I wasn't aware of it until just now, but it looks like Ron got sentenced to more than his mandatory minimum on one charge. He had two 15-year minimums and one 3-year minimum. But he was actually sentenced to 15, 15, and 7+. No biggie, but in case anyone is interested, here's the info:

It's the sentence listed in months rather than years. It comes out to slightly over 7 years. It's showing on the DOC website as well. Ron got the minimum on two charges, but a little more on the third. Not that it matters, since it's all concurrent. But it surprised me; all along I though he got minimum across the board.
Okay in years it equals 46 years if typed wrong. Dang, now the wonder part....

I did the same thing! I assumed he got the minimum on the 3 charges until I looked at his docket. As you stated it doesn't matter much since the sentences run concurrent but I am curious as to how Judge LaRue came up with the 7+ yrs. and not the minimum of 3 yrs. on that charge. I know there are guidelines the judge has to follow in making the decision on the sentence. It could be that he had to factor in Ron's priors. Without seeing the sentencing report/scoresheet I will never know!
Well a scoresheet has a plus or minus method. Very neat to know the laws. I would hope we see all of their scoresheets. Priors matter, and other factors up and down for the defendant. All must be documented, and all must be sent to the state (I think) for review if a judge deviates from a recommended sentence. So....

Twall, I think you nailed it....Ron's priors were factored in. The score sheet is a guideline but as far as I can tell the judge is not required by law to use the scores. I read somewhere that for Tommy, the score sheet was submitted but not followed.
Sorry for going into discussion here but every now and then we see things on documents that are odd, questionable. I saw 7 years 16 days for this charge on the DOC website and thought it an odd amount. So, some kind of guideline must have been used.
