And this

The shooter made one singular $15 donation to the liberal ActBlue political action committee on January 20, 2021 — Biden’s Inauguration Day, the Intercept reported.

Reminder: just because you belong to a party doesn't mean you like the leading candidate. (Example, many Dems don't want their current presidential candidate.)

As for the Jan 2021 donation, I'm holding opinion on that too as he was 17 years old at the time, and it was the most tumultuous month politically that most of us have ever experienced. It was an intense time of emotions and he was at an impressionable age.

I'm waiting for more info, while at the same not wanting more info as it's disgusting to use violence.

Yeah you are correct 17 years of age is an impressionable age and quite young to be making donations to political parties tbh at 17 I would not have been able to tell you who my country's heads of government were politics just weren't on my radar it's probably different for American kids as drummed in from young age about allegiance to the flag and so forth even still 20 years of age very young to be attempting an assassination on a presidential candidate and former president especially one with such notoriety as Trump

Why would a republican supporter shoot their own candidate strange obviously the young man in question had mental health issues not questioning that .. but maybe msm don't want to put out there that he was a democrat as it would drum up more support for Mr trump so when a reporter asked was shooter red or blue they were answered with a safe answer

His registered voter status has been posted in a previous post, from the state's voter registration site.
If you click on the attachment in this post, you can see it.

I looked him up in the state's voter registration site.

"The House will conduct a full investigation of the tragic events today. The American people deserve to know the truth," he said. "We will have Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and other appropriate officials from DHS and the FBI appear for a hearing before our committees ASAP."

And I'm sure that the SS radio messages were that the shooter was down very quickly after the shots. Which should have been the case given that the counter sniper behind Trump appeared to be literally watching the guy!
He appears to take two shots very early on then stops.

It seems that he had the shooter in sight instantly, in my opinion.

-shooter registered Republican in 2021
-trump didn’t announce his run until late 2022

So i personally don’t think his only motivation in registering republican was to vote against trump in the primary. At the very least, it wasn’t a direct response to Trump announcing his intent to run again.

The shocking assassination attempt against Donald Trump is likely to lead to a ramping up of security across the American political landscape as the 2024 presidential election continues to play out against a backdrop of rising political violence.

In the immediate future there are set to be increased efforts to prevent any violence of disruption at the Republican convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this week which now will unfold against a backdrop of the attempt on Trump’s life.

Given the stunning lapse in security at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, which saw a single gunman repeatedly shoot at Trump from the roof of a building near to the stage from which he was speaking, the already huge effort in Milwaukee will be tightened further. A senior federal official told NBC that RNC security plans are being reexamined after the assassination attempt.

The Trump campaign’s co-managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita also sent a memo following the shooting to campaign staff confirming that the RNC convention will continue as planned, though it also asked staff to avoid campaign offices in Washington and Florida “as they’re assessed” and would be “enhancing the armed security presence with 24/7 officers on-site”.

The Wisconsin governor, Tony Evers, said on social media: “My staff and I are in contact with those coordinating security planning for the RNC and will continue to be in close communication as we learn more about this situation.”

Perhaps there should be some sort of warning that from now on, SS are going to shoot first and ask questions later? So don't make any sudden or unusual moves in the vicinity of an election rally...

What we know about the casualties

In addition to the gunman, who was shot and killed by Secret Service, there were three other casualties involved in last night's attack.

One adult male was killed while standing in the audience, Michael T Slupe, the Butler County sheriff, said.

Two other people, also confirmed by authorities as men, were critically injured. Details about their injuries have not been released.

A new photo shows just how close a bullet came to killing Donald Trump during a shooting at his campaign rally.

Trump was seen covered in blood after a shooter, who the FBI has since identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, shot the former president's ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, local time.

The disturbing photo shows a grey line, a moving bullet, flying just inches from Trump's head.

Mr Smith was listening from outside the rally and said he saw the gunman around five minutes into Trump's speech.

"We noticed the guy bear-crawling up the roof of the building beside us, 50ft away," he said. "He had a rifle, we could clearly see a rifle.

"We're pointing at him, the police are down there running around on the ground, we're like 'Hey man, there's a guy on the roof with a rifle'... and the police did not know what was going on."

Mr Smith said he tried to alert the authorities for three to four minutes, but thought they probably could not see the gunman because of the slope of the roof.

"Why is there not Secret Service on all of these roofs here?" he asked. "This is not a big place. "[It's a] security failure, 100% security failure."
