Multiple police agencies were at Starvation Reservoir on Monday, where a car with a body inside was pulled out of the water.Investigators with Duchesne County, Salt Lake County, and Utah State Parks are now working to piece together what they say is a 20-year-old case. The car was found by Doug Bishop with United Search Corps, a nonprofit that specializes in missing person cases. He has been working with Dave Sparks, of Sparks Motors and the reality TV show Diesel Brothers, for the past six months on this cold case.'

...

They said their search originally started at Flaming Gorge before ending up at Starvation Reservoir, where they've been working for multiple days — leading to Monday's recovery of the vehicle.

"This is a process of elimination with the type of search we specialize in, which is underwater," Bishop said. "That is what led us to Starvation Reservoir. Our search at this reservoir did uncover a vehicle that is connected to a case that we have been working on."

"It's the vehicle — 1000% confirmed the vehicle," Sparks added. "Obviously forensics will have to tell us what remains we found, but there were remains and it was the vehicle we were after."

Police wouldn't confirm where this cold case originated from. Tucker said they are working on getting warrants before they start processing the car. What they find dictates where it goes from there, he said.

The first man's vehicle seems to have been located already.
Looks like both vehicles in both cases were found, according to their threads.

So unless it's another car associated with the victims or a suspect, it's probably someone else.

Their threads, just in case:

Another 2004 case, sounds like the car was not recovered in this one:

Okay, the highway goes right over the reservoir, longest bridge in Utah, people seem to have fun risking their lives jumping off it for kicks despite the height and the shallowness of the water underneath, but what really freaks me out is there seems to be nothing at either end to stop drivers just aiming wrong because they're tired or swerving to avoid something and just ending up in the water. Probably fatally on impact, it's a long steep drop.

'DUCHESNE, Utah (KUTV) — Human remains have been found that are suspected to be in connection to a cold case that began 20 years ago.
Police said Steven Willard Anderson was reported missing in June 2004, and his case has been an open investigation for "several years."
'The remains were still in the process of being identified Tuesday afternoon.'

A car associated with a man reported missing in 2004 has been recovered from Starvation Reservoir, in Duchesne County.

Human remains were found inside the vehicle.

“On Sept. 29, 2024 (Sunday), Bishop located a submerged vehicle at a depth of approximately 50 feet in Starvation Reservoir. The vehicle was later confirmed to be connected to Anderson’s case.

“Though identification of remains is still pending, detectives are working diligently to confirm the identity.
