Just horrible. Hoping the children's relatives and family friends will be able to take care of the children who, fortunately slept thru this horror.
To wake up and be told that Mommy and Daddy are gone -- all you can do is cry about this one. Oh, my. Everything was fine until it wasn't anymore, for all time.

LE says the Butterfields were in bed. Happened 1:15 am.
Signs of forced entry in back of house.
Sounds like the parents got downstairs to the kitchen & one of Butterfields grabbed a knife. How absolutely horrifying. All for what?
So glad the 4 yr old did not wake up.

MOO

Wonder if this is a case of the wrong address? Or he thought they had cash in the house? True terror. RIP.

This isn't going to be a case of the perp going to the wrong addresss.

LE said that this murdering creep and the victims were known to each other.

I'm wondering if he worked for their lawn care business or if he knew them somehow through their business.

JMO.

Yes -- maybe he got fired or laid off of theButterfield's business, and this being a tuff time for that to happen, he got angry. Or he could have applied for a job and was told they weren't hiring or that they decided not to hire him. Or maybe he was a yard man and some of his customers switched to the Butterfield's business. No telling. It would be interesting to know why... SMH...

LE did state they felt it was targeted and not random. That the Butterfields knew him. LE stressed that the connection wasn't nefarious. I just want to know why. I want to see this guy come clean and say why. Those kids are going to ask that question some day, and it would be nice if they had an answer. So many families don't get that answer.

Albert Johnson 's wife Sina Johnson has been arrested. Albert is still at lsrg

Police arrest wife of homicide suspect, say killings of West Jordan couple weren’t random

From the article:

Hours later, Johnson’s wife was arrested for allegedly helping her husband escape, according to a police affidavit.

Sina Johnson, 29, was arrested for investigation of obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence. According to the affidavit, Johnson “had information” regarding the Butterfields’ deaths, but “continued to falsify her knowledge of what occurred” in an interview with police.

“(She) withheld the whereabouts of the homicide suspect and falsified her recounts of what occurred and her involvement. It is known that (she) has had contact with the homicide suspect on multiple occasions prior to, and after the homicide,” the affidavit states.

Johnson also allegedly “disposed of items of evidentiary value regarding the homicide,” according to the affidavit, though the report does not say what. Police further noted in the affidavit that Johnson “made statements that she plans to buy a plane ticket to Arizona and would not specify where in Arizona she would go. The alleged party has already aided the homicide suspect in fleeing and (police believe she) will continue to aid the homicide suspect if released.”

Police said Monday they do not believe the killings were random.

Wife of Suspect in Utah Couple's Home Invasion Killing Is Arrested, as Police Search for Husband

Authorities in Utah have arrested the wife of a man suspected to have murdered a couple in their home while their children slept. She was arrested for allegedly helping the suspect flee the area.
[...]
It is unclear how the couple knew Johnson or what the motive was for their deaths.

“We do believe the Butterfields were absolute true victims,” Holt said. “They did not have any role in this. We don’t believe there was any criminal activity going on on their part or anything like that. Just a terrible situation. Horrific.”

Arizona. Could he be heading there? Could he be attempting to get to Mexico? Good luck with that. The borders are under a tight patrol with the virus. If he is injured, could that have kept him from traveling?
I doubt they would go to Mexico, they appear Samoan, and so while they may appear to be hispanic to a casual observer, they are anything but. Likely no big financial backing either... moving to Mexico as a non-native broke fugitive isn't what it's cracked up to be. I am going to predict he will be apprehended soon, or at least by Memorial Day. Also, he left blood after being stabbed from which I presume he was DNA matched quickly. Hopefully the wound is more than superficial. So sorry for the young kids!

Well, it appears he "resisted" doesn't it? So glad he was caught. I want to follow up on his motive. The family deserves to know why he did this. Particularly his children. Because when they are older, they will want and need to know.
