BTW, anyone can find the photo I'm talking about that has the #imdeadinside hashtag. Just google the hashtag with her pvt IG user name and click on the cached version of the sites that come up. Then search for her user name on the page you clicked on.

Is this on Instagram? And what is her user name?

Context would help.

Robyn Gardner disappeared on Aruba and her older, wealthy boyfriend had an insurance policy on her life for the weekend of travel. Was that a sugar?

Only if the terminology and arrangement was discussed. If it was simply an older boyfriend but no discussion of exchange relationship- then no, not sugar relationships ship.

there is a picture of Mackenzie Lueck in the news where she is holding her phone up to her chest and her other hand up to her chest. In my opinion, it looks like a gesture for someone doing something nice for her.
ML definitely saw something or someone that surprised her. I wrote earlier today that I thought an admirer may be standing there in the airport. I'm still wondering if somebody was there at the airport; if so who? Or maybe she just saw a cute baby or dog?

I don't think they make a full emotional investment into the relationship.

I agree. I feel like the sugar lifestyle would lead to narcissist (SD)/ codependent (SB)type relationships.

If funded research is tainted (bias), and unfunded research is less valid (peer review), what research should be trusted?

Not what I said. Funded can be tainted due to agenda and bias. Unfunded but peer reviewed is definitely valid. Never said that’s not valid. Those links were not peer reviewed sources. Peer review with unfunded is the strongest unbiased research.

I think they’re still walking the fine line between privacy and disclosure.

Those images show what she looks like, and what she was wearing that night.

I think that was the point.
Yes, true on that. It would be nice to see her body language as that may help see what her mood was like that night. Still can't help but wonder if any passengers had any conversations with her on the flight.

I can’t seem to find it on my phone, not for lack of trying...

I know. I've looked at the photo a zillion times trying to get into her head. And her comment about her black heart and soul just kept bringing me back to having grave concern for her.

Honestly, again as a person a little younger than KL, there's a really big presence of mental health issues/depression among people our age, meaning this finds its way into slang and pop culture. I'm sure if someone saw my texts with my friends, they'd be a bit concerned for us, as 'I'm going to kill myself' has now become a (sarcastic) response to even the slightest inconveniences. Honestly, unless we learn of mental health issues KL may have had, (highly likely due to her high stress environment, being away from family) I'd take these statements with a grain of salt. JMO

She seems funny, sarcastic. That can also be a cover for depression.

Also I just realized, she is a senior... the difference between my freshman and senior year as far as maturity was night and day.

She does not seem, in the photos from baggage claim, to be prepared for a romantic rendezvous at all. Nada. No how.

The horse is not dead, yet. Chief Doubt slips and uses the word “he” in the q&a part of yesterday’s press conference. It’s at about 6.55 in the video. SLC Police

Chief Doubt says the driver started taking calls...immediately after he dropped her off.
ok I listened and heard the chief say he. Heard it 'from the horses mouth' so I'm satisfied it's a he! Thank you!

Question: What I find confusing is that young women are being taught that money=power. There is more to their value than money. I understand that this is legal, but they are giving some of their power away in these transactions. What @Gardenista quoted, it worries me. IMO MOO all of that. There is too much grey area here for me to feel like it is a safe road for so many young women to take. Are we not supposed to worry about them only because it is legal? It seems like the emotional damage could be profound. @poppydarling Are you saying that (psychologically speaking) this is not like a gateway drug, metaphorically speaking? So, most of these young girls will go on to have lives where they can see their value above and beyond an exchange, or as a product/brand? Do we even know the answers to this yet, as this seems to be a fairly new lifestyle due to easy access with apps and the internet? I am genuinely worried that this is the norm for so many young women who haven't yet had a chance to fully form their identity as powerful, independent beings, and what that means/should mean/could mean in a patriarchal/non-patriarchal society.

Belle, thank you so much for putting my feelings into words. This sugar lifestyle worries me, makes me sad for the girls. While it is dressed up to sound “empowering” I feel it can be damaging emotionally. Especially the woman’s/SB’s power is based on their looks. What happens when they age?

Hmm. What was your sample size?

On this Sugar Dating website, it encourages only attractive people to join. If sex wasn't an extremely high priority, unattractive people would also be encouraged to join.

As noted in my original posting my sample size was approximately 1000. Actual final analytical sample is 1,034 to be exact.

A few years ago I read an article about Japanese school girls being involved in this type of relationship. Just googled now and see there's a lot of info. Appears to be a trend...Papakatsu. It's been going on for quite a long time.
I wonder if it originated in Japan.

Also, I'm by no means an expert on SD/SB relationships, but in all the ones my friends have been in, neither person develops an emotional attachment to the other... most commonly (personally) I've seen that these girls just text or call the SD sometimes, in exchange for sums of cash. (highly popular among college students who don't have time to work and need to pay off loans)

We can see what she wore in the airport, have we heard if the driver says it was the same clothes she was in when he picked her up. Curious if she changed clothes at all or did herself up real quick in a bathroom or put makeup on in the car.

The airports pics don't show the white t shirt with a peace sign. Unless I missed it. So I'm wondering if the t shirt description came from the Lyft driver?

Of course there are alternative findings and sides to all stories. These are semi-valid sources- however it is important to remember that peer reviewed empirical test are different than media outlet agenda sources. Additionally funding sources tend to bias results and findings. But I do appreciate and encourage research so yes, noted that not 100% of researchers have the same outlook but I’d say there’s an agreed upon definition from 80% of us.
Do SB's ever have more than one SD at a time?

If I remember correctly the post said something to the effect "all black like my soul and heart", referring to her outfit. Like @smalleagles said,

I took it as a sarcastic comment as well. I'm the same age as ML and regularly hear similar comments used lightly. If there was any other substantiating evidence of similar behavior from ML I'd be worried, but it seems more like a one-off comment.
