<modsnip: Quoted post was removed> ... The thing about consent is: the moment she says "no" and "stop" she no longer wants it and that IS assault. He is charged with it, period. Madelyn IS the victim.

Neither is she too old to be catfished. We don't know who she thought she was meeting. She may have been groomed for days, weeks, months believing it was a real relationship, to include harmless role-playing, and none of it, including the man who is now charged, was part of her expectation.

Absolute victim.

All blame belongs to the monster who held her hostage.

ADMIN NOTE:

Given the nature of this particular case, it is a bit of a tough one to moderate, but comments that are determined to not be victim friendly will be removed.

Discussing known victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is known to be relevant to the case.

In line with WS Victim Friendly policy, please tread lightly and try to err on side of the victim with your comments.

Thank you.

Does anyone know why it’s taken this long to get to this point? Was defense getting continuances to go through discovery? Or what?
Not being able to find any media following these ongoing proceedings, I contacted the SanPete Messenger, which had some coverage in 2022. This was the response I received on March 16, 2023:
"Thanks for the tip on pretrial hearings.
I will followup today.
As a journalist, I'm supposed to be impartial, but on this I'm not.
The delays in this horrible case have been unconscionable."

I'm not seeing any more recent coverage in any media as of today. Hopefully, this newspaper will have a reporter at the trial if BB continues to assert his innocence.

Now that the news cycle has passed and the media's attention has moved on to fresher salacity, Madelyn will probably be more willing to testify than had Brown invoked his right to a speedy trial.

Thank you for reaching out!! Sounds like she is fed up with this defendant!

Does anyone have updates on this case? I checked the Sanpete Messenger, but they don’t have any recent (2023) articles following the status of this case.

I sure hope Madelyn has been getting professional help this whole time.
