Just saw this mentioned don't know if it has already, been posted
I can't help being slightly skeptical about this find given that it was found after hordes of people had descended upon the area and no-one spotted it. It'll be interesting to see if it is mentioned tomorrow in the press conference. JMO

tomorrow's front pages ( only one features the NB case, as below)

wonder if the reporter called the number ( family & friends spokespeople) to ask whether it belonged to NB or whether she was wearing gloves, because gloves were not in the description of her clothing ( LP website description)

Blay Brook has an underground portion I’ve circled in blue on the google earth photo.
Does anyone have a map of other underground large pipes or overflows?

Thinking that a body could sadly end up in accidentally or otherwise

Might sound nuts, but I had a very strong vision she'd entered a pipe under water when she first went missing, but I couldn't understand how it could have happened as it would be against the flow. I tried researching it and looking for a drainage/overflow pipe, but couldn't find anything.

Personally , I find this sensationalistic tabloid style of reporting quite distracting , in general.
On the other hand , it keeps the case in the news and in people's minds .
It is a treachearous and precarious act of balance , but one that is necessary nevertheless .

Sorry for the OT , i suppose it's a cry to keep our eyes on the evidence, and let the evidence lead us. Let's not get distracted.

At this point the glove could belong to literally anyone, the whole area has been a free for all for the public
Yeahhh I'm not so sure about the glove either. Like surely the police and loads of other people would have been walking around/searching that area for the last 2 weeks? Seems unlikely it's anything relevant imo but still good to make sure.

Have sniffer dogs been out at all? I haven't seen anything to suggest they have and I don't understand why? Is it because she was there so frequently it wouldn't really help as her scent is all over?

An investigation has been launched into her whereabouts and a significant, resource-intensive search in the area has been ongoing ever since, with drones, search dogs and other resources being utilised.
Our thanks to those continuing to support the police with the search, from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service utilising their staff and drone capability, Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue team and the North West Underwater Search Team. This search will continue today and in to next week.
We are also supporting Nicola’s family and remain in close contact with them.
We are keeping an open mind about where Nicola may be and a team of detectives are also investigating the circumstances around her disappearance and are following a number of lines of enquiry.

above dated January 29 clarifying some facts for those who are unaware of some of the resources LE put into this search from the outset.

I think the problem is that she'd been missing for 3 days before tv and the national papers picked the story up from the local papers, by which time the police had done a lot of work with minimal press and social media interest.
As most people didn't prick their ears up until the coverage started to get a bit hysterical, they assume that work wasn't done.

It’s now a week since the mum of two went missing and since last Friday we have been carrying out extensive searches in the area along with many other enquiries in the background.
This work has included
• Extensive and thorough searches of the river and footpaths by specialist police search teams and partner agencies including HM Coastguard, mountain rescue and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. Resources have included specialist search dogs, drone, police helicopter and divers. These searches are continuing.
• A team of detectives working behind the scenes analysing telephony, house to house, CCTV, dashcam and carrying out other digital enquiries and examining information coming into the inquiry

dated Feb 3rd

There are lots of media reports stating no area or inadequate area searches were conducted, this is an insult to HM Coastguard, mountain rescue and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. Resources have included specialist search dogs, drone, police helicopter and divers.
The facts are stated here.
It does not stop misinformation being reported as fact.
