Not sure what your question means jessie. They are both in custody awaiting trial, is that what you're asking?

Sorry to confuse, Just wondering if Bill's body could have been put in the river sometime after his disappearance. Like perhaps more recently.

ETA = After 8 months in water wouldn't the body have broken up rather? Just surprised a "body" has been found, by members of the public after so long.
My mind works in ways I wish it didn't - must wait for more info.

Just been googling that Jessie ( if they ever check my google searches I'm on dodgy ground - I'll plead WS as my defence )
Recent case of a body found 3 months after disappearance was badly decomposed and no cause of death able to be ascertained.

I suppose it might come down to how the body was covered ? or if, as you say, it was not put in the river immediately.

Herts Police

The body of a man discovered in a river in Hitchin has now been formally identified as William ‘Bill’ Taylor.

A member of the public found the body near Charlton Road on the afternoon of Sunday, February 10.

Mr Taylor’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Extensive enquiries have been carried out at the scene by officers from the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Major Crime Unit.

Mr Taylor, aged 70, was last seen at his home in Gosmore at around 9pm on Sunday, June 3, 2018.

Since he was reported missing extensive enquiries have taken place and three people have been arrested and charged in connection with his murder.

• Gwyn Griffiths, aged 59, of Lucy Avenue, Folkestone, Kent, has been charged with conspiracy to murder and assisting offenders. He is due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on March 4.

• Angela Taylor, aged 52, of Charlton Road, Hitchin and Paul Cannon, aged 53, of Pirton Road, Hitchin, are both charged with arson, murder and conspiracy to murder. They are due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on April 8.

Have been so busy with Alesha's trial I had forgotten to check for news updates.
No real surprise I suppose, the river is just so close to ATs home, it had to be a possibility it was him.

Condolences and special thoughts for his son Richard and his grandchildren.

R.I.P. Bill

Am I right in thinking that further upstream from where his body was found the river possibly runs underground Alyce? Looking at google maps it seems to disappear at Charlton / Brick Kiln Lane and reappears further along Charlton Road near the A602.

Just seen this -

February 11 - February 22
The annual clean-up of Hitchin’s River Hiz is set to start this Friday, North Herts District Council has confirmed.
The river operates via a balancing tank system which helps maintain the water level. A build-up of sludge and silt can cause problems with the tanks.

Is this an earler trial date or a new plea and trial preparation date for all 3 suspects?
Well I was a bit surprised to see Angela Taylor's and Paul Cannon's names up today because they've already entered their pleas of not guilty. It was only Gwyn Griffiths who was due to plead today.

So I'm not sure but I doubt very much it'd be trial next week. I imagine it could be a combination of GG's plea and trial preparation for all 3.

That would be my guess - they've streamlined it to bring all 3 of them into line for the PTP

Details: For Application for Dismissal of Charges - Case Started - 13:54

I can’t link at the moment, but if you have a look on Court Serve, it is showing slightly differently and it seems to be only Gwyn Griffiths who has the application for dismissal of charges.
Can’t see any update as to whether or not he has been successful.

Been interested in this case since William went missing, what intrigued me was the police launching a murder vestigation with no body being found but early reports said that were acting on information received how could someone else know so much and not be involved ?

Welcome English007.

Sometimes I think they are acting on information from family, in this case he may have said something about the arson attack or the phone wires being cut, and also I think information could be something as simple as people who knew him very well knowing what would be deemed out of character for him, not contacting anyone on his special birthday for instance and knowing they would be worried. Or some family members not contacting him on his birthday, for instance, if that is the case.

He definitely logged a police report before he went missing about the arson attack, He didn't contact family on his birthday but had been reported missing days before that, I really don't understand the motive.
