and an as the crow flies measurement of oak rd to the river

We do not know what the jury have been shown. In most cases they are taken on a site visit. I presume due to Covid that has not happened, but I would imagine they have been given a remote tour.
We have only had very scant reports back from the journalists in court.

The thing is it is hard to be sure what has been presented based on snippets from HDM

Finding it very hard to believe he’s telling the truth. Seems to me he went back to the park to hide what happened. You simply would not leave a drunken girl in that state, in the freezing temperatures, in a dark park alone at night. And if he did, why didn’t he go to the police immediately when she was known to be missing. Obviously LS, despite being intoxicated, put up a fight and he wasn’t happy about it. I’d be interested to know what he wore the second time he went to the park- ie. did he cover his face

Especially as he had a bath before hand

Just a few waking thoughts after reading the last few points

I also think pleading guilty to rape (going down the lines of i was violent but she couldn't consent i took advantage) and not guilty to murder would have been a better defence strategy

I do think if he killed her it was a massive step up for him and if he is clever enough to know about cameras and clever enough to think i must put her into the river because of my semen (in a split second)
I agree that going back out in that area a few hours later was at odds with this.

I find the claim that they had sex by the park gates so bizarre im wondering if part truth and that is where he attacked her ....but if she was killed or unconscious getting her into the river in ghe timescale is virtually impossible

Theres a few different gates on the front of Beresford park and a house on the park aswell as the back of the houses. Id say the area he would of committed the killing has to be (if he did it) up near the river if he was to dump her in the river, its unlikely he could of dragged or carried her through the park, up the bit to the river, put her in the river - in the darkenss and get out of there.

If he killed her it was at the back end near the pond - thats the only way he would have time to put her in the river, or if he went back and put her in then. Did it ever get explained what Libbys day was like before she got refused entry at Welly? She must of been drinking a long time to get in that state.

I agree we haven't heard everything..but its mainly detail...certainly imo we would have heard if an expert witness had been called around running etc even if just a mention he existed.

Regarding site visit or reconstruction..I feel as it might be deemed very important the prosecution could have made it happen within covid guidelines...especially as its outdoors

I'd be very surprised if there was a video reconstruction and we hadn't heard ...we heard about the drone footage just dont get to see it

No I really do get the feeling the prosecution skirted around the timeline in the same way they ignored the screams that didn't suit there theory

I think the problem with a reconstruction is more to do with the fact that there isn’t much forensic evidence i.e they don’t know where an attack may have taken place, where she entered the water etc (as far as we are aware) so difficult to put forward any sort of scenario without those landmarks MOO

Yes thats true ...I do think even running from oak rd to the river may have given some indication ..

Also would a prosecution reconstruction at the park actually showing how possible it is remove all doubt? This make me wonder .. is it possible
Probably not.

Forgive me for this stupid example but it is just to try and illustrate a potential problem - the prosecution could stage it with Usain Bolt the defence with Captain Tom Moore. I know they would try to match for age but even then the other side could argue the toss about state of mind and relative fitness.

Personally I do not see a real problem with timing. My friend had a very lucky escape when someone attacked her in daylight in a park. She said one minute she was walking past a man next she was on the floor with her pants off before she had time to realise what was happening. Luckily a dog walkers dog was snuffling in and barked and she screamed fire for some reason and he ran off. But basically that much was so quick she hardly realised it was happening.
