Bravo!! BRAVO, I could tell from your post #99 ...Your call on the situation was honest and direct! There is mental illness and there is also justice/injustice collectors. I work in the Mental Health Sector and have seen it all. Most of my work currently is with violent behavior. Dual Diagnosis. People have choices. I am just not one to give an easy pass. Especially after working with sex offenders. I hate the press jumps on finding excuses. JMO. for what it is worth.
Thank you for your kind responseBravo!! BRAVO, I could tell from your post #99 ...Your call on the situation was honest and direct!
Those who make excuses for inexcusable behavior, help no one.
Dr Bello is believed to have lived in this New York City apartment building
Nigerian born, Thanks.
- A senior law enforcement official said Bello asked for a specific doctor on the 16th floor. When he was told that doctor wasn't there, he became angry and started shooting at everyone.
- Officials said Bello tried to set himself on fire before committing suicide. A photo provided by authorities shows him dead on the floor of the hospital, wearing a bloodied doctor's coat.
- Sources tell NBC 4 New York a preliminary investigation reveals Bello was hired at the hospital in Aug. 2014 as a house physician, but resigned from the hospital in Feb. 2015 in lieu of termination.
- He went to medical school on the island of Dominica in the Caribbean.
- Bello has past arrests for sex abuse, turnstile jumping, burglary and public urination, law enforcement sources said.
- A New York State licensing website does not reveal any disciplinary history.
- Senior law enforcement officials describe Bello as a transient recently, with at least five different addresses since he left the hospital.
A former colleague of the doctor who opened fire at a New York City hospital where he used to work says he had been a problematic employee.
Dr. David Lazala is a family medicine doctor who said he trained Henry Bello at Bronx Lebanon.
Lazala says Bello "was very aggressive, talking loudly, threatening people." He says Bello worked at night as a doctor and sent him a threatening email after Bello was fired.
Police say Bello was arrested in 2004 on a charge of sexual abuse after a woman told police he grabbed her, lifted her up and carried her off, saying, "You're coming with me." He was also arrested in 2009 on a charge of unlawful surveillance after two women reported he was trying to look up their skirts with a mirror. The arrest was later sealed.
He had no business workng in the hospital. A horrible avoidable tragedy.
With his past and his reputation...terrible.
Agreed. The medical profession needs to be one that gives no second chances. One single case of sexual abuse should mean your career is over and done with.
