Police in Manchester have long denied the existence of a serial killer locals have dubbed The Pusher. Since 2007, there has been a huge number of drowning deaths along the canal path. I'm not suggesting any correlation but if he can get away with 190 attacks and nobody turns a hair, it certainly does give one food for thought that there may be more to the alarmingly high rate of canal deaths.

It's so frightening that many perps are just so normal looking, unthreatening, even very sweet and friendly outwardly.

Thankfully this guy was stupid enough to record all his attacks. How did he think he'll never be reported or confronted by his victims? Well he almost made it but thanks to one angry victim his luck finally ran out.

He used the same drug as this other monster from London, his name escapes me right now, who ended up killing several of his victims due to overdosing. Are they sure RS hasn't left any bodies somewhere? Hopefully the 70 unidentified rape victims have been cross-checked with missing persons reports.
Have been wondering the same thing, are there any guys who died from an overdose of the drug, or who made it outside and groggy, fell into water or just lay down and died hidden in an alley or stairwell somewhere?
What about the ones who made it home, but then died in their sleep choking on their own vomit or from a heart attack?
Nobody would know where the victim had been and might even think that he was the master of his own demise, or whose death was considered "suspicious" and left at that?
For that matter, perhaps i am getting carried away, but really this perp is a monster, so much so, that i wonder if he even "took out" some girls too, not for sexual gratification, but to practice and because he does not like the girlfriends of the straight men he assaults.
imo, speculation.

The comeback and dangers of the drug GHB
"However, doses of GHB are difficult to calibrate as it is highly potent with a steep dose-response curve, and co-using GHB with alcohol increases its effects. Higher than intended doses or combining it with drugs like alcohol can easily render someone unconscious.

The party scene
What is particularly unique about GHB is that onset of unconsciousness can occur quickly. A user can be dancing and talking with friends, yet a few seconds later fall on the floor unconscious and temporarily unwakeable. In fact, most users expect to “overdose” at some point and fall unconscious."
By 2001, almost every week I witnessed multiple overdoses. I’ve helped carry unconscious bodies from dance floors, I’ve had good friends of mine die after using GHB, and I had even witnessed some of the infamous hidden rooms in some nightclubs that held bodies of unconscious users where nightclub staff waited for them to gain consciousness hours later. Some New York City nightclubs even had their own private ambulance services in order to not alert authorities about the GHB problem in their venues."

Maybe he actually wanted or didn't mind if he was caught in the end. Wanted the notoriety from having committed so many rapes. He's an incredibly sick, twisted person after all.

"Analysis
By Judith Moritz, BBC north of England correspondent

It was only when I listened to their individual stories in court that I began to understand the trauma experienced by Sinaga's victims.

The anguish of a student who'd dropped out of university as a result. Another who'd left his job. A third whose relationship had broken down. One who couldn't bring himself to talk about what happened to his family. And distressingly, another whose pain is so great, it drove him to contemplate suicide.

The publicity surrounding the case yesterday has been hard for them to endure. The media jointly agreed not to report it until after the Christmas break so that counselling services were fully in place for victims before it was made public.

Helplines set up for people affected have received multiple calls including some from potential victims.

"Sinaga's convictions relate to crimes he committed from January 2015 to June 2017, but police believe he began offending years earlier.

Police say they have evidence the 36-year-old targeted at least 190 victims, but they have been unable to identify a further 70 victims and are now appealing for anyone who believes they may have been abused by Sinaga to come forward."

Greater Manchester Police said anyone who believed they might have been attacked by Sinaga could report information online or call its police line on 0800 092 0410 from inside the UK or 0207 158 0124 from abroad.

The force said anyone in need of support from specialist agencies could call 0800 056 0154 from within the UK or 0207 158 0011 from abroad."

The BBC put up this helpful article today.

Do men know enough about drink spiking?

How big a problem is it?

While it's hard to know the true extent as incidents often go unreported, research by the BBC Radio 5 Live Investigations Unit carried out last year found there were at least 2,650 reports of drink spiking in England and Wales between 2015 and 2019.

The data from 22 out of 43 police forces and the British Transport Police showed about one in four of the victims were men.

Between January and September 2019, 68 cases had already been recorded, suggesting the total figure for 2019 was set to hit a five-year high.

The sexual predator who waited outside nightclubs
rbbm.
"Reynhard Sinaga, a 36-year-old postgraduate student, had made this his home for more than seven years, living in a rented flat just a few moments' walk from Factory Nightclub.

Sinaga, originally from Indonesia, was a perpetual student. He already had four degrees and was studying for a doctorate. By night he was a serial sex offender."

"Sinaga typically approached his victims in the street. The rapist operated in a small area surrounding his flat. His targets were men mostly in their late teens or early 20s who had been out drinking, often in the nearby nightclubs.

Some were on their way home, others had become separated from friends.

Many were too drunk to remember their conversation with Sinaga, but for those who did there was no indication of a sexual motive. Sinaga used various pretexts to entice each to his flat.

Some victims could recall being provided with a drink and then blacking out."

"Sinaga presented himself as a flamboyant, churchgoing academic who used the nickname "posh spice". A thin man of slight build and short stature, physically he appeared unthreatening. Several victims recall him smiling a lot.

It was this apparent harmlessness that enabled Sinaga to pose as a "good Samaritan", coaxing men he approached back to the flat."

"We know about the benign impression Sinaga created because dozens of victims gave testimony to police, with 48 of them appearing in court over the course of four trials.

Of the victims who went to court, the vast majority were heterosexual. Ian Rushton, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said he thought Sinaga took "a particular pleasure in preying on heterosexual men".

Most of his victims were living in Manchester at the time and, in all, 26 were students when they were attacked."
"The victims, usually snoring loudly, were often repeatedly raped over several hours."

"Throughout all four trials, Sinaga displayed not a glimmer of empathy or contrition.

His persistent smile, so often used to comfort and disarm, was instead revealed to be a mark of his cruelty."

He added that he remembered the rapist pouring two shots of 'red liquid' and a 'shot of clear liquid' before he 'blacked out' and woke hours later and found himself being assualted.

Prosecutors had to hold four separate trials due to the sheer number of victims involved

Last June, Sinaga was jailed for life with a minimum of 20 years for the convictions from his first two trials.

Reporting restrictions were put in place to avoid prejudice to subsequent trials and to avoid the possibility of potential victims and witnesses being deterred from giving evidence or coming forward.

Do men know enough about drink spiking?
"James King, 25, a student who grew up in Manchester, says a lot of it comes down to "toxic masculinity".

"Men don't feel comfortable in their vulnerability. We probably have a lot to learn from women here.

"Women are expected to be able to ask for help, but rape is not something men are expected to have to deal with.

"Practically, maybe staff at bars and nightclubs need to be aware of the issues too. Bouncers are happy to kick people out, but perhaps they need to be more like guardian figures."

"It's near impossible to tell whether a drink's been spiked by the taste or smell, although GHB may taste slightly salty or smell unusual.

The NHS offers some steps that might help to stop it happening:

  • Don't leave drinks unattended and keep an eye on your friends' drinks
  • Don't accept drinks from people you don't know
  • Avoid punchbowls and stick to bottled drinks
  • If you think your drink's been spiked or start to feel strange or more drunk than you should be, leave your drink and tell a trusted friend straight away
  • Tell someone at home or elsewhere where you're going and when you expect to be home - and have plans for getting home
Some bars provide drinks' lids or plastic stopper devices which can reduce the risk of drink-spiking. Others offer drink-testing kits but they won't test for every drug and don't always work.

Like other posters I am surprised at how this man got away with so many crimes particularly those of heterosexual men. It may be not be 100% politically correct but I imagine if you hung outside Manchester nightclubs starting conversation with strange guys you might get a punch in the mouth or something to that effect.

The below article answers my above post clearly:

Reynhard Sinaga’s conviction must shatter the myth that rape doesn’t happen to men | Alex Feis-Bryce:

That is why the estimated one in five women and one in six men in the UK who have experienced sexual violence, and the organisations supporting them, are less surprised than the wider public and the media that Reynhard Sinaga was able to get away with his crimes for so long. It is true that most of the victims didn’t recall being raped because of the drugs he had given them; but it would not be surprising if others might have recalled the incident but felt unable to go to the authorities. The vast majority of incidents of rape and sexual violence still go unreported because of the shame and stigma that is attached to being a victim of sexual assault. Sinaga was able to exploit this fear to act with impunity.

Apparently the perp had a very slight, petite build, is it possible that extended in other ways... perhaps a larger person may not have realized that a rape had occurred because very little was felt and therefore certain post assault tell-tale signs absent?
speculation, imo.

200 attacks ... it's just mind boggling. What did he say to these men to lure them into his flat? Offer of a drink? It's not like he knew them, he was a stranger to them, approaching them in the street at night, striking up a conversation .... He must be a persuasive talker. Should have made his career in sales.

Just mind boggling!
