Sorry trying hard to catch up, but now the police website and MSM are saying Willow was found at the bench? Have we been able to confirm where Willow was actually found?
If the police are saying Willow was found at the bench then you can't get it any more confirmed than that.

a mile in one direction and 3 miles in the opposite direction from memory
Quite a distance then. I can't seem to find anything on where the Wyre becomes tidal.

I'd be curious if it's possible to calculate from the flow rate in m3/s, the width and level of the river at St Michael's a ballpark speed at which an object would move along. But my brain can't figure that out at 3am!

I do Search and Rescue but I wouldn't have a clue how to work calculations.
I leave it to the specialists because it is really complex for my fried brain.

I was thinking earlier how a land search will be complicated by the colour of the clothes she was wearing.
The first question we always ask is
Give us a colour, what was she wearing?
It's so much easier to focus on a colour.. you're just walking so slowly along using eyes and body to stop, search each direction, left and right and without a colour it's extraordinarily difficult.
Black is not a colour and when coloured by environmental factors it's not even black..
It is so easy to miss someone.

and when tides are involved they bring movement and new information at each tide change.

I have searched for weeks up and down the shore, oftentimes with no known colour.. the boat people calculate the tides and undercurrents and movements and they use all kinds of gadgets and even with those skills and equipment it can take weeks and weeks in a big river.

one of the highest causes of accidental death is drowning from shock/immersion on cold water. I think the most logical explanation at this point is that NB sits at the bench after letting the dog off the lead, leaves her phone on the bench and for whatever reason is near the river bank, who knows why, maybe a ball? Maybe just to stand near the edge? She either slips/falls and lands in the river. It would have been freezing at that time of day. The dog may not have seen hence doesn’t jump in. Undercurrents mixed with shock/panic/potential medical episode would result in drowning. The idea someone else is involved is slim, there were plenty of walkers/witnesses around, broad daylight and it’s not exactly easy access in and out.
I agree with this. Just for EG, 254 people drowned in rivers, quarries and lakes in 2018 in Britain. That's alot of people. Source: One in ten admit nearly drowning as UK suffers rise in inland water fatalities

I see the police are also conducting land searches..

We continue to have specialist resources from both the police and other emergency services in the area searching a significant area of land around the river off Garstang Road. We also have divers in the area and are using underwater drones to search the full length of the River Wyre downstream. Our police dogs have also been out searching.

I note there’s been nothing further on the relevance of this person, only that they’ve been traced. Might still be key to this.

TIMELINE OF NICOLA'S DISAPPEARANCE

Lancashire Constabulary have now confirmed Nicola's movements in the run-up to her disappearance on Friday 27 January.

8.43am - Nicola walked along the path by the River Wyre, having dropped her children off at school

8:50am (approximately) - A dog-walker – somebody who knows Nicola – saw her walking around the lower field with her dog. Their two dogs interacted briefly before the witness left the field via the river path

8.53am – She sent an email to her boss

9.01am – She logged into a Teams call

9.10am (approximately) – A witness – somebody who knows Nicola – saw her on the upper field walking her dog, Willow. Work is ongoing today to establish exactly what time this was

9.30am – The Teams call ended but Nicola stayed logged on

9.35am (approximately) – Nicola's mobile phone and Willow were found at a bench by the river by another dog-walker.

It says here she was ‘baffled as to why police needed to speak to her again’ - I wonder if it was to see if she saw anyone else around the time of interest not NB. In fact any of the witnesses they have spoken to may have been asked if they saw anyone else in the vicinity (acting suspiciously). The police wouldn’t have to release this information as it would jeopardise the investigation. JMO.

Most likely scenario for me given the timeline and the location of the belongings is that she made it back to the bench still on her call, was distracted by the dog, went to the bank in a hurry, lost her footing, slid down the bank, took a blow from the steps, became unconscious before entering the river, and is lost between the bank and the weir. That’s just based on available clues and the timeline, but seems very plausible.

Ok, so, is it the perceived understanding that at 9.10am, after being spotted by the second witness along the path near upper field, at some point Nicola doubled back to the bench that she was seen at 8.53pm?

That is the key question nobody knows, but that would be the assumption from what we believe from the police. This witness at 09.10 is key she knows NB apparentley but they are still trying to confirm an exact time. IMO

Lancashire Constabulary - Search continues for Nicola Bulley as potential new witness is sought

First-time poster here. Been following the case and cannot for the life of me figure out where the phone was found. One witness says they saw it on the bench, but the second says it was on the floor. Do we know? or has it not been confirmed?
There doesn't seem any definitive answer to this? If it was on the floor, possibly NB was wearing wired headphones connected to the phone and she may have stood up pulling the wire out of the phone and it dropped down. The dog running about loose could have knocked it, or 'someone' could have thrown it there...NB herself or potentially someone with her? It seems various people came across the bench area and one of them could have put the phone on the bench and the next person saw it there, or it was always on the bench. The journalist reports of witness accounts appear wildly inaccurate

For me, now piecing a few other bits together (like the anonymity of witnesses) suggests the police knew there was foul play, however, as with a lot of cases like this, it’s someone known to the victim, so they’re watching someone.

I know where my money is right now, but I wont say anything.
I agree. I also have a strong hunch of who it may be. Time will tell.....

Woman who police sought over Nicola Bulley's disappearance saw nothing

A couple of new pieces of information, from the witness yesterday the police were loooking to speak to.

'Ms Bowman - who police hoped could provide key pieces of information in the search for Ms Bulley - does not travel as far as the bench where the missing mother's phone and dog were found.'

'The security camera footage that she was caught on was taken from the caravan park next to the towpath.'
