A Metropolitan Police officer has denied a total of 20 offences against four women, including rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and controlling behaviour.

PC David Carrick, 46, of Stevenage, Hertfordshire, entered almost two dozen not guilty pleas as he appeared at St Albans Crown Court on Friday.

Three more women came forward following his first court appearance and he was charged with 19 additional offences, allegedly carried out between January 1 2017 and July 1 2020.

The additional charges include: six more counts of rape, five of sexual assault, two of sexual assault by penetration, two of coercive and controlling behaviour, two of false imprisonment, attempted sexual assault by penetration and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Mr Carrick answered 'not guilty' or 'not guilty, sir' when each of the charges were put to him.

Prosecutor Tom Little told the judge there may be more charges brought in the case.

Patrick Hill, defending did not make an application for bail.

He said the defence for the first 19 charges will be one of consent and that the 20th, the St Albans rape allegation, did not take place.

Judge Michael Kay QC provisionally set a date for a six-week trial beginning on April 26 next year at St Albans Crown Court.

The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge Metropolitan Police officer David Carrick with nine additional offences.

The new charges, which cover six counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, one count of assault by penetration and one count of coercive and controlling behaviour, relate to four women and are alleged to have taken place between 2009 and 2018.

This is in addition to 20 offences Mr Carrick was charged with previously against four separate women. In total, the defendant is now charged with 29 offences against eight women between 2009 and 2020, including:

  • Thirteen counts of rape;
  • Five counts of sexual assault;
  • Three counts of assault by penetration;
  • Three counts of coercive and controlling behaviour;
  • Two counts of false imprisonment;
  • One count of attempted rape;
  • One count of attempted sexual assault by penetration; and
  • One count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.
Mr Carrick, 47, will make his first court appearance in relation to the new charges via videolink at Westminster magistrates' court at 10am on 12 January. He is further listed to appear for a mention hearing at St Albans Crown Court on 28 January.

Peter Burt, Senior District Crown Prosecutor for CPS Thames and Chiltern, said: “Following an ongoing investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary, with continued support from the CPS, we have now charged David Carrick with a total of 29 alleged offences against eight women.


  • David Carrick (DOB: 04/01/1975) was initially charged with a single count of rape on 3 October 2021. He was charged with 13 additional offences on 24 November, some of which have since been split into separate counts as well as the new offences.

Yikes. An allegedly serial sex offender working as a met officer.

The following is pure speculation on my part.

What if he used to position as an officer to make the women feel safe about meeting him through dating sites? Like you maybe wouldn't first meet the guy who ran a shop anywhere but in a public place, with an easy way to cut it short if it wasn't going well, but a police officer, they are safe. They are the law, right?

I also think we will hear of even more charges.

PC David Carrick, 47, has now been charged for a total of 29 offences stretching between 2009 and 2020, with eight women coming forward to accuse him of sexual abuse.

The PC appeared at Westminster magistrates court this morning via videolink from HMP Belmarsh for a preliminary hearing on the new allegations.

Carrick, wearing a suit and black face mask, spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth during the 10-minute court hearing. He ruffled his curly hair as the hearing ended, after being told he would be held in custody until his next court date on January 28 at St Albans crown court.

A trial date for the 46-year-old has been set for April 26, after a case management hearing on February 17.

The prosecutor in the case in Tom Little QC and the defence barrister is Alisdair Williamson QC.

PC Carrick, who has been remanded in custody, did not appear at the hearing deciding his trial date as the video link between the court and Belmarsh Prison in south east London didn't work.

David Carrick, the Metropolitan police officer charged with 29 offences including rape and attempted rape, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court today (Thursday 17 February), where he entered a not guilty plea to the last nine offences.

These relate to four victims and were alleged to have taken place between 2009 and 2018. They are:

• six counts of rape
• one count of attempted rape
• one count of assault by penetration
• one count of coercive and controlling behaviour

Carrick, aged 47 and an officer with the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, has already been charged with 20 offences relating to four separate female victims, to which he has also pleaded not guilty.

In total Carrick has now been charged with a total of 29 offences relating to eight women:

• Thirteen counts of rape
• Five counts of sexual assault
• Three counts of assault by penetration
• Three counts of coercive and controlling behaviour
• Two counts of false imprisonment
• One count of attempted rape
• One count of attempted sexual assault by penetration
• One count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent

Carrick was arrested on 2 October 2021. He remains in custody and suspended by the Metropolitan Police Service at this time.

Carrick’s next appearance will be on Friday 11 March at the Central Criminal Court.

Carrick, 47, who served with the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was taken to hospital from Belmarsh prison in South-East London this morning after suffering injuries.

He is thought to have been given first aid by prison officers. Paramedics were sent to the scene, and an air ambulance was scrambled but not needed.

Carrick was alone at the time he was injured and there is no suggestion anyone else was involved, sources say.

A MET Police officer has been charged with 12 MORE sex offences on top of an original 29 alleged attacks against 11 different women.

Seven of the 12 new charges relate to one of the existing eight victims. The remaining five relate to three new victims.

The new allegations against Carrick bring the total to 41 charges against 11 women.

Carrick, from Stevenage, Herts, will make his first court appearance in relation to the new charges at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 21 March.

A suspended police officer from Stevenage who has 41 charges against him - including rape - has appeared at the Old Bailey.

PC David Carrick, 47, attended a preliminary hearing at the Central Criminal Court in The City today (Tuesday, March 22).

No pleas were entered.

David Carrick Case Update – New Court Date

The next court appearance for David Carrick will be on Friday 27 May – location to be confirmed. This will be a case management hearing and a new trial date will hopefully be finalised at this time.

There will no longer be a hearing on 26th April.

Two provisional trial dates have currently been set – one for October and one for February 2023.

Carrick, who served with parliamentary and diplomatic protection command, now faces 53 charges, including 27 counts of rape

The defendant is now charged with 53 offences against 13 women between 2003 and 2020, including 27 counts of rape, nine counts of sexual assault, five counts of assault by penetration, three counts of coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of false imprisonment, two counts of attempted rape, one count of attempted sexual assault by penetration, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, one count of indecent assault, and one count of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Carrick, 47, will make his first court appearance in relation to the new charges on 30 November at 2pm at Westminster magistrates court. He is due to face trial over the previous 44 charges on 6 February 2023 at Southwark crown court.
