Asked how he was coping, he said: “I don’t know how I’m coping. I don’t want to think about it. It’s just about the girls. I’m there for them. I don’t really want to elaborate on that. I don’t want to take my eye off that.”

''Friends of missing woman Nicola Bulley say there's new hope she could be found after an "influx of calls" to police following fresh appeals at the scene today.

Emma White told Sky News they were hoping for a "lightbulb moment" exactly a week after she disappeared.

Friends and locals have been holding photos and placards of Ms Bulley by the roadside in the Lancashire village where she went missing.

It appears to have had an effect, with the police getting a number of new calls.''

''But while there is still hope and a will to do whatever is necessary to help, there is also a sense of unease over being in the national spotlight for a week.
"It's very alien for us as a small village", said one local mum.

"It's a close-knit, rural community, and obviously there's been a lot of media attention and a lot of police.

"The whole thing just has the community in shock."

''Another mum said: "Taking our children to school, they can see all of this and they are asking questions. It's hard because you want to shield them from any upset, but they do know something's going on.''

''Village car parks were filled with cars and outside broadcast vans this morning, with Sky News recording live from the bank of the River Wyre, next to the bench where Nicola's belongings were found.

The area is no longer cordoned off, and many people were seen milling around the muddy embankment.

Many police officers are partroling the area and specialist underwater teams and a van with equipment could be seen parked up on a track a short distance from the area around the bench.''

'A top Scots criminologist has detailed five possible theories behind the disappearance of Nicola Bulley as the search for the missing mum enters its seventh day.''

''David Wilson, emeritus professor of criminology at Birmingham City University, said police will consider five options when investigating the disappearance. The theories include an accident, a suicide, a person going missing voluntarily, an abduction or murder.''

''Lancashire Police have said they do not believe any crime has been committed and are treating the incident as a missing person inquiry. Professor Wilson said in the first days of the investigation, detectives will have looked at Nicola's social media profiles, searching Facebook and looking at texts to find out any clues.''

''He said: "They will build up a picture of her, not just in terms of what is known about her in public, but things which might not be known, things she was keeping to herself." The expert said police will also look at the missing mum's bank account usage, to see if any money was used just before she disappeared.''

"It has made local women fearful. If they have husbands or partners, they have been taking the dogs out instead."

''Giving an update on the search for the missing dog walker at a press conference, Superintendent Sally Riley said the case “is not suspicious but a tragic case of a missing person”.

''Missing Nicola Bulley vanished in a 10-minute window, police believe.
Superintendent Sally Riley told the press conference that the last confirmed sighting of her took place at 9.10am that day where she was seen on Upper Field walking her dog.

Her dog was off the lead which was normal, the superintendent added.
At 9.20am police believe her phone was on a bench while connected to a work Teams meeting, which ended 10 minutes later.

Ms Riley said: “We only have a 10-minute window in which we cannot account for Nicola’s movements.”
