Christopher Meyer of Kurdish origin? Needs an interpreter? Maybe he anglicised
his name.

Yeah, I found that odd as well, maybe he was adopted as a child and that's why the name change, although that doesn't explain the need for a interpreter.
Unless he has already tried to claim he doesn't speak very good English whilst in custody.

Specialist police officers are continuing to search for clues in Exeter city centre in connection to the alleged murder of Lorraine Cox.

Forensic officers were seen probing an alley off North Street on Wednesday and detectives say their investigations are likely to continue in the area for some time.

I've just had an awful thought. On Lorraine's FB page it says 'moved to Plymouth'.
Some comments underneath suggest LE don't think Lorraine put this herself, implying someone who was in possession of her phone put this.
I wonder if this where '*they' actually did move the poor lady to?

well MY terrible thought/theory is that she was gang raped and murdered on the street after leaving the bar (last seen in city centre early morning hours)- thus the intensive cordoned off streets and areas in the city center and multiple arrests. I wonder if the 71 year old arrested is the father or grandfather of one of the arrested perps.
:( Moo

First post for a while. I am down in Plymouth and know Exeter fairly well. Police say her phone was possibly used to put the ‘moved to Plymouth’ to interfere with the investigation. The Man charged with Murder is an Iraqi Kurd but lived or was close to the owners of the Kebab shop outside where he and others were arrested. Mary Arches Street is still closed with the tents up. Lorraine was a very well liked young lady and it has left her family and friends devastated! I hope they get Justice. The Police have still not confirmed if they have found a body. I have not written anything not printed in media or local Police reports so I hope this is ok.

An article with a quick update on whats happening. Mary Arches Street is now open with a floral tribute. A fundraiser has been set up to cover Lorraine funeral cost which has surpassed its goal and its this Thursday Christopher Mayer will appear before Exeter Crown court.

Thank you for the update. Seems to be very little information at the moment about this case, which is good to ensure a fair trial etc.
I wonder what will happen to the other men who were released on bail until Wednesday (7th)...does that mean they will either be charged too, or bail extended or dropped?
I guess we shall see.

A man has denied murdering missing Exeter woman Lorraine Cox after appearing in court at crown court under a new name.

Azum Mangori (formerly referred to as Christopher Meyer) pleaded not guilty to the murder of 32-year-old Lorraine Cox, who was last seen alive in the centre of Exeter in the early hours of September 1.

A quote from the above link (Devon live news)

'Mr Adam Vaitalingam, QC, said there have been problems arranging conferences with his client at Exeter and Long Lartin prisons and he has not been able to take instructions.'

I wonder if this is to do with possible Covid related restrictions, and/or the accused is being uncooperative?

Possibly a mixture of Covid and staff shortages, as Long Lartin has quite the reputation for being a hard place to work having had a few roits over the years.
Although if he is being uncooperative then he should fit in there quite well as it's already home to Steve Wright, Christopher Halliwell and Ben Geen....

Police have released a bit more information now i.e how they knew Lorraine had been murdered before finding her body. I will post the article now, it's absolutely terrible.

There we go...so how did Azum Mangori become Christopher Meyer?
