What a relief - so pleased the Jury didn't choose the manslaughter option

Jemma Mitchell, 38, has been found guilty at the Old Bailey of the murder of Mee Kuen Chong, whose headless body was dumped in Salcombe, Devon.

More details at the link now

A jury at the Old Bailey deliberated for seven hours .........

Stored her remains in the garden of the house....................

The victim appeared to have been redressed in clothes meant for a larger woman........

No forensic evidence was recovered from the suitcase - Ms Chong’s DNA was identified on a bloodstained tea towel in a pocket.........

Mitchell has a conviction for a breach of a non-molestation order relating to family members.

In 2016, she received a conditional discharge at North West London Magistrates’ Court for breaching the order in respect of her sister and brother-in-law.

Good news about the verdict. I still find this case utterly bizarre.

Me too - it's like a bad movie imo. I guess we can say now that everything that happened to Mee Chong was the product of a very warped mind. And tbh MC seems to have behaved very oddly herself, thanks to her illness, which just adds to the bizarreness of it all.

The non-molestation order JM breached is an interesting addition to what we thought we already knew. I suspect a lot more than that is going to come out now the trial is over.

The cold-hearted woman who killed, decapitated and dumped her friend

Over the two-week hearing, Mitchell listened from the glass dock and Ms Chong's family watched on a video link from Malaysia.

[...]

Between the death of Ms Chong and the trip to Salcombe, Mitchell displayed further clear-headedness by going on a date to London Zoo with someone who she had met online.

So, she was born in Australia, had qualified as an osteopath in Australia and had a professional career there, and owned property in Australia according to this:

The cold-hearted woman who killed, decapitated and dumped her friend

Yet in 2015 she came to the UK where she couldn't work professionally, had to live in a nightmare property that was falling down and full of the hoarded belongings of her family, with whom she got on so badly that her own sister applied for, and got, a non-molestation order against her.

Doesn't it make you wonder what happened in Australia that she felt leaving was her best move?

Yes, it does rather.

What a strange person she is! A cold blooded heartless cruel seemingly premeditated murder of a vulnerable woman, all the while claiming to be a 'devout christian' and then lying to the bitter end in the face of all the evidence. She's an odd person and her behaviour when the police started smashing on the door was off beam - saying 'hello how are you?' as opposed to 'why the heck are you smashing my door?' and not screaming for help from her mother when being told she's being cuffed for murder - an innocent person would lose their mind at that point and want everyone to be alerted.

I'm so glad that justice has been served.

The most bizarre moment in that body cam footage is right at the beginning, when, after they've just battered her door down with an enforcer in the middle of the night, JM says, 'Hello, how are you?" and the detective says, "Yeah, good."

Surreal!

And the phrase "churchgoing ex-osteopath" must be a first, even for the Daily Mail!
